Chapter 15

Chapter 15
The city settled like a beast holding its breath.
For now.

But the air still crackled with something wrong.

Vexx and I stood side by side in the penthouse, eyes on the street below.

“Grell’s not just playing,” Vexx muttered. “He’s building an army. Shadows that can hear your song, and answer.”

I swallowed. “How do you fight something that lives in silence and noise at the same time?”

He smiled darkly. “By making sure the only voice they hear is yours.”

Later, in the underground vault...

The Choir was gathered, each siren’s veil lifted, faces pale but fierce.

They looked to me like queens preparing for war.

I felt their power humming in the air, a raw, ancient energy tied to my voice.

“We are ready,” the First Siren said softly. “But the shadows will not come alone.”

I nodded. “Neither will we.”

Suddenly, the room darkened.

The walls seemed to pulse with dark energy.

From the shadows stepped figures, wolves twisted by dark magic, eyes glowing red, snarling with unnatural hunger.

Vexx’s guards raised weapons, but the creatures were faster.

I lifted my hands and sang, my voice a weapon honed sharp and true.

The creatures faltered, snarled, and dissolved into smoke.

The Choir sang with me, their voices weaving a shield around us.

Back on the street, Grell watched from his lair.

He smiled, fingers tracing the black feather in his hand.

“The siren awakens,” he whispered. “But the night belongs to me.” The night air tasted sharp, electric, like the city itself was holding its breath, waiting.

Inside the penthouse, Vexx paced like a caged wolf, muscles tight, jaw clenched.

“I can feel them out there,” he said, voice low, rough. “Grell’s shadow wolves. Every one of them tuned to your song.”

I sat at the piano, fingers grazing the keys softly. “Then we’ll give them something they won’t forget.”

He raised a brow. “You really think your lullabies can beat bloodthirsty monsters?”

I smiled, cold and sure. “They’re not just lullabies anymore.”

Hours later, in the underground vault...

The Choir assembled in a circle, voices rising in a haunting melody that wrapped around the stone walls like silk and steel.

I stood in the center, heart pounding, feeling the power of a hundred voices blending with mine.

We weren’t just singing.

We were commanding.

Calling forth every shadow, every whisper, every ghost of the old magic buried beneath the city.

The air hummed with energy so thick it was almost visible.

Suddenly, the doors burst open.

Grell’s warlocks poured in, faces twisted with rage and dark purpose.

Vexx’s guards met them head-on, growls and gunfire echoing in the chamber.

I stayed focused, voice soaring, sharp, fierce, impossible to ignore.

One warlock screamed, clutching his ears, collapsing.

Another staggered back, smoke rising from his skin.

The Choir’s song was more than music, it was a weapon.

And I was its sword.

In the chaos, Vexx fought his way to me, eyes wild.

“You’re not just a weapon,” he shouted over the din. “You’re my weapon.”

I caught his gaze, fierce and honest. “Then use me.”

The war was no longer about packs or power.

It was about blood and lullabies, about who would survive the song.

And I was ready to sing until the city bled. The chaos was a living thing.

Gunfire echoed like thunder, mixing with the fierce, piercing song that spilled from my lips.

The warlocks lunged again, but each note I sang sliced through their dark magic like a blade.

Vexx fought beside me, fists and claws tearing through enemies, but his eyes never left me. Not once.

"Keep singing!" he roared, blocking a strike with his forearm.

I was shaking, exhaustion clawed at my bones, but I kept the melody flowing, weaving power and fury into every word.

Suddenly, the room trembled. The walls cracked.

The velvet throne behind me glowed, alive, hungry.

Then the First Siren stepped forward, voice joining mine in a fierce duet that shook the very ground.

“Together,” she whispered, “we are the storm.”

The warlocks faltered.

And in that moment, something deep inside me snapped open.

Power surged, raw and unstoppable.

I wasn’t just fighting anymore.

I was leading.

Vexx caught my eye, a wild grin breaking through his battle-scarred face.

“We’re just getting started, little siren.”

And the city? It was listening. The dust hung thick in the air, choking and sharp, but I couldn’t stop. Not now.

Vexx’s growls mixed with the war cries of our enemies, the clash of claws and steel ringing like thunder through the underground vault.

I sang. Not a lullaby this time. Not a gentle melody. But a war song, raw, fierce, and wild, echoing deep from the ancient parts of me I barely understood.

The Choir answered, their voices rising in a tempest around me, wrapping the battlefield in a sonic shield that burned through shadow and spell alike.

I saw Vexx move beside me, alpha, warrior, protector, his eyes flashing as he fought, unyielding.

Then, out of the chaos, Grell emerged.

His smile was cruel, triumphant.

“You think your songs can stop me?” he spat.

I met his gaze, voice unwavering despite the fire roaring inside me.

“No.”

“But they will.”

I raised my voice, the war hymn soaring higher, shaking the very bones of the city.

And in that moment, I knew, this battle wasn’t just for survival.

It was for the soul of everything we were fighting to protect.
