Chapter 50 Fated Savior

Chapter 50 Fated Savior
I just stared blankly at his reply. Why, Kaizer? I kept looking at him while he stared straight at the women trapped in his power.

“Oh fuck! Why don’t you explain this properly, Kaizer? I just want to go home to Wisteria! We’ve been away from the palace for months! Please fix things with Saera!”

Randall looked like he was about to pull his own hair out.

“Kaizer killed them, Saera, not because he wanted to, but to protect them. During the war between Igor and other empires, the destined prince of Tethoris fell under a witch’s power. He was ordered to kill the four destined women. Princess Tatiana was his first victim, we thought he killed her. We thought only three were left alive, but then the time came when no one was guarding the remaining three. That’s when the prince got his chance to kill them. When he was about to do it, Kaizer was the only vampire close enough to help. So he turned them to ice. My brother chose to kill the destined women while their bodies were whole, rather than let them turn to ash, be blown away by the wind, and disappear forever.”

Princess Tatiana and I both stared blankly at Travis’s long explanation.

“Why didn’t you just kill the prince?!” Princess Tatiana shouted.

“Do you think a young vampire could kill a destined prince back then?” Travis answered the princess.

Princess Tatiana and I stayed silent for several minutes at what Travis said. But when I heard the women’s hearts beat again, I quickly put my hands on the ice covering them.

“Their hearts are beating again, Princess Tatiana…”

“I can hear it too,” Kaizer answered us.

“I can’t. Damn,” Randall said.

“Break the ice a little, prince…” Princess Tatiana said firmly.

“I can’t. The ice has been on their bodies for hundreds of years. I can’t control it anymore because it’s part of them now. I might damage their bodies if I try.”

The princess and I both slumped to the floor at what we heard.

“Is there nothing we can do?” I asked the princess weakly.

I could hear their hearts beating once in a while.

“Princess, did you hear them talking before? Like how they said they could talk to Saera?” Travis suddenly asked, making us frown.

“I never heard them speak,” the princess answered hesitantly.

“If that’s so, the curse didn’t just destroy your face, princess, it also cut off your connection with the three women.”

I couldn’t help but be impressed by what Travis said, he knows so many things.

We all stared at him as we waited for what he would say next.

“Simply put, the destined women are also part of the curse. Why don’t you try using your power on them, Saera?”

I froze at what Travis said. I remembered Queen Esmeray’s strict warning to me: never use my power twice in a row, because it could shorten my life.

“I will,” I smiled slightly at Princess Tatiana, whose face lit up at my words.

“Randall, make small cracks in their ice.”

I was about to bite myself when Kaizer held my hand.

“It’ll be just a little, Kaizer. I’m fine.”

He gave me a sharp piece of ice to cut myself with.

“You’re wasting too much of your blood.”

He held my right hand and gently made a small cut on my palm. I barely felt any pain because of his gentle touch.

“Your power is as pure as your heart, Saera…”

I stared at him for a few seconds, he said the same thing as the mermaid queen about my power.

He slowly let go of my hand and let me get close to the ice.

I saw Randall tap the three big blocks of ice lightly, but they quickly cracked all over. I started pressing my palm against the ice of the first destined woman, and my blood slowly seeped into the small cracks.

I did the same for the other two. As I watched my blood spread, I started to feel weak again. Shit. Not now, please don’t let this happen in front of Kaizer.

After I covered all three big blocks of ice, we all just stared at them for a few minutes, waiting for something to happen.

“What now?” Randall asked impatiently.

“It’s working, Saera…” I heard Kaizer whisper.

But no matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t see any change.

“It’s not,” the princess said sadly as she covered her face with her hands, even I felt like I was losing strength. We did nothing to help them.

“They’re all coming…” I heard Kaizer say again.

Coming?

“Fuck! Are these enemies again?” I closed my eyes at what Randall said.

Can the three of them fight new enemies again?

“We’re not needed here anymore,” I heard Travis say.

Are we just going to leave them like this?

“Saera…” I felt Kaizer pick me up. I almost screamed when all the closed windows suddenly opened at once. I quickly held my messy hair because of the strong wind coming from all directions.

One by one, three handsome vampires I’d never seen before came down from large birds. My skin suddenly prickled as they walked past me and Kaizer like we weren’t there. Kaizer just kept walking like we weren’t passing anyone.

But I had one thought about these vampires.

“Don’t tell me…” I asked Kaizer in amazement.

“Yes, they’re the destined vampires from back then, Saera. They felt the women’s hearts beat when you brought them back to life. You saved them, Saera…”

I almost hugged myself because my skin was prickling all over, I could even hear my own heart beating. I stared at the destined princes from before, who were now hugging their princesses.

My hands shook as I looked at them, did I really bring them back to life? Is it true that I’ve done something good? Am I useful in this world now? Have I finally done something right by staying here? The corners of my eyes started to feel warm again.

“We have a link too, Saera. When you first pressed your palm against the first woman, the destined vampires felt it. They didn’t waste time, and as the three of them got closer, I could feel their presence growing stronger.”

Tears started to fall from my eyes. I can’t explain how I feel right now. I’m happy for them, glad that I’ve done something good. Grandma, I finally helped someone.

We also rode on the large birds the Lancasters brought. But I was surprised when Kaizer chose not to sit next to me and let Travis sit with me instead. Instead of asking why, I just stayed quiet. Did I really think everything between me and Kaizer would be easy now?

While we were in the air, I couldn’t help but ask.

“Why isn’t the princess’s destined prince here?”

Only three came.

“He locked himself under their palace, thinking the princess was dead. Even we were surprised to learn she was alive. The curse hid her, Saera. But now that the curse is gone, there’s a good chance her destined vampire is coming here to Nalva too,” Travis answered me.

“I’m so confused about everything,” Randall sighed.

I glanced again at Kaizer in front, he was quiet and not joining our talk.

“But you’re so cool, Saera! Your power is amazing. No one in our family can be cursed now!” Randall said excitedly to me.

I just forced a smile at him. There’s only one thing I can’t accept about this power, the last thing the mermaid queen said to me before we came up from the water.

‘You can help anyone, but never let yourself be cursed. Because you will never be able to help yourself.’

I just smiled sadly.

This world is so cruel, to give me a power that can never protect me.
