CHAPTER 19: A NEW BEGINNING
CHAPTER 19: A NEW BEGINNING
I kick the chair in front of me for the tenth time, startling Ana once again.
"Could you stop kicking that chair?" she says.
"Do you think it would be too bad to tell Imanol to come?" I say without looking at Ana, and she clicks her tongue.
"I have a much better plan," she says, catching my attention. "Do you remember Jery?" I nod, and she continues, "He's been taking acting classes since last year, and honestly, he's really good."
"And how does that relate to playing along with Harry?" I ask, confused.
"Harry invited Camila, right?"
"Yes."
"Well, you'll invite Jery. Let's see who gets more jealous," she says with a wicked smile.
"I love it, but isn't Jery gay?" I say.
"And also a very good actor," she says proudly.
"Do you think Jery will accept?"
"Jery accepts anything related to acting," she says and immediately dials a number on her cellphone.
While Ana talks to who I suppose is Jery, I return to my previous state, motionless, with a distant gaze and a hollow feeling in my stomach.
"We'll see who gets more jealous," I repeat Ana's words in my mind.
"And if he gets jealous?" I say in my mind and smile. "I've never seen him jealous. Will he look cute?"
"What if he doesn't even care that you're at the dinner and that you invited someone?" my conscience says. The smile fades from my face, and I sigh heavily.
"Okay, Jery will be at your house at eight to carry out our plan," says Ana, bringing me back from my thoughts.
"Thank you."
"You don't have to thank me. I'm here to support you. Now, wipe that face off and go home to rest."
"I love you," I say as I hug her.
"I love you too, little Ali."
I leave her room, go downstairs, and as I reach the bottom, I come across her father. He smiles at me, but I glare at him, causing him to furrow his brow and put his hand on his neck.
I leave the house and find Luck talking on the phone with his back to the house.
"I don't know how long the lady will take, but I need to see you," I eavesdrop and approach in complete silence. "You looked beautiful this morning."
"Thank you!" I say beside him with a big smile on my face.
"M-Madam," says Luck, scared.
"I know you told your girlfriend, you sneaky one," I say and burst into loud laughter.
"Madam, it's not what it seems," I look at him amused and shake my head.
"Don't worry, bring her to the house one of these days so I can approve her, I mean, meet her," Luck smiles nervously, and I wink at him.
"She's not my girlfriend yet, madam, and maybe I already know her," I widen my eyes.
"Is it Rosita?" I say, covering my mouth.
"No, I promise I'll tell you as soon as she becomes my girlfriend," I smile and nod. Luck smiles and opens the car door for me to get in.
I get in the car, then Luck gets in, and I'm really curious. I've known Luck since I was little; he's always been very kind to me. I used to call him uncle. Luck has never been married, nor does he have children. I know he deserves a family. Besides, Luck is not over forty; he still has time to be a father. That would make him very happy and me too.
"Luck Kicked the chair in front of me for the tenth time, making Ana startle once again.
"Could you stop kicking that chair?" she says.
