Chapter 41 Oliver Was Kicked Out!
Early in the morning, Starry Residence was packed with visitors. Both the Windsor family at Moonlight Mansion and the Howard family at Sunlit Mansion were crowded with people.
Who told them that the Howard family and the Windsor family's houses were right next to each other!
They had prepared two gifts just in case they caught someone's eye.
Gift-givers were practically breaking down the Windsor family's door!
Several people close to Esme were green with envy seeing such a grand scene!
"Esme, your family treats you so well. To throw such a big party for your birthday, and I heard they even transferred the house to your name."
"Esme, you're so lucky. I heard today's event is being broadcast globally. Your parents really love you!"
Esme's expression stiffened a bit!
"It's not my birthday."
Her friends thought she was just being shy.
"We know your birthday is next week, but the Windsor family only has one daughter. If it's not your birthday, whose birthday would it be? Your parents and brothers probably want to celebrate with you privately next week, so they're throwing you an early party!"
"We're so jealous!"
Esme felt extremely awkward.
But she had no idea how to refute them!
Only she knew how much she wished all of this was really for her!
"Don't say that. My parents don't like being so high-profile."
Someone nudged Esme's shoulder playfully.
With a teasing smile, they said, "You're so lucky. Just to be near you, your fiancé bought the building next door. It's so enviable."
"Alexander is that romantic?"
"I wish I had such a romantic and thoughtful fiancé!"
Alexander actually bought the building next door?
It must be because of her!
He had no idea the Windsor family had another daughter, so buying that house must have been for her.
Esme felt a surge of happiness.
"Not really, I'll invite you all over sometime."
Esme's friends all made envious sounds.
Meanwhile.
Oliver had been waiting at the hotel for half the day, but none of the company bosses showed up for the meal.
Even the cheapest banquet he'd ordered was getting cold.
The secretary made over a dozen phone calls before running over to Oliver, wiping cold sweat.
"Mr. Smith, all four company bosses went to the Windsor family to give gifts. I heard today is the Windsor family's daughter's birthday party."
Oliver perked up: "If all four company bosses are going to give gifts, the Windsor family really is something special. Prepare a gift, we're going too!"
If he could get the Windsor family to notice him, would he still worry about finding business partners?
Oliver started fantasizing that as long as the Windsor family was willing to support him, the Smith Group could become the richest in Serenitia City tomorrow!
"What should we give Ms. Windsor?"
Oliver took a bite of food and almost spit it out.
Even the cheapest banquet used leftover ingredients that weren't fresh.
He put down his fork and wiped his mouth.
"The Windsor family is used to fine things. Ms. Windsor probably won't appreciate anything. It's the thought that counts!"
"Just grab something from Celeste's jewelry box, and we'll head to Imperia City right away."
"Okay, I'll get it now!"
Whenever he needed to give gifts, Oliver would just take something from Celeste's vanity box.
Even if Celeste found out later, she couldn't really say anything.
An hour later, Oliver's car stopped at the entrance of Starry Residence in Imperia City.
As soon as he got out, Oliver was completely shocked by the scene before him!
"Ms. Windsor's birthday is really something else. There are so many people!"
Basically everyone you'd normally only see in business news was now holding gift boxes, lining up to register at the Windsor family's door!
"Come on, bring up our gift. As long as someone notices our company, the Smith family will take off. It'd be even better if the Windsor family takes a liking to us."
Oliver held the box, glanced at the pearl necklace inside, and joined the gift-giving queue.
"The Smith family from Serenitia City, here to give a gift to Ms. Windsor."
Dylan, who was recording the gift list, froze.
The name sounded familiar, like the family he'd seen when he went to pick up Catherine.
Dylan looked up and sure enough saw Oliver's familiar face!
Thinking about how they had the nerve to publish a newspaper announcement cutting ties with Catherine, Dylan wanted to curse them out!
Catherine was such a good kid. Since coming back, she visited Marcus almost every day, and everyone from Marcus's leaders and comrades to the security guards at Bright Heal Hospital praised her!
Dylan said coldly: "We're not accepting it. Leave."
Oliver panicked!
"Why not? I'm here to give Ms. Windsor a gift and wish her a happy birthday!"
Dylan turned to the servants behind him: "Go get someone."
When Charles, George, Richard, and Philip heard that the Smith family was causing trouble at the banquet hall, they all turned on their intimidating presence, put on their coats, and walked out!
All four were outstanding men. Their tall frames in black tailcoats made them look like princes and knights from a fairy tale, except they all had cold faces, and their fierce presence made everyone outside the banquet hall tremble!
When Oliver saw these four men, his calves started cramping involuntarily.
How nice it would be if one of them was his son-in-law. The Smith family would never have to worry again.
Charles said coldly: "The Windsor family doesn't welcome you. Get lost."
Oliver broke out in a cold sweat!
"I'm just here to give Ms. Windsor a gift. You don't need to be so harsh."
George: "I don't mind beating you half-paralyzed before throwing you out."
Oliver was stunned.
When did he offend the Windsor family? Why were they threatening violence right off the bat?
Richard: "Dylan, next time someone causes trouble at our door, just throw them out!"
Oliver was shocked.
Did the Windsor family have no sense of law!
Philip grabbed Oliver by the collar and threw him out!
"Today is my sister's birthday. Get your eyesore of a presence out of here."
Charles looked at the now silent crowd and pulled his lips into a domineering cold smile.
"Sorry for the embarrassment, everyone. Today is my sister's birthday party. The Windsor family only welcomes people with genuine good wishes. People like the Smith family who can't tell right from wrong and abandon the daughter they raised for eighteen years - the Windsor family is ashamed to associate with them!"
With that, Charles, George, Richard, and Philip turned and left.
Oliver clutched his bruised backside, his heart in turmoil.
What was going on?
Why was the Windsor family so hostile toward him?
With the Windsor family taking that stance, everyone present who wanted to curry favor with them immediately stepped back, drawing a clear line with Oliver on the spot.
They weren't with the Smith family!
They couldn't let the Windsor family get the wrong idea!
Oliver's face burned with shame. With his secretary's help, he clutched his backside and ran off.
Beside Esme, her group of friends saw the commotion at the entrance and looked puzzled.
"Esme, what's wrong with your brothers? Did the Smith family offend you?"
"Esme's brothers are so handsome. Each one is my type."
Esme wore a proper smile on her face, but the handkerchief in her hand was nearly torn to shreds!
That Catherine had been kicked out by the Smith family, so why were Charles, George, Richard, and Philip still so good to her!
If only she could get them to acknowledge her as the Windsor family's only daughter at the birthday party, then everything at this party would rightfully be hers!
A calculating gleam flashed in Esme's eyes.
