Chapter 117 She Can Also Have a Home
The heat from his body was intense, his breathing gradually becoming rapid, warm breath falling on Catherine's neck.
"Let go, or I don't mind beating you up!"
Alexander felt somewhat helpless and chuckled softly, "I know you want to spar with me, but now's really not the right moment."
Not the right moment?
She was completely trapped in his embrace, unable to move at all, and he had the nerve to talk about the wrong moment?
If it weren't for the fact that the house was still unstable even after repairs, Catherine's fist would have already landed on him!
Alexander's hands held her slender waist, and with a slight effort of his arms, he lifted her up and placed her on the bed.
The room had no lights on. Catherine's bed was quite high, and Alexander sat on the floor bedding, tilting his head slightly to look up at her.
His eyes seemed to carry the boundless moonlight, merging with the bright moon outside the window, transforming into endless tender affection.
"Just sleep like this. Since your grandma's room is hers, let's not disturb her, okay?"
He was here only because of her!
Since he put it that way, Catherine had no choice but to lie back down.
The moonlight outside was thick and bright. She slept dreamlessly through the night.
Catherine looked at Alexander still sleeping beside her, quietly got up, and walked to the courtyard to answer her phone.
"Boss, George has been following that scarred man and they're almost out of the country. Should we keep following?"
"Yes, don't let anything happen to him."
"We're investigating the address Ethan gave us. Something's off."
Catherine frowned, "What's off?"
"Based on this imprisonment timeline, the person we're looking for might be Ethan's other brother."
The fake Ethan who made a deal with Eli and was caught at The Velvet Lounge?
"Check all the surveillance from that night. I need more information on that person. Keep me updated on any developments."
Jared agreed and hung up.
Catherine stood in the courtyard. The mountain breeze in the early morning was gentle and clear, so she simply started her workout routine.
After finishing her exercises, she let out a long breath.
"You do calisthenics too? My grandfather likes them as well. You two can do them together in the future."
Catherine turned around and met Alexander's gaze.
She didn't know when he had woken up, but he had been leaning on her bedroom window watching her every move.
Cloudscape Villa was just an old house in a mountain village, not as tall as The Windsor Mansion. Even looking down from the second floor, everything seemed close at hand.
Alexander flipped down directly from the window, his movements smooth and graceful, quite a sight to see.
He came to Catherine's side and lowered his head, touching his forehead to hers.
"Good morning, my fiancée."
"Can you use a different way to address me?"
In just one night, probably the entire village knew she had brought back a fiancé.
"Too many people call you Catherine. If I call you that too, you won't remember me."
Alexander smiled and straightened up.
"People who aren't loved always like to be different. Please understand my anxiety."
He had said this much—if Catherine said anything more to refuse, she would seem unreasonable.
She turned her head away and met Neil's head poking in from the doorway. "Neil, morning."
Neil came in from outside carrying breakfast and placed it on the small stone table in the courtyard.
"You're up so early! That's good."
Up so early—did that mean nothing happened last night?!
Neil suddenly felt he had really let Elodie down. Last night he had confidently told Elodie he would definitely make this happen.
Could it be that Alexander wasn't up to it?
With this thought, Neil's look at Alexander became somewhat strange.
"Boss, are you and Alexander leaving today?"
"Yes, I need to go back to Imperia City to pick up my grandfather from the hospital."
Neil nodded. "That's good. Alexander can also get checked out at the hospital while he's there—oh no, I don't mean anything by that. It's just that the Brown family heard you were back and are insisting on coming to see you."
The Brown family all lived in the city, quite a distance from the small mountain village.
"What do they want with me?"
"It's that Brent again. I heard he lost a lot of money gambling recently. Who knows what scheme he's cooking up now."
When it came to the Brown family, Neil had nothing good to say.
"That year, they were the ones who did something terrible—they took you away and wouldn't let your grandmother go out to look for you. She nearly cried herself blind!"
Neil got angry just talking about the past.
Back then, the Brown family had been single-mindedly hoping something would happen to Catherine so Celeste would have a chance to have a second child.
They came up with countless wicked schemes for that!
Catherine took small bites of the breakfast Neil made, saying nothing.
If the Brown family hadn't stolen her away that year and secretly dumped her across the border, she wouldn't have been found by the people from Galactic Aurora Collective!
All the darkness she had experienced began from that moment.
The day she came back, Elodie didn't ask anything, just held her hand and cried.
Even so, Oliver never cared, even though she was still considered their child at that time.
From that moment on, she thought she had no family.
When Elodie passed away, her home completely fell apart.
The person who loved her most in the world was gone!
Now the Windsor family also made her feel warmth. So even someone like her could have a family after all.
Neil was still indignant.
"Those people are really bad. Last time they even tried to sell Cloudscape Villa, without considering what this house has to do with them!"
"This house?"
"Exactly! The Brown family heard the house was bought by someone. They didn't know it was bought by your family, and they were still thinking about getting a share of the money from selling the house. Brent happens to owe three million dollars in gambling debts."
Catherine understood. The Brown family was talking about selling Cloudscape Villa, but they really just wanted to come and cause trouble.
"The money is all in Oliver's hands. What does it have to do with me?"
Neil was really angry. "Of course they want you to bring three million dollars when you marry into their family! Everyone can see what the Brown family is thinking!"
So that was it.
Catherine hadn't dealt with the Brown family in years and really didn't know what was going on in their heads.
"I got it. Don't worry about this. We'll leave after breakfast. Just lock up the courtyard."
She noticed surveillance equipment installed by the Windsor family in some inconspicuous corners of the courtyard.
If the Brown family tried to force their way in, they wouldn't have a good outcome.
"Okay."
After breakfast, Alexander opened the car door for Catherine to get in, then said a few words to Neil.
After he got in the car, Catherine looked at him sideways. "What did you say to him?"
"I wanted a photo of your grandmother, so she can watch at our wedding in the future too."
Catherine was a bit surprised.
He had even considered such details. She had never imagined her own wedding, but if she were to get married, she would definitely want Elodie to be able to watch.
After a series of operations, the sports car transformed into a helicopter. The huge sound of the propellers swept up fallen leaves and osmanthus flowers from the ground, leaving Cloudscape Villa behind, now just a shadow.
Catherine said softly in her heart, "Grandma, I'll come back to see you next time."
Alexander seemed to know what she was thinking and smiled lightly.
"We'll come back again. I'll come with you."
