Part One Hundred and Twenty-Five
Part One Hundred and Twenty-Five
Gage’s eyes snapped open as a door opened on the far side of the building. He’d been in the ceiling for two days, waiting for the perfect moment. The plan was a fucking good one, even he could admit it.
They’d spent three weeks going over the details. For the first time in their history, three crime families were working together to take out the godfather of la famiglia. Rocco Vittori had surrounded himself with soldiers.
It was a good thing that he was afraid, because Gage was pissed off and his patience was wearing thin. He wanted Rocco’s blood so much that he could taste and smell it. The women were at the country house, being watched by their men.
Dominic would take Cooper with him, Lev would take Sasha and Agron would have Granit with him. Gage worked alone, he didn’t need back-up, he was first in line, back-up and the middle man.
Gage closed his eyes again and listened intently as footsteps neared the office. “All I’m saying is, tonight’s meeting with Dominic will end in blood.”
Gage grinned. ‘Yes, it will,’ he thought to himself. It just wouldn’t be Dominic’s blood being spilled. Rocco and Elder Bianchi spoke in low voices but Gage still heard every word. He had five microphones in the room and now he knew their plan.
“Have they found Gage yet?” Rocco asked.
“He went into his penthouse three days ago and nobody’s seen him since,” a new voice answered.
“Fucking find him. I want the women unharmed but you can kill the men,” Rocco said.
“I want the Russian bitch,” the new voice said.
Gage gritted his teeth. It took all his self-control not to kick through the ceiling and kill the man below him. Anya was his Russian bitch and nobody would touch her. His hand clenched into tight fists and he breathed in slowly.
“I have big plans for those women. Don’t screw this up or I’ll have your balls on a platter.” Rocco’s threats had Gage grin. His rage was under control now but it would fuel his bloodlust for the next night.
He couldn’t deviate from the plan now. Blood had to be spilled and Gage had no problem spilling it. The men talked for another hour, nothing that interested Gage and he waited until midnight before moving from his spot.
Once he was clear of the building, he sped his bike down the interstate to Dominic’s country house. The bike was registered to a homeless man and Gage wasn’t worried. The tires spit up gravel as he parked the bike in front of the front patio and made his way inside.
Even though it was 1 a.m., Dominic’s study light was still on and Gage opened the door to find Lev, Agron and Austin all speaking in low voices. They all turned at the same time when Gage closed the door behind him.
“Where the fuck have you been?” Dominic growled at him.
“Surveillance. Now sit the fuck down so I can tell you what I know,” Gage said.
“Two days, Gage! You’ve been radio silent for two fucking days!” Dominic was pissed but Gage could detect the worry underneath the anger. He’d be pissed too if Dominic had disappeared for two days. Dominic though should be used to it, Gage did this all the time and he rarely checked in when he was on a mission.
“Once Dominic gets that stick out of his ass, you might be interested to know that Rocco knows the women are at the house. He’ll send you directions to a warehouse outside the city limits and he’ll wait for you there. Ten more men will wait in the shadows for you and Rocco has given orders that he wants you taken alive,” Gage said.
“Then I’ll go alone,” Dominic said.
Gage nodded his head. “He’ll send a group of men to hit the compound at the same time and a group of men that will hit the house to grab the women. He wants them unharmed and the men dead.”
“The only way he gets my wife is if he send a hundred fucking men and even then I’m not sure that he’ll get her,” Lev said. His eyes held a glaze of murderous intent but Gage didn’t react to it. He looked bored.
“I’ll be going with you to that warehouse and we’re not leaving without Rocco hogtied in my trunk,” Gage said.
“I guess that means he suspects that I’ve been turned,” Agron said. “All of this is news to me. He hasn’t shared it with me and that only means that he’s going to hit my house too.”
“He didn’t mention your name,” Gage said as he looked at Agron. He didn’t completely trust Agron yet, he’d kept too many things from them in the past and Gage didn’t like it.
“We’ll be ready tomorrow night. Nobody’s getting in here and touching any of our women,” Austin said.
“You still think it’s a good idea to keep them all here? Together? Our wives are pregnant, Dominic.” Faro had a good point but Dominic wasn’t going to risk moving Rafaella where she’d be out in public for any amount of time. Not until this threat had been dealt with.
“The house is secure,” Dominic said and Austin nodded his agreement.
“My woman’s not pregnant,” Agron said with a grin and Gage wasn’t sure if he’d ever get over the itch to put a gun to his head and pull the trigger.
“Not our fault you’re shooting blanks,” Lev said and Gage grinned. Lev had the same rage that fueled Gage’s instincts, and Gage liked him. The fact that he was Hunter’s husband only made Gage happier that his twin sister had found her forever with a man like him.
“I’m not shooting blanks,” Agron said with frustration.
“He’s not getting any. I guess my sister’s still pissed off about how you kidnapped her,” Dominic said and chuckled.
“Fuck off,” Agron grumbled.
“I’m going to bed. I haven’t slept in two days,” Gage said and turned toward the door. “Inara’s quarters are right next to mine.”
“Fuck you, Gage.”
Gage chuckled as he left the study and headed up the stairs to his quarters. In his bathroom he undressed and took the hottest shower of his life, washing away the dirt and dust from sitting in that ceiling for two days.
Gage slid into bed behind Anya fifteen minutes later and smiled as she pushed back against him. He kissed her shoulder and grabbed her breast. “Get some rest, Anya.”
“I will now that you’re here,” she whispered.
“Tomorrow is a new start for us. Tomorrow they’ll all be dead.”
