Chapter 61 Fortunately, Not Like Your Dad!
Catherine didn't say anything, her expression slightly awkward!
She'd been so busy these past few days with the Galactic Aurora Collective and making medicine for Felix that she really hadn't had time to think about Alexander.
Besides, he was a grown man - did he really need her to worry about him?
Alexander could tell what she was thinking from her expression. He chuckled softly, the magnetic laugh resonating from his chest making her ears tingle.
"Fine, just remember to miss me from now on, okay?"
"Got it."
Alexander smiled with satisfaction, holding her waist as they swayed in the dance floor. The cruise ship's party was brightly lit, filled with influential figures from all walks of life, yet everyone made way for Alexander and Catherine, giving them the center of the dance floor!
By the edge of the cruise ship, a young woman in a sharp suit carefully helped an elderly man with white hair into his seat.
"Mr. Martinez, please be careful. Let me go get you something to eat."
"No need, I'm fine sitting here."
This elderly man was the internationally renowned writer Samuel Martinez, who had won multiple world literature awards and held a significant position in the global literary world.
"Who's that dancing? They look kind of familiar."
"I don't know. If you're interested, I'll go ask."
Samuel shook his head, but his gaze remained on the dancing girl. Her green gauzy dress swayed like an elf, each dance step like a carefully designed work of art - simply a masterpiece!
The more Samuel watched, the more excited he became. He instructed his secretary, "Go call her over. I want to ask if this young lady would be willing to be the inspiration for my new book!"
"Yes, please wait."
Samuel watched with growing interest. Seeing this young lady seemed to bring him infinite vitality and youth all at once! It reminded him of past years, and suddenly he had a breakthrough in his creative block!
"Miss, Mr. Martinez would like to chat with you. Do you have time?"
Catherine looked at Samuel sitting by the window gazing at the moonlight, somewhat surprised.
The literary master Samuel who appeared on the Stellara literary magazine's front page every week - wasn't that her grandfather?
Aurora's parents had gone abroad for health reasons recently, so they hadn't attended her birthday party!
Alexander also saw Samuel and walked over holding Catherine's hand.
"Mr. Martinez, long time no see."
"Alexander? Wait a minute, don't you have an engagement with my granddaughter? Why are you holding this young lady's hand? Let me tell you, don't think you can bully my granddaughter just because your family is rich and powerful! I'll beat you up! Tell me, what's your relationship with this pretty girl? I saw everything - you were holding her hand and hugging her just now!"
Alexander fell silent.
Samuel had been a war correspondent in his youth, so his temper was quite fierce. The fact that he was speaking to him this way was already restrained.
Catherine said obediently, "Grandpa, are you feeling better?"
Samuel froze.
Wait!
What did this girl just call him? Grandpa!
"You're Catherine? I thought you looked so much like your mother when she was young! Good thing you don't look like your father, or that would be terrible. Look at your brothers who look like your dad, especially Richard - so ugly it's unbearable to look at."
Catherine was speechless.
Although Richard looked most like Bethany, his face was recognized as the most handsome in the entertainment industry!
"Come, come sit beside me. Anna, go get Catherine something to eat. Alexander can stand - looking just like your grandfather means you're definitely no good!"
Secretary Anna suppressed a laugh, bowing apologetically to indicate Alexander shouldn't be angry - Samuel was just like that.
"Yes, what would Ms. Windsor like? I'll get it right away."
"Anything is fine, I've already eaten."
Samuel held Catherine's hand, smiling so broadly the wrinkles on his face nearly disappeared.
"Catherine, who gave you your name? Excellent! Just hearing this name, you know it's a child of the Windsor family!"
"It was the grandmother of the family who adopted me."
Samuel looked at Alexander standing by the table, frowned and waved his hand.
"Sit down, what does it look like standing there? Is this how Felix raised you?"
"Yes, thank you."
Alexander knew Samuel's temperament - he'd always been at odds with Felix, and with his engagement to Catherine, it was normal for Samuel to dislike him.
This respectful attitude made the wrinkles on Samuel's face smooth out considerably, clearly very satisfied!
This Alexander had good sense - if he ever discovered Alexander fooling around outside and wronging Catherine, he'd definitely break his legs!
"Catherine, what are you doing here? What for?"
"He brought me."
Alexander explained, "Grandpa, the scenery in these international waters is nice. First, I brought Catherine out to relax, and second, to let people know who Catherine is - after all, she's my future wife."
Samuel looked at Alexander with satisfaction, though his nose let out a cold snort.
"Smart of you! Catherine, I just got back and couldn't make it to your birthday party. Don't be upset!"
"I won't. You look pretty good. Does your head still hurt lately?"
Samuel looked at Catherine even more tenderly, smiling, "Your mother told you? Much better. Your grandmother Grace Long has been working on a very important experiment lately with blocked communications - even I can't see her! She doesn't know you're back yet. She'll be so happy when she finds out!"
Speaking of this, Samuel couldn't wait to tell Grace the news about seeing their granddaughter.
"You don't know, the last time I saw her, Juniper had to take me in! Tell me, is she spending her life with me or with the laboratory?"
Though Samuel said this, his eyes couldn't hide his longing.
Alexander took out his phone and sent a few messages. Soon he received confirmation, and looked up with a warm smile on his face.
"I've arranged it. Grandma can come home this weekend."
"Really? Alexander, you've actually done something good! Catherine, come home with Juniper then. Your grandmother must miss you terribly! I just hope it won't affect her experiment!"
Catherine nodded obediently.
"Juniper seems to have gone back to Tranquil County yesterday. She prepared gifts for you both. I'll bring them together this weekend."
"Good, good, you're all such thoughtful children."
Juniper was raised by Samuel as a child, so his feelings for her were especially deep. Seeing Juniper and Catherine getting along so well put them at ease!
"Although saying this makes me feel ashamed, Catherine, Juniper is innocent. When she was little, we actually suspected Juniper wasn't your parents' child and took her for a paternity test. The result at that time actually showed a parent-child relationship! That's why we were confused for so many years, and you're only coming back now!"
Speaking of past events, Samuel felt somewhat wistful.
"Why did you suspect? And why did it show a parent-child relationship?"
Samuel said matter-of-factly, "Well, she was just too smart. I didn't think your father's IQ could produce such a smart daughter, so I took her for a test!"
Catherine was silent.
"I'm not talking about you, Catherine. You take after your mother - of course you're smart!"
"As for why there was a parent-child relationship back then..."
