Part One Hundred and Twenty-Seven
Twenty minutes later, Cooper slowed the SUV down and Gage looked at Dominic. “See you soon, brother.” The door opened and Gage was out of the car. Cooper sped up again the moment the door closed and Dominic could feel everything inside him settle.
Tonight everything would end, one way or another.
Cooper pulled the SUV up at the specified warehouse. Three men stood outside the door and watched them warily. Their hands reached for their weapons as the doors opened and Dominic climbed out.
“Mr. Vittori is waiting inside,” one man said.
The other two men stepped closer to them and started patting them down. Dominic had expected it and neither he nor Cooper were armed. Ethan had been somewhere on a rooftop since the sun set with his sniper rifle and he’d start taking the men out when Gage gave him the signal.
Dominic walked into the warehouse first, Cooper following close behind him. He hadn’t liked the idea of bringing any of his men with him, but they’d argued and Cooper had told him that he wasn’t letting Dominic go alone, no matter what.
“Dominic, welcome,” Rocco said with a smile that spoke of deception.
“Cut the bullshit, Rocco.” Dominic kept his eyes on Rocco and read him like a fucking book.
“I was a bit disappointed that you disrespected me so publicly by not inviting me to Eris’ funeral,” Rocco said.
“It was your man that killed Eris. Why the fuck would I open my house to you?” Dominic said.
“My man? You’re grasping at straws, Dominic. Why would I want Eris dead?” Rocco didn’t even bat an eye at the accusation but Dominic could still see the lies.
“You won’t find Agron Makolli at his house. He’s spending some time in my basement. Did you really think I wouldn’t get my sister back? I don’t care that your sperm created her, she’s my sister, my family and off limits to you!”
“You’re lying. I think Agron Makolli spilled the beans on everything. I think he was so pussy whipped that he laid all my plans bare. I can hardly blame the man, breaking in an eighteen-year-old virgin's pussy does things to a man,” Rocco said and smirked.
“Why am I here, Rocco? You already know you’ll never get the backing of this family. We will never be famiglia again. My alliance with Lev Volkov fucked up all your little plans for the harbor and slowly but surely I’m strangling your hold on this city,” Dominic said.
“By the end of the night, you’ll be drowning in your family’s blood,” Rocco said. His eyes hardened and the hate for Dominic was now clearly visible.
“Wrong again, Rocco. I doubt the ten men outside this warehouse are still alive. You never paid much attention to Gage and we preferred it that way. Gage has always been your biggest threat, not me. Gage is the silent killer of this family. All this time you kept your eyes on me and not on the real threat,” Dominic said with his own smirk.
“Gage is twenty-one years old, he’s still a boy,” Rocco spat.
“Gage has been my enforcer since he was sixteen. I’m sure he’ll join us soon and he can tell you himself what he did to Alejandro,” Dominic said.
“The fuck are you saying? Gage killed Alejandro?”
“Don’t look so shocked, Rocco. Your time as godfather is over.” Dominic’s voice had lowered to a tone that spoke of danger and death.
“The Elders would never allow my death,” Rocco said confidently.
“What Elders?”
It took Rocco a few seconds to realize exactly what Dominic was saying. He started moving backwards, keeping his eyes on Dominic. The back door on the side of the empty warehouse opened and Gage walked closer to them.
He had flecks of blood on his face and the 9mm in his hand was steady. Rocco turned back to look at Dominic as that door opened as well and Lev and Agron walked inside. “You fucking traitorous bastard.”
“You should’ve realized when I asked for Inara that she would be more important than my alliance with you,” Agron said.
“Right after Conrad’s funeral, I told you that this was my city,” Dominic said.
“I’m going to gut you like you gutted Conrad,” Gage whispered into Rocco’s ear and he jumped visibly at Gage’s close proximity.
“You can’t kill us all, Dominic,” Rocco said.
“I can do whatever the fuck I want, Rocco. Your name will be forgotten and even Tomo will never speak of you again. You are the reason he joined the church. He never wanted a son that could be tarnished by you,” Dominic said.
“Do you remember the night you raped my mother?” Gage asked him. “I was right outside her room. You told her that Conrad wouldn’t believe her because he didn’t love her. I’m going to watch you bleed out and later on, when I’m fucking my wife, it’ll be to thoughts of your screams.”
The knife plunged into Rocco’s stomach and Gage pulled it across his gut. Blood seeped from the wound through his dress shirt and Rocco’s hands tried to cover the wound. Gage kicked his knee in and Rocco went down to the floor hard.
“Volkov!” Lev said loudly and Rocco’s eyes widened as the large dog came running into the warehouse, his muzzle already coated in blood.
“Send my regards to Conrad in hell,” Dominic said.
The dog stood next to Lev and licked his muzzle as his ears twitched. “Get your piece of liver.”
The dog jumped forward and Rocco screamed. He went straight for the wound, tearing into Rocco’s flesh as he tried fighting the dog off. His entrails slithered out as the dog pushed his muzzle inside the gaping wound and started to eat Rocco alive.
“A fitting death,” Gage mused and holstered his gun.
“Let’s go get our women,” Lev said.
Rocco’s screams had died down and Volkov sniffed around his body. He licked his muzzle again and walked to where Lev stood. He rubbed the dog’s ears and his tail thumped up and down.
“Fuck,” Agron said as they all looked back at Rocco’s body. “When you told me that your dog was going to eat Rocco’s liver, I didn’t fucking believe you.”
“Volkov loves a good piece of liver,” Lev said.
