Chapter 146 Drive Over and Kill Him
Jared parked the car outside the gallery. "Boss, I've signed you up for driving school. Everything's taken care of. You just need to find time to take the test."
After all, Imperia City was different from when they were abroad. It would be more convenient to drive herself.
Catherine's skills were good enough. There was no need to waste time at driving school. She could just take all the tests in one day.
"Next time if you're driving and run into an idiot like that, just hit him with your car!"
Catherine said coolly, "If it were somewhere else, he'd already be dead."
It was only because of the ongoing cooperation between the Hughes family and the Windsor family that Michael could keep his life.
If Michael had run into Catherine at the border, what would greet him would be bullets and fists from Faceless Ones.
Those things don't have eyes!
Catherine walked into the gallery and was drawn to several people making a loud commotion ahead.
Elijah was holding a thick stack of drafts, looking at the timid intern in front of him.
"I told you to revise this draft. It's been so long, why haven't you fixed it yet?"
"I'm sorry, but I've already revised it six times. I didn't even sleep last night."
Elijah slammed the drawings down in front of the intern and said angrily, "If you didn't sleep, that's because you're inefficient. I told you how to revise it, and you still can't do it right. Are you blaming me?"
"You mean the first version? When I did it that way at the beginning, you said it wasn't good."
"You dare talk back? It's your own revisions that aren't good. Do you still want this month's internship pay or not?"
The intern's eyes were full of tears, feeling extremely wronged, with dark circles under her eyes.
She crouched down, tears falling as she lowered her head.
Catherine walked forward and picked up the drawings in front of the intern. "What needs to be revised so many times?"
As soon as they saw her, the gallery employees immediately bowed. "Good morning, Ms. Windsor."
Elijah immediately put on a flattering smile.
"Ms. Windsor, you're here. This is just a small matter. These interns don't work all day and can't even do such simple things right. You don't need to worry about it."
Catherine looked at the intern in front of her. "Do you have a pen?"
"Yes, yes!"
The intern didn't even have time to wipe away her tears before taking out a pen from her pocket and handing it to Catherine.
Catherine worked quickly, writing and drawing on the paper, circling all the places the intern hadn't noticed.
"Look, the perspective data here is wrong. You need to subtract some from the original."
"Change the main color scheme of the exhibition hall at this position to highlight the painting itself."
"The data in this section should be like this."
The intern was stunned!
In just a few minutes, how did Catherine manage to spot all the problems?
Many issues that Elijah hadn't noticed, only feeling something was off but unable to say what, Catherine found in no time!
"You didn't notice these places?"
Catherine's somewhat sharp gaze fell on Elijah's face, and he immediately broke out in a cold sweat.
"Ms. Windsor, I'm not a professional exhibition designer."
"Since you're not a professional, why not leave these things to more professional people? Using your unprofessional eye to guide professional work, don't you think that's irresponsible?"
Elijah lowered his head, unable to tell if he felt ashamed or embarrassed. "I know I was wrong."
Catherine handed the revised work to the intern, her warm hand touching the girl's face, gently wiping away her tears.
"Do you understand now?"
"I understand!"
The intern was almost dazed. Catherine actually wiped her tears herself and spoke to her so gently.
"What's your name?"
"Odette Gray! I'm a recent graduate who just started interning at the gallery."
Catherine nodded. "I'll remember that. You have real talent in exhibition design. If you run into problems in the future, come directly to me."
"Can I really? You're so busy!"
"Yes."
Odette looked at Catherine with practically glowing eyes. She'd been working overtime at high intensity recently, revising drafts after work, changing every detail countless times, yet Elijah still wasn't satisfied and said he'd fail her internship.
But Catherine was so gentle, not only helping her revise the draft but also wiping her tears. She was really too kind!
Catherine looked at Odette and said coolly, "You don't need to work today. Go home and rest. You can't do better work when you're not in good spirits. You'll still get paid."
"Is that really okay?"
"Of course."
Catherine glanced at Elijah, who seemed about to speak, her expression cold. "Elijah, come to my office."
"Okay, okay, Ms. Windsor. Letting her go home to rest really isn't proper procedure. We could count it as a day off instead."
"In this gallery, I should still have the final say, right? I'm telling Odette to go home and rest. Don't you understand?"
Elijah wiped the cold sweat from his face. "You have the final say. Of course you do."
Odette watched Catherine leave with Elijah, tears in her eyes. Even though Catherine was a few years younger than her, how could she be so capable and so excellent and gentle?
Closing the office door, Catherine looked up at Elijah.
"I don't want to see any exploitation of employees or anyone taking out their personal stress. If you have emotions about your work, get them under control before coming to work. If you're not professional enough, go learn. Leave professional matters to professional people."
Elijah stammered a bit.
Go learn? What a waste of time! If he hired more people to manage the gallery, his authority would be diluted, and he'd get fewer benefits.
He'd finally pushed Jennifer out. He wasn't about to let someone else share his management power!
Besides, they were just drafts. Look at them a few more times and you'd know what the problems were. Those interns just weren't patient enough. What's wrong with making them revise more?
Catherine's gaze was icy and merciless.
"Elijah, do you think you can do everything well?"
Elijah gritted his teeth. "I can. I'm just trying to save costs for our gallery. I used to handle these things before, and I can definitely do well in the future. Trust me."
Catherine snorted coldly, stood up from her chair, and walked out of the office.
Elijah didn't understand and quickly followed Catherine.
"Ms. Windsor, isn't this the exhibition hall we set up last month?"
"I remember you were in charge of this exhibition hall. Jennifer didn't get involved."
Elijah felt somewhat proud, puffing out his chest. "Yes, it was me. This exhibition hall did pretty well, and the industry reviews were good too!"
If Catherine looked carefully at this exhibition hall, she'd know he had talent too. After Jennifer left, those responsibilities should go to him, so more of the gallery's authority would return to his hands.
Catherine looked at the exhibition hall before her and signaled everyone to leave.
She placed her hand on one of the load-bearing columns, applied force with her arm, and the entire exhibition hall rapidly collapsed before their eyes!
Elijah was nearly scared to death!
"What's happening?"
Catherine withdrew her hand, dusting off her hands, her expression indifferent.
"Elijah, this is what you call a good exhibition hall? It collapsed with one touch!"
