CHAPTER 11: YOUR NEW HOME
CHAPTER 11: YOUR NEW HOME
I close my eyes and immediately feel Harry's warm lips on mine. This time, a tremendous embarrassment invades my body, and my cheeks start to burn. I hear the applause from everyone and a few whistles.
I open my eyes and quickly pull away from Harry. He looks surprised, and I give a smile to the guests until I meet Imanol's expectant gaze. I avoid his gaze because it makes me feel uncomfortable.
People start approaching to congratulate us, and it's Camila and her father, Mr. Smith's turn.
"I won't tell you how happy this wedding makes me," I manage to hear Mr. Smith whispering to Harry.
"Don't worry, it makes me twice as happy," Harry responds with a defiant tone.
"You're taking a treasure with you, take care of it so it doesn't get stolen," Camila says, making me look at her.
I'm about to respond, but a sharp scream interrupts me. I turn to my right and see an excited Amanda running towards Camila.
"Camila! My love, I'm so glad you're here. You look beautiful, Cami," Amanda says as she hugs Camila.
"The beautiful one is you, Amanda. I missed you so much."
"We haven't seen each other in a long time. Since you and Harry broke up, you went to Spain, and I didn't hear from you again," Amanda says as she strokes Camila's hair.
"What?" I question, more to myself than to them, but I raise my voice, causing both of them to look at me.
"Didn't Harry tell you?" Camila asks, enjoying my expression of confusion.
"My love!" Harry says behind me, taking me by the waist. "I don't want to stay at the party. I'd prefer if it were just the two of us."
As Harry finishes speaking, the faces of Camila and Amanda change from happiness to anger. They seem about to explode, and I decide to play along with Harry.
"Of course, my love. I have something I want to show you," I say, trying to sound sensual, well, attempting to be sensual, and Camila furrows her brow.
"Where are you going for your honeymoon?" Camila asks with concern.
"We're not going on a honeymoon. Harry has a lot of work," Amanda responds seriously, and Harry lets out a chuckle.
"That's why we're going to lock ourselves up in our apartment all weekend," Harry says, then kisses me on the cheek that almost reaches my neck, and I get nervous about it. "Well, it was a pleasure to share the best moment of my life with you all, but now my wife and I must leave."
Harry releases his grip and intertwines his right hand with my left hand. We start walking among the people who congratulate us and bid us farewell with much excitement.
We arrive at the parking lot, and I walk towards my car, but Harry heads towards his.
"It's better if we go in mine," Harry says, adjusting his hair.
"Sure," I reply and walk towards him.
Harry drives through the city, and neither of us says anything. Occasionally, I glance at him sideways and realize he's tense, just like me.
I want to say something to break the awkwardness, but I can't think of anything. Suddenly, I feel the car come to a stop, and I look out the window.
"We're here," I hear Harry's voice, and I turn to look at him.
"A nice parking lot," I say without knowing why I said such a dumb thing.
"It's not nice at all," Harry starts laughing and gets out of the car. "Should I carry you?"
"What?" I stop laughing when I hear his question.
"It's what they do in movies," I look at him and furrow my brow.
"Yeah, well, that's ridiculous," I get out of the car and walk towards an elevator. "This way?"
"Yes, it's the sixteenth floor," he nods, and I keep walking.
When the elevator opens, I see the most luxurious building I've ever seen, well, I haven't been to many apartment buildings.
"It's to the right, apartment number 1108."
"That's my birthday," I smile, and he looks at me amazed.
"I've been living here for a year," I turn to look at him, and he quickly crosses my path. "Some of your things have already been brought here, the essentials."
"Yes, thank you," I reply as Harry enters the code to open the door.
"It's today's date, November fifteenth. I set it so you could remember it," I look at him and simply smile.
Harry enters, and I follow behind him. It's a very large apartment with two floors, and the decoration is beautiful. Finally, Harry shows me his room and then mine. We're not going to sleep together.
"Well, the only thing left for me to say is welcome to your new home," Harry smiles, and I feel a void in my stomach.
I don't want to be here; I'd like to go back to my house, lie in my bed, sleep, wake up, and have all of this be a bad dream.
I hate the damn contract.
