Chapter 56 Clara Loses Face in Public
Clara was dying of jealousy!
"I heard the boss of Radiant Entertainment is an old guy, over fifty, and his last name happens to be Windsor too. Catherine's last name is Windsor now - could she be someone's kept woman?"
This kind of thing wasn't uncommon in the entertainment industry.
Lucas looked at the poster and felt tempted. If Catherine really planned to debut, that would actually be a good thing. As long as he had some dirt on her past, he wouldn't have to worry about her not obeying him in the future!
Clara's mind was in chaos. She decided to hurry home and ask what was really going on.
Even if Catherine did debut, she definitely wouldn't last long!
Meanwhile.
The principal brought Catherine and Charles to the principal's office and respectfully handed over some documents.
"Mr. Windsor, these are Esme's records at the school. She got in because Lila donated a building to the school. Her foundation is indeed quite weak."
Charles somehow produced an elegant cup from nowhere, poured water for Catherine, tested the temperature with his hand against the cup, handed it to her, and only then spoke unhurriedly.
"I won't look at the documents. Just tell me verbally. Esme has indeed been a poor student since childhood. In your opinion, would this be a reason for classmates to bully her?"
The principal shook his head vigorously.
"Are you joking with me? Who would dare bully Esme!"
It would be good enough if she didn't bully others.
Charles knew Marcus's personality. When the Windsor family children went to school, he never used his privileges to benefit them, let alone throw his weight around.
He frowned. "Has my grandfather come to school to see Esme?"
"No, Mr. Windsor is so busy, how would he have time? It was Esme herself who announced at the opening ceremony that she was Marcus's granddaughter."
Marcus kept a low profile, but that couldn't stop Esme from being high-profile!
Charles was speechless.
"Since enrolling, Esme rarely comes to class. She always says she's at the hospital taking care of Marcus, and shares photos of herself caring for Marcus on social media."
"This time she hired someone to take the exam for her. Here are the test papers."
Two test papers lay before them, one showing a score of only 58.
Charles frowned. "Did she hire someone for all her exams?"
"Yes. But our school's exams are quite difficult. Esme hasn't attended a single class, so scoring 58 on the exam is actually pretty good."
The principal was sweating bullets.
These were the most complimentary words he could manage to say, and even he found them ridiculous.
Judging by how Charles cared for Catherine beside him, he probably cared about Esme too. If he got angry, the school would be the one in trouble.
Catherine glanced at the test paper and said calmly, "Do you have a blank test paper? And give me a pen."
Charles thought she was bored waiting, so he told the principal, "Bring a blank test paper."
The principal searched for a long time and finally only found a medical competition test paper for graduate students.
"This is all I have. This test is extremely difficult - even Gavin only scored 80 on it. Just take a look."
"Thanks."
The principal was also worried Catherine might mess around. If she scribbled something random, he'd still have to find a way to praise it.
But watching Catherine, she was poised and measured - so much better than Esme who acted all high and mighty every time she came to the office.
The principal got a headache just hearing that phrase "Do you know who my grandfather is?"
"How are Esme's relationships at school? Just tell the truth."
"Pretty good. Mainly because Esme looks down on other students completely. She says they're all poor people. Plus she basically doesn't come to class, so she doesn't interact with classmates at all! The relationships are very good!"
Given Esme's personality, Charles could guess what kind of things she might do at school.
Catherine put down her pen and handed the test paper to the principal.
"You're done already? This test has a lot of technical terms, it's normal if you don't understand... Wait a minute!"
The principal looked at the answers and formulas written on the test paper and nearly choked on his own saliva!
He didn't even have the answer key for this test - he'd need to pull it up from the medical network.
"Mr. Windsor, please wait a moment!"
Five minutes later, the principal looked at Catherine like she was an absolute genius!
Even Gavin only scored 80 on this test, but Catherine got 99!
She lost one point because her paper was full of calculation processes, losing a bit on presentation.
But it also proved that she really had completed this test in just ten minutes!
"Ms. Windsor, would you be interested in enrolling at our school? We'll send you an invitation for a combined bachelor's, master's, and doctoral program!"
Catherine shook her head. "No."
She was just bored waiting and wanted to see how difficult this school's tests actually were.
She ended up getting a test she had written herself. Gavin only scored 80 on it, so she went ahead and wrote out the solution processes for several key problems.
Consider it payment for Gavin helping her with experiments.
Charles's eyes lit up, and he looked at Catherine with particular warmth.
"Catherine, are you interested in studying medicine? George could teach you. As long as you like it, I'll set up a lab for you right away."
"No, it's just that the old person who raised me wasn't in good health, so I learned a bit. I don't really like it."
If it weren't for taking care of Elodie, she wouldn't have studied medicine at all.
The principal looked somewhat disappointed, gazing at Catherine hopefully.
"If you change your mind, please remember to come find me!"
Catherine nodded and looked at the failing test paper on the desk. "As for this test, it's way too simple. If your school needs someone to write tests in the future, you can come to me."
"Great! Even if you don't come to study, we'd be grateful for any guidance!"
Her test questions might cause Medical University's delayed graduation rate to rise significantly.
"Catherine, what major do you want to study?"
"Haven't decided. Anything is fine, but a school close to home would be better."
Bethany, Aurora, Charles, George, Richard, and Philip all liked to have meals with her. If it was too far away, they'd be the first to object.
She didn't really want to go to college anyway. For her, she'd already learned everything taught in college - going to school would just be a waste of time.
It was only because in many days and nights, Elodie would hold her in the rocking chair, swaying back and forth while watching the moon.
"Catherine must go to a very good university in the future, go to the best school. You need to leave this place and go somewhere better!"
"If I leave, what about you?"
Elodie smiled, fanning herself and gently patting her back.
"Me? I'll become the moon, always watching over you from the sky. So you can't go bad - you must go to college!"
Those memories were already sealed away, but they were beautiful times Catherine would never forget in this life!
Catherine's phone flashed with an encrypted number. She stood up. "Charles, I'm going out to take a call."
Charles also had some things to ask the principal privately. "Okay, don't go far."
Catherine stood in the hallway and pressed the answer button.
"Boss, Celeste is planning to move Elodie's grave!"
"Move the grave? Isn't Elodie's grave in a good spot?"
"Yes, Elodie's grave is in an excellent location, so Celeste wants to remove Elodie's coffin and have her own parents buried there later!"
"Boss, we paid a fortune for that grave. If someone digs it up, where will Elodie rest?"
