Part One Hundred and Thirteen
Eris’ funeral was a small and somber affair. It wasn’t as lavish as Conrad’s had been but that was because Dominic hadn’t opened his funeral to anyone not living in his house. Bianca had settled in and it seemed that Austin had taken a special liking to her. He kept hovering and watching her and Dominic had to wonder if something else was going on between them.
Rafaella had also immediately taken Bianca under her wing, even though Bianca was a year older than her. Bianca was quiet and reserved mostly but her eyes lit up whenever Austin walked into a room. Dominic had noticed it during her first week with them. She hadn’t complained about anything or asked for anything but Dominic had made sure that she had everything she needed. She was a Vittori and she would be looked after like a Vittori.
“Is Austin fucking Bianca?” Dominic asked Rafaella one night as they retired after dinner with the family.
Rafaella looked at him for a few seconds and Dominic could almost hear the thoughts running through her mind. “No.”
“No?”
“Would you mind if he did?” She asked him and he sat down on the edge of their bed and took his shoes off.
“Honestly, Rafi, I don’t know how to feel about Bianca. I know she shares our blood but I didn’t raise her like I raised Hunter and Inara. I can call her my sister but she doesn’t feel like my sister,” Dominic said with a sigh.
“You’ve had years with Hunter and Inara. Bianca’s only been in your life for two weeks,” Rafaella said. “You didn’t answer my question though.”
“What kind of questions is that? Either he has or he wants to,” Dominic said and gave her a look that told her he wanted the truth.
“He hasn’t but I think he wants to. The way he looks at her … Dominic, I think he already loves her,” Rafaella said softly.
“What the fuck am I supposed to do with that? Give my sister to one of my men? If he fucks her he’ll have to marry her and if he marries her, he can’t work for me anymore. He’ll always be distracted by her,” Dominic said.
“Shouldn’t that be his choice?”
Rafaella was standing in front of him now, between his legs, and he placed his hands on her hips. He kissed the slight curve of her stomach and rested his cheek against it. “Losing Austin would be like losing one of my brothers.”
“Then find a way to keep him here,” she whispered and tilted his head up to look at her.
“I love you, Rafi, so much.”
Dominic stood up and started undressing her before undressing himself. He took her to bed and pushed inside her slowly and gently. His thrusts were deep and languid and Rafaella clenched her pussy muscles around him tightly, spurring on his own orgasm as he showed her what love was.
Dominic’s phone woke him at seven a.m. and he was surprised at how late he’d slept. Rafaella was still asleep next to him and he kissed her shoulder before answering his phone. “Vittori.”
“Dominic, there’s a warrant of arrest being prepared with your name on it.”
“For murder?”
“For the murder of Zhang Wei.”
“Fuck, thank you, Hamil,” Dominic said.
“I give it around two days before they come to arrest you, given all the red tape and legalities of the matter,” Hamil said.
“See what else you can find, Hamil.” With that, Dominic ended the call and walked out of the bedroom to the sitting room before dialing another number.
“Someone better be dead,” Lev Volkov answered his phone.
“We need to meet, today still. A warrant for my arrest is being prepared and there are things you and Agron should know before I’m arrested,” Dominic said.
“Fuck, Dominic. I can meet at noon, that gives Agron time to get his Albanian ass over to your house,” Lev said.
Dominic chuckled. “Noon.”
Dominic made a similar phone call to Agron Makolli and then he walked back into his bedroom. The only way a warrant of arrest could be issued, was if evidence of his involvement had been found or someone had talked. The latter was more likely because Dominic knew they’d left nothing behind.
Dominic’s fingers trailed down Rafaella’s cheek and she stirred. Her eyelids fluttered open and she smiled sleepily at Dominic. “What time is it?”
“Just past seven a.m. Lev and Agron will be here at noon for a meeting but I have to tell you that I’m going to be arrested,” Dominic said.
“Arrested?” Her eyebrows bunched together in a frown. “For what?”
“Murder. My hacker just called me. I have two days at most before they come for me, but it’ll be fine, Rafi. I’ll be out on bail the same day or early the next day. There is no evidence, which means they have a witness,” Dominic said.
“Who did you kill, Dominic?”
“A Chinese drug dealer,” he said and looked into her deep green eyes.
“Then I’ll make sure that everything runs smoothly until you come back home,” she said and Dominic smiled.
“I am the luckiest man on earth for having found you,” he said and kissed her lightly on her forehead.
“Just tell me what you need done, and I’ll make sure it gets done.”
“I’ll have a solid plan once I know who the witness is and right now I can’t afford to lose Austin, not with me being arrested. As soon as word is out, the vultures will descend and I need you safe,” Dominic said.
“I have Hudson and I’m pretty sure there’s nobody crazier than Hudson,” she said and chuckled.
“Crazier? No. Ruthless? Yes. Gage will be staying at the house when I’m taken in, there’s nobody I trust more,” Dominic said with a seriousness that had her listening.
“I’ll be fine, Dominic, I promise. I won’t leave the house without you.” Dominic drew her against him and hugged her tightly. He’d burn the whole city down for her and he knew at that precise moment that he’d never love again after Rafaella.
