CHAPTER 15: CRAZY EMOTIONS
CHAPTER 15: CRAZY EMOTIONS
The scandalous sound of an alarm clock almost makes me fall out of bed, but the curious thing is that I don't have an alarm clock.
"What the hell?" I say and put a pillow on my face. "Ahhgg." I groan with my face still against the pillow and then I get up.
I put on my slippers and leave the room in search of where the horrible sound of the alarm clock is coming from. I walk until I reach Harry's room and notice that the door is slightly open, so I decide to go in.
Upon entering, I see Harry lying face down on the bed, still fully clothed and tossing around like a giant lion. I cover my mouth to suppress a loud laugh and tiptoe toward the alarm clock.
When I reach it, I forcefully swipe my hand over the device, and immediately Harry does the same, but instead of hitting the alarm clock, he hits my hand, causing me to let out a scream.
"Ah!" Harry screams after me and sits up in bed in one swift motion.
"You idiot!" I shout as I rotate, kissing my hand.
"What happened? What did I do? What are you doing here?" he asks, looking at me with a confused expression.
"I was, that thing and I... Could you get me some ice?" I try to explain as I point to the alarm clock, but the pain prevents me, and I prefer to ask him for something to treat the bump.
"Yeah, I...
"Hurry up!" I say, interrupting the bewildered Harry, and he just rushes off to get some ice.
"Here it is," Harry says, entering the room, and I sit on the bed to place the ice pack on my hand. "Can I help?"
I look at Harry, and he looks completely different from how I know him. His shirt is untucked, he's not wearing a tie, and the collar of his shirt is raised. His hair is messy, and his face shows concern.
"Yes," I say, looking into his eyes, and he approaches, extending his hand for me to give him mine.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know your hand was there," he apologizes while squatting in front of me.
"Don't worry, you were asleep, and I entered quietly," I look at his head, and he has small whirls in his hair.
"Next time, don't be so silent," he chuckles slightly, and I do the same. "Also, I apologize for drinking too much last night."
"No, it's okay, you looked funny," I reply, and he lifts his head to look at me seriously. "Sorry," I say, stopping my laughter.
"You can keep laughing, you look funny," he smiles, and I give him a light push on the shoulder. "So, how are we getting along?"
"No, I...
"Relax, I'm just joking," he interrupts, laughing. "Your hand is very red, I'll get some gel to reduce the swelling," he says, getting serious and trying to release my hand, but I firmly hold onto his.
"Wait," Harry looks at me curiously. "Last night, you said something, something I would like to know if it's true," I see him clenching his jaw and avoiding my eyes.
"What did I say?" he nervously questions, and I move closer to him.
"'I like you,' that's what you said," Harry moves his eyes from side to side and manages to free himself from my grip to stand up.
"I was drunk, I, I don't remember anything," he says with a trembling voice, turning his back to me.
I stand up behind him and place my hands on his shoulders I'm not going to lie, I like Imanol, but I think I also like Harry. I need to know which one of them matters to me more, and therefore, I need to kiss Harry again to be sure of my crazy emotions.
I slide my hands over Harry's arms until I reach his hands, where my hands intertwine with his, closing the remaining space between his back and my chest.
"So, you don't like me?" I ask, with my cheek pressed against his arm.
Harry releases my hands and turns around, making us face each other.
"I like you," he says, looking into my eyes and holding my face in his hands.
I put my hands on the collar of his shirt and pull him towards me. Our lips are just inches apart, and my heart starts racing even faster.
I close my eyes, and Harry finally decides to close the distance, joining his lips with mine. His mouth is warm and still carries a slight taste of wine. Our lips move in perfect synchrony, and one of his hands goes from my face to my waist, pulling me closer to his body. I wrap my arms around his neck, and we start walking toward the bed.
"Wait," I say, slightly parting my lips from his, and he looks at me confused, his cheeks slightly flushed. "I like you, Harrison McBride."
