Chapter 26 The Johnson Family Can Go Bankrupt
On the surveillance screen, every movement in Room 8 could be seen clearly.
As the owner of The Velvet Lounge, Catherine had set up a special room when she first reserved her own space—one that could monitor all the private rooms!
Only she could access this room!
She had personally modified the surveillance system to capture every detail in the corners.
Eli and Ethan's every move was within the surveillance range.
Alexander frowned slightly, pointing at the box Ethan was holding on the screen. "They actually want to make the deal here?"
"Looks like it."
"We should call the police. If they complete this transaction, who knows how many families will suffer."
Catherine nodded. "I've already called the police. This video is being shared directly with international narcotics officers."
Alexander was somewhat surprised.
"You have connections with international narcotics police?"
"About three years ago, I had dealings with them while taking a job in Northern Myanterra."
Alexander's pupils contracted slightly. He had also been in Northern Myanterra three years ago!
"Did you save someone in Northern Myanterra?"
"I've saved many people."
Catherine's brow furrowed slightly, her eyes gleaming in the darkness. For a moment, Alexander was reminded of three years ago when he nearly fell off a cliff, and a masked girl reached out her hand to him!
That girl had the same eyes!
So it was her!
Catherine watched the surveillance, her gaze falling on Charles in a corner downstairs.
Why would Charles be here?
She looked at Alexander. "Let's split up. You go to the third floor—there's another group of drug dealers meeting there. I'll go downstairs to check."
Alexander grabbed Catherine's wrist, his handsome face full of concern. "Be careful. I'll take you home later."
"Okay."
At the booth, Charles and a suited man across from him were drinking and chatting happily.
Catherine squeezed through the crowd, finding Jared Wells who was dancing. "There are some bombs on the second floor. Get someone to defuse them."
"Why are you everywhere? I just started having fun five minutes ago and now I have to defuse bombs!"
"Cut the crap and go. You have half an hour."
As the second-in-command of Faceless Ones, Jared's bomb disposal skills were second to none in the international mercenary corps—except for losing to Catherine a few years ago, after which he completely accepted defeat.
"Half an hour? You really underestimate me."
"There are twenty-three of them."
Jared was shocked.
If so many bombs triggered a chain reaction, not just this bar but half the district would be leveled!
Half an hour to defuse twenty-three bombs—that was too much!
"If you don't finish, I'll dock a year's salary."
A whole year!
All bosses really are damn capitalists!
Jared was furious but didn't dare speak out!
Charles's voice sounded behind Catherine.
"Catherine? What are you doing here?"
"Charles."
Charles pulled Catherine outside, protecting her from the chaotic crowd, carefully bringing her to the booth.
"Let me introduce you—my sister Catherine. Catherine, this is Mr. Dixon."
While making introductions, Charles personally cleaned a glass until it was spotless, then poured Catherine a glass of juice.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming here?"
"Just came to hang out."
Lucas's annoying face flashed through Charles's mind, and he frowned. "Are you alone?"
"I have a friend upstairs."
Upstairs, so she wasn't meeting Lucas. Charles breathed a sigh of relief.
"Catherine, it's not that I don't want you to go out and have fun, it's just that it's too dangerous out there. Next time you want to go out, tell me in advance, and never go out alone!"
Catherine was speechless.
She really wanted to tell Charles she was eighteen, not eight.
But facing Charles's worried and caring expression, and his almost tangible concern, Catherine felt warmth in her heart.
"Okay, I'll listen to you."
Nolan, who had been ignored on the side, was extremely surprised.
The oil tycoon who was decisive in business, the negotiation expert who handled contracts worth billions of dollars, was acting like this in front of Catherine?
"It's getting late. Let me take you home."
"No need. I already arranged with my friend—he'll take me home."
Charles nodded and reached out to touch Catherine's hair.
Catherine caught sight of several plainclothes officers in her peripheral vision and smiled sweetly at Charles. "Charles, my friend is here. I'll go now."
Charles was a bit worried but didn't want to control her too much and make her unhappy, so he just gave her lots of reminders before watching her meet up with some people in the crowd.
Nolan was truly shocked!
Charles turned around, the warmth disappearing from his face, replaced by coldness.
"Mr. Dixon, about the Johnson family in Serenitia City we just discussed—I want them bankrupt within a month. Make it big. I want everyone to know about their bankruptcy."
The Johnson family in Serenitia City was just a small family in the Windsor family's eyes, not worth Charles's personal attention.
Charles came to him because he valued his tens of thousands of marketing accounts.
The Johnson family was really lucky—going bankrupt and still getting Charles's attention.
"Rest assured."
The international police officers stood before Catherine, speaking respectfully. "The organization received the video you sent. This time we'll definitely catch Eli and Ethan!"
Thanks to Catherine's help, many of their anti-drug operations had proceeded smoothly!
Catherine received a message from Jared—all bombs had been successfully defused.
She nodded to the officers and sent Jared a message.
"Announce that The Velvet Lounge is closing for the night. Clear everyone out except Room 9 on the fourth floor. Spare no expense."
"Yes!"
All the speakers at The Velvet Lounge began broadcasting the evacuation announcement!
"Why are they closing so early today?"
"Let's go. Remember last time when someone made trouble during evacuation? Those people's families all went bankrupt."
The Velvet Lounge had its own special security department. Over a hundred security guards stood at the door with grim faces, escorting customers out.
Charles's car was parked outside. After waiting a long time, he still hadn't seen Catherine.
Nolan tried to reassure him. "Mr. Charles Windsor, Ms. Catherine Windsor probably left with her friend. I just saw all the inside customers leave."
Charles was getting anxious!
He'd made over a dozen calls, and Catherine hadn't answered any!
Just as he couldn't help but rush in to find her, Catherine's call came through.
"Charles, I didn't hear my phone earlier. I'm on my way home now. See you at home."
"Good, as long as you're okay. I'll be home right away!"
Alexander's car merged into the main road of Imperia City, joining the flow of traffic.
He glanced at Catherine's face. The lights fell on her soft, beautiful features like a serene painting of a beauty under lamplight.
"You must be tired. You can sleep for a bit—I'll wake you later."
Alexander's voice was incredibly gentle. His cuffs still had some blood drops that blended with his dazzling ruby cufflinks—violence and tenderness intertwined in him, like an angel and demon whispering together!
Alexander took out a bag from the back seat and handed it to Catherine.
Inside were fruit milk and cake he'd just brought from the bar.
Tonight's activities had been quite intense. He hadn't considered beforehand whether Catherine had eaten. Seeing her pale complexion, she might have low blood sugar.
It was his fault for not arranging everything in advance.
Catherine looked at the bag on her lap.
He still had blood on him—she could imagine how dangerous the situation had been. Yet in such circumstances, he still thought to bring her something to eat?
Catherine suddenly felt emotional about what kind of opponent she'd encountered.
Or perhaps, also a friend.
Alexander watched her take small bites of cake, her smooth profile slightly puffed out, her flawless skin smooth and delicate, as cute as a little hamster.
"Catherine, do you know about the Howard family in Imperia City?"
"Do you have a mission?"
Alexander touched his nose and coughed lightly.
"Sort of."
Catherine shook her head. "No, I don't know them. I'm not interested in big families."
Her wish had always been to live peacefully and steadily. She had no interest in investigating those big families.
That's why after returning to the Windsor family, she only then learned that the Windsor family was one of Imperia City's three major families!
