Chapter 241: About to Have a Daughter-in-Law
Emilia dragged George as they ran wildly through the estate.
George dealt with the people chasing them from behind while still remembering to check on Emilia.
"Did you find what you were looking for?"
"I found it! Just some small stuff, not worth getting you in trouble with me!"
"Shut up."
The two stumbled along as they ran, finally managing to shake off the bodyguards behind them and got into a taxi parked by the roadside.
Without questioning why there would be a taxi here, George fastened his seatbelt while instructing: "To Starry Residence!"
The taxi driver Dubhe, wearing sunglasses, casually pressed down the meter.
"Alright, hold on tight."
The taxi sped away, followed by more than a dozen cars, sparks flying from the ground!
When the taxi entered downtown, countless surveillance cameras formed a dense network, and they finally reached a safe zone.
George breathed a sigh of relief, but his brows furrowed.
"Which taxi company are you with?"
Those beautiful drift moves that shook off their pursuers earlier - George wasn't even sure he could do better than Dubhe.
Dubhe adjusted his cap and mask, pointing to the ID badge beside him.
"I used to be a race car driver. Old habits die hard. Sorry about that."
George looked at the information and, still not entirely reassured, took out his phone to scan the QR code on it!
Only after seeing in the driver's profile that he was indeed a retired professional race car driver from a well-known racing team did George relax.
"I didn't mean anything by it. You're very skilled. I'll give you a good review later."
"Thank you so much!"
The Windsor family was cautious, and the Galactic Aurora Collective was equally careful in their work.
The real taxi driver was still sleeping in the trunk. The information Dubhe had posted was driver information that had been altered by the Galactic Aurora Collective.
After George scanned it this time, when he opened the page again, he would find it was a temporary webpage that would self-destruct after viewing!
After confirming the driver was fine, George called Philip and they discussed what they had heard at Ezekiel's estate.
The earpiece Dubhe was wearing was broadcasting everything happening here in real-time.
He relayed everything George had encountered to Catherine word for word.
Philip: "Although Ezekiel is bold, these things aren't something his methods and connections could pull off. I'll dig deeper into his company and give him some extra trouble to deal with."
"Okay, I'll go find Charles later."
Charles was currently having dinner with Catherine and wasn't answering his phone.
The car stopped at Starry Residence. George used facial recognition to let the taxi enter smoothly, stopping at the entrance of The Windsor Mansion, and got out after scanning the code.
Dubhe watched George and Emilia's backs and lowered his voice: "Delivered safely."
Catherine felt relieved, and the connection was cut.
Just as they walked through the door, Aurora saw George with his disheveled clothes and Emilia following behind him, and let out a scream!
Her hands trembling, Aurora pointed at George's tattered clothes and at Emilia, whose face was flushed from nervousness and fear.
Emilia's clothes were also torn, and the exposed skin was a bit red - all from accidental scrapes at Ezekiel's estate.
Aurora's mind raced.
"George, what have you been doing?"
George looked at Aurora in confusion. "What? Nothing?"
Aurora could barely breathe, terrified that the inappropriate scenes in her mind had become reality.
"Go change your clothes right now! What do you look like dressed like that? People who don't know might think you're doing some weird performance art."
Only then did George remember his clothes weren't presentable and quickly went upstairs to change!
Aurora grabbed Emilia's hand, her face full of anxiety and tension.
"Emilia, George didn't bully you, did he?"
Emilia shook her head in confusion. "No, he took good care of me."
"That's good, that's good. So when are you moving into the Windsor Villa to live with me?"
"What? That wouldn't be appropriate, would it?"
Aurora happily settled the matter.
"It's appropriate, very appropriate. Catherine will be going to school in a few days, and Juniper isn't home either. I just want a girl to keep me company. You living here would be very convenient!"
Most importantly, if she wasn't wrong and George really did something shameless, they had to give Emilia some kind of answer!
Aurora was even a bit excited - was she about to have a daughter-in-law!
Imperial University.
Charles's car stopped at the school gate. "You really don't want me to come with you?"
Catherine got out of the car while declining Charles's offer.
"Vincent invited me here. It shouldn't be anything major. You go take care of your own business."
"Then I'll come pick you up later. Give me a call in a bit."
"Okay."
Only after repeatedly reminding her did Charles feel comfortable leaving.
The incident at Ezekiel's estate was too big. Alexander was called back halfway by Felix, who was working overtime at the company. Charles also had plenty of things to handle, so after dropping Catherine off at the school gate, he hurried back to the company.
Catherine walked toward the location she had agreed on with Vincent while pressing the communicator by her ear.
Alkaid's voice came through: "Boss, Vincent and I are waiting for you at the auditorium! I found out that Ezekiel and Tiberius have been in constant contact."
"Work-related?"
"It looks like it, but my sixth sense tells me it's not that simple. The frequency of their calls doesn't match the frequency of their collaboration. Neither Ezekiel nor Tiberius seems like the type to call a good friend in the middle of the night to chat."
Alkaid shrugged.
"Besides, their ages don't match up as good friends, they don't seem like real father and son, and they don't seem like lovers either. Beyond business cooperation, they probably have other things to share."
Faced with Alkaid's simple and blunt reasoning, Catherine was silent for a moment.
"When you have nothing to do, do more experiments and watch less weird stuff."
With school starting soon, there were already quite a few students on campus.
The sound of a wheelchair came from behind Catherine. A slightly impatient male voice interrupted Catherine's thoughts, and the electric wheelchair stopped in front of her.
"Excuse me, do you know how to get to the auditorium?"
The person in the wheelchair wore a shirt with perfectly matched cufflinks. His sickly pale face carried a touch of perfectly placed fragility, and his lips held an elegant, gentle smile.
Just this appearance alone made many students stop and stare.
Catherine raised her eyebrows slightly. A patient with aortic dissection, discharged from the hospital so quickly - it definitely wasn't because Gavin thought his career was over and wanted to let loose.
Most likely, Tiberius had run out on his own.
Catherine withdrew her gaze and walked right past Tiberius.
"I don't know."
Tiberius operated his wheelchair, following alongside Catherine.
"Are you going to the auditorium too? Then I'll go with you."
"I'm not going to the auditorium. I'm going to the library."
"Perfect, I also need to go to the library. Let's go together."
Catherine glanced coolly at Tiberius sitting in the wheelchair. The campus light filtered through the tree branches, falling on him and adding a touch of warmth.
Catherine coldly curved her lips, her gaze falling on Tiberius's wheelchair with slight mockery.
"What a coincidence? Wherever I go, you go? So if I'm going to the rooftop to sunbathe, you're going too?"
