Chapter 4

Walking out of the luxury home I had only just moved into, I surprisingly felt neither sadness nor joy.

Now I had some savings in my account. After finding a hotel to stay in, I submitted my resignation in the system.

I was determined to fight for Krish's assets; my injuries and wounds couldn't just be erased with a divorce certificate.

But I hadn't anticipated how cruel Krish could be.

For several days, I didn't go to work. I spent my days contacting lawyers to divide the assets.

However, my subordinates called me.

They had been inexplicably fired by Krish.

"Boss, we have families to support; we can't handle this. Please come back. We really can't manage your marital issues, but we don't want to lose our jobs," several subordinates pleaded with tears in their eyes.

The company had been established for a few years, and I had my own jurisdiction.

These people had been with me for a long time, and their work capabilities were not in question.

But they didn't care about my situation; all they cared about was their own livelihood.

After thinking for a long time, I called Krish. He picked up almost immediately.

He usually ignored my calls, but now he was eager to respond.

"Why did you fire those people?"

Though his tone was still as cold as usual, there was a hint of pride: "It's my company. I can fire whoever I don't like, and as long as I give them adequate compensation, who dares to say otherwise?"

"Then why haven't you approved my resignation?"

"Because I don't want to let you go. Come back soon; the house has been in disarray for several days."

He still spoke in that commanding tone, as if I were his subordinate.

"Let Elsie take care of you; you're both going to have a child, so she's perfectly justified."

"Sophie, don't try to provoke me," Krish's tone darkened again.

I directly handed my phone to Elsie, who had a slight bump in her abdomen: "I've made room for you; Krish is still reluctant to let you be his nanny. You should persuade him."

"Krish…"

Elsie glanced at me, softly calling his name.

Krish's tone changed abruptly: "Sophie, what are you trying to do? Who told you to look for Elsie?"

I hung up the phone and looked at Elsie.

Back then, she was the school belle, pursued by countless admirers, yet she chose a poor boy.

Even though Krish was excellent, after graduating from university, he was still looked down upon.

Elsie had a passionate romance with him, and now that she was pregnant and trying to rise to power through the child, it seemed normal.

As the wife left behind, I should step aside.

"He cherishes you a lot. Just be good to him. As long as you convince him to give me half of the marital assets, I won't bother you about the several million you spent from our joint assets during the marriage," I told her.

Elsie was just as her name suggested-appearing delicate and lovely, like a flower.

She rubbed her belly and looked at me with some difficulty: "Sophie, you've misunderstood our relationship…"

I sighed, looking at Elsie: "There's only one chance. If you don't seize it, I won't give you a second. Go to the villa now; I'll give you the key card. Take good care of him."

Elsie clearly hadn't expected me to be so generous.

But when I offered her the card, she still accepted it.

I thought I had done a good deed, but the next day, Krish showed up at my hotel.

I had no idea how he found me. With his extensive connections, perhaps tracking me down wasn't difficult for him.

As soon as he saw me, he grabbed my arm: "Come back with me."

I retaliated with a loud slap across his face.

Clearly surprised by my sudden outburst, he froze for a moment.

Once he recovered, he yanked my wrist harshly and tried to shove me into the car.

I kicked and punched him, but he remained unfazed.

I knew he might be unwilling to accept it; after all, I was the one who ended things first.

But I had already communicated my bottom line to him, and he didn't adhere to it.

Maybe he still hadn't come to terms with the fact that I no longer loved him.

"I don't love you anymore. Is there any point in your relentless pursuit?"

I looked at him, articulating each word clearly.
