Chapter 165: Driving and Crashing Oliver, Crash Multiple Times!
Megrez, the most famous jade authentication master in the jade circle, charges hefty fees, but every appraisal is absolutely professional!
Oliver spent quite a bit of money just to avoid making a mistake and giving the valuable item to Catherine.
That would be such a loss!
Sophia, who was filming on set, opened the image and was so amused she whistled.
Both the call and the images came through to Catherine's phone.
"Boss, this idiot can't even recognize jade, and he's asking me if it's valuable? I think his brain is just for show."
"Tell him it's just a broken stone. This sculpture contains a video my grandmother recorded before she died. It's very important."
"Got it."
After hanging up, Sophia took the money without hesitation and replied to Oliver.
[Pebble.]
Oliver stared at the word "pebble" on his screen, dumbfounded!
He had paid a hundred thousand dollars, and Megrez dismissed him with just a few words?
But Megrez's position in the circle was so important that even with just those few words, Oliver breathed a sigh of relief, put away his phone, casually picked up the sculpture, and headed out.
Thinking that the highly valuable bracelet would soon be his, Oliver's heart was practically soaring!
On set, Sophia put away her phone and looked at Clara, who was looking around everywhere in the corner.
As Sophia walked past Clara, she said casually, "I heard the boss of the Smith Group in Serenitia City has a very valuable bracelet. Wonder if it's being saved for their own child."
Clara's head snapped up, looking at Sophia's retreating figure in disbelief!
The family has a valuable bracelet?
How come she knew nothing about this?
Celeste hadn't told her, and Oliver was hiding it from her too. Wouldn't everything from the Smith family eventually be hers?
Clara felt infinitely wronged!
She didn't understand why. She had worked hard as a supporting actress on set to prove her worth, hoping to become famous one day and crush Catherine beneath her feet, yet the Smith family always treated her like an outsider.
Damn it, no one should try to take what belongs to her!
Clara quietly disappeared from the set, unnoticed by anyone.
Clara changed into her own clothes and took a taxi racing toward the city center.
Probably because she was too tired, she fell asleep halfway through the ride.
Oliver, sitting in his car, had the broken stone maple tree sculpture placed casually beside him. He had examined it many times along the way and indeed found nothing special about this stone.
Only someone as unsophisticated as Catherine would treasure such a worthless thing!
Oliver suppressed his inner excitement and arrived at the agreed location, a desolate suburb where not a single person could be seen in any direction.
After waiting for a long time without the driver showing up, Oliver simply placed the sculpture on the ground.
Just as he set it down, a car came racing toward him. Oliver thought the driver had arrived and got secretly excited!
His bracelet! The Smith family would soon have money!
But the car showed no signs of slowing down, and even seemed to be accelerating!
Oliver panicked and quickly dodged to the side, but the car made a turn and slammed solidly into him, sending Oliver flying far away.
A car door opened from another vehicle following not far behind, and shiny black leather shoes stepped onto the dry grass. Richard bent down to pick up the maple tree sculpture from the ground.
As if he hadn't seen anything happening around him, he let out an exclamation of admiration.
"What a beautiful maple tree, so well carved. It looks like the work of master sculptor Ryder. The market price has been skyrocketing these past few days! No wonder Grandma Elodie loved maple trees - something this beautiful, I love it too."
Philip took it and while admiring the maple tree sculpture in his hands, gave orders in a flat tone.
"Run over him a few more times. If he dares to scheme against Catherine, he should experience what an accidental car crash feels like! Oh, and keep him alive."
For trash like Oliver, dying like this would be letting him off too easy.
Only by staying alive could he experience endless suffering!
Saturn's call came through to Catherine's phone.
"Boss, found it. The IP of the person who contacted Oliver to buy the bracelet came from Ironclad Jail, and the last signal traced for the person trying to kill Marcus also disappeared nearby."
"Keep tracking."
"Also, Oliver got into a car accident. The driver was Clara."
Catherine was somewhat surprised, then understood. "The Windsor family did this?"
Saturn recounted what happened.
"Boss, these two brothers of yours are as ruthless as you are. Truly a family! Oliver will probably be paralyzed for the rest of his life, but it's all what he deserves!"
Who told that Oliver to abuse Catherine in all sorts of ways before!
Catherine said flatly, "Got it. Send me the IP where the signal last disappeared. I'll go check it out myself tomorrow."
"Okay."
Putting away her phone, the car stopped in front of an antique manor. The manor occupied over 5,000 square feet and was built entirely like a castle, looking like entering a real fairy tale world.
Alexander looked at the manor, slightly surprised.
"The Harrison family? So Dominic came to celebrate Owen Harrison's birthday."
The Harrison family, known in Stellara for making their fortune in antiques, calligraphy and paintings, had quite a solid foundation. Basically, walking around their home, you could see antiques from different eras at any time.
Alexander explained in a low voice, "Catherine, Owen is Marcus's old war buddy. He has close ties with both our families. For Owen's birthday, we should come pay our respects too."
Since Marcus and Felix were getting old, such occasions were usually attended by the younger generation. Sending gifts counted as paying respects.
Catherine didn't expect there was such history.
Dominic straightened his clothes and handed the box in his hand to Alexander.
"What are you looking at? You carry the gift I prepared! Such a heavy thing, and you want my student to carry it? Don't you know how to treat a girl properly!"
"I wouldn't dare. It's only right that I carry it."
The box was quite heavy though, and he didn't know what was inside.
Catherine lifted it slightly and raised an eyebrow. "A painting by my teacher and a stone carved by Oscar."
This was quite a substantial gift, showing that Dominic valued Owen highly.
Catherine placed her hand on Alexander's arm and followed Dominic into the banquet hall.
As soon as the three entered the banquet hall, they attracted everyone's attention!
Dominic walked in front with his hands behind his back, looking detached from worldly desires, yet no one dared to underestimate him.
This was a walking industry benchmark in the oil painting world!
Behind Dominic followed a perfect couple. Catherine in her evening gown had a slender waist and long legs, with eyes that sparkled like rippling water - beautiful as someone from a painting.
Catherine wore an exquisite bracelet on her hand, which rested on the arm of the tall and elegant Alexander. Alexander wore gold-rimmed glasses, appearing refined and gentle, but his eyes held a cold gleam that made people's hearts tremble!
A woman in a form-fitting gown gracefully approached them, smiling warmly. "Why did Mr. Howard and Ms. Windsor come in person? Dominic, my father is waiting for you. Please follow me."
Dominic waved his hand. "You two go enjoy yourselves. I'll go ahead."
Catherine's gaze fell on the woman leading the way, and she frowned slightly, feeling like she had seen this face somewhere before!
She had always had a photographic memory for everything - this definitely wasn't a mistake!