Harry smiles and kisses me passionately yet tenderly. We're about to fall onto the bed when the doorbell starts ringing. We separate, startled, and rush downstairs.
Harry looks at the camera, and his face turns serious. He scratches his head and looks at me with concern.
"Sorry, it's my mother," he says, about to open the door, but I stop him before he does.
"No, go take a shower. She'll be upset if she sees you like this, at least I have my lady pajamas." Harry laughs at my comment and holds my chin with his fingers.
"You look beautiful in those pajamas," he says before giving me a small kiss on the lips.
"Go on, I'll open it." Harry nods and leaves.
I turn, facing the door, and take a deep breath, exhaling slowly. The doorbell keeps ringing, so I hesitate no more and open the door.
"Ha..." Amanda's mouth hangs open as she sees me. "Darling, what kind of outfit is that? You'll never give me grandchildren like that," she says, looking me up and down.
"It's also a pleasure to see you, Amanda," I say, forcing a smile. "Come in, welcome to our humble apartment."
"Thank you, dear," she says and quickly enters as if she's searching for something. "Valentina! Valentina!" she shouts everywhere.
"Here I am, ma'am," Valentina says, coming out of the kitchen.
"Do you have Harry's coffee ready yet?" Valentina nods and then looks at me.
"Amanda, Harry is taking a shower, and I'm going to do the same. You stay at home."
"You're going to shower together while I'm here?" she questions, placing a hand on her chest in an offended gesture.
"No, I'll shower in the bathroom of my room."
"Ah, right, you don't sleep together," she says, smiling.
"No, we don't," I say and walk towards the stairs. As I climb up, I hear Amanda asking Valentina about breakfast.
A few minutes later, I finish showering and descend the stairs, finding Amanda talking on the phone in the living room.
I look at her, and she doesn't even notice I'm there, so I go to the kitchen, where I find my breakfast and an empty plate in the sink.
"Valentina, has Harry already left?"
"Yes, ma'am. He told me to give you this," Valentina hands me a small envelope.
I open it, and inside is a small card with something written on it.
"See you at 2:00 at the Russell restaurant. Sincerely, Your husband."
I smile like a fool and start eating breakfast.
After kissing Harry, my crazy emotions are a bit clearer. I want to give it a try with Harry, and I'll do my best to make this work.
I finish breakfast and return to the living room where Amanda is still there. I sit in front of her and smile.
"I was talking to a friend who happens to be the director of the best law university in London. I told her a bit about you, and she said you could send her an essay, and she'll personally read it, and well, you would practically be in." I look at Amanda with confusion, and she just smiles. "This is an opportunity you can't pass up. Anyone would want to get into such a prestigious university so quickly."
"Yes, anyone except me," I look at Amanda and furrow my brow. "I'm not going to study law, Amanda."
"What? What do you plan to do with your life then?"
"Excuse me, Amanda, but that's none of your business." Amanda gets up angrily.
"How dare you talk to me like that? If my son had married Camila, things would be very different." I close my eyes and feel my blood begin to boil.
"I'm sorry, but I'm Harry's wife, and my decisions concern only him and me," I say, getting up from the couch and standing in front of Amanda. "If you don't mind, I would like you to leave my house."
"This apartment belongs to my son, and yet you dare to kick me out." I look at her and nod. "Harry will hear about this, and you'll see that his mother comes first."
Amanda threatens as she walks towards the door, and I follow her to make sure she leaves.
"You're nothing compared to my son," she says before slamming the door with force.
"Damn it!" I scream, startling Valentina, who is standing in front of me watching the scene.
Immediately, my phone starts ringing, and I rush to my room to answer it.
When I pick it up, I realize it's Harry calling, and that makes me very nervous. I'm sure Amanda has already told him everything.
"Hello?" I say nervously, holding the phone to my ear.
"Did you kick my mother out of my house?!" Harry asks from the other end of the line with a cold and strong tone of voice.
I have no idea what to answer. I close my eyes tightly, and I feel like my heart will jump out of my mouth.
I think I'm really in serious trouble.
