Chapter 93 He Wants to Hold His Great-Grandson
These comics are Marcus's treasures!
He had such a hard time getting Andrew to buy them for him, and now he's right at the most exciting part!
Marcus has always had a serious face and rarely smiles, but now for a few comics, he's practically clinging to Catherine's arm and begging.
Ever since Gavin found out that all the prescriptions were written by Catherine, he hasn't said a word. Every time he comes, he just signs off on Catherine's prescriptions as a formality.
On the surface, Gavin is still the attending physician, but in reality, the power to decide whether Marcus can be discharged is now in Catherine's hands!
"Catherine, can't you just leave me one book? I'm at the exciting part, I'm about to find out the most crucial plot point!"
Seeing that Marcus was also being controlled, Felix laughed with pure delight.
"Just leave me one book!"
Catherine picked up the comic and flipped through it casually.
"Why is it in Novian?"
Marcus said with a smile, "The comic is called Jacob, by a Novian artist. I specifically learned Novian just to read this comic! It was really hard work!"
Jacob?
She hadn't heard of this comic artist before.
Catherine flipped through the comic in her hand. The comic itself had beautiful artwork with bold and vibrant colors, a coloring method rarely used by domestic comic artists.
Catherine frowned slightly, looking at the last image.
The image showed an orphanage with a heart-shaped logo and a hospital next to it, with the hospital clearly labeled:
Vinehill Hospital!
How could the comic Marcus was reading happen to be related to Vinehill Hospital?
Catherine calmly collected the comics in her hand, meeting Marcus's tearful eyes.
"Grandpa, I'll take these comics for now. When you're discharged, I'll return them to you."
Marcus became dejected and lay down on the hospital bed, pretending his heart was uncomfortable.
"I feel so bad, am I about to die?"
"Catherine, if I die like this, remember to tell me how the story continues."
Catherine fell silent.
Where was that dignified and imposing Marcus? He'd become a rogue over a few comics?
If people outside knew about this, they'd probably be shocked.
Catherine had no choice but to return one book to Marcus.
"If I find out you stayed up late tonight when I come tomorrow, I'll take this one too."
"Okay, okay!"
Marcus jumped up, grabbed the comic from Catherine's hand, and rushed back to his room, afraid that Catherine would snatch away the last one too.
Halfway out, he remembered he still had something important to do. He ran back, pulled Catherine over, and took several selfies with her.
"Let's see if Samuel still dares to show off in front of me. Who says I don't have photos together?"
Marcus showed off to everyone, set it as his social media profile picture, and walked away hugging his comic.
Catherine watched his retreating figure, feeling both helpless and speechless. It seemed Marcus was in pretty good shape - at least he still had the energy to jump around.
Felix looked down on Marcus's behavior with disdain.
"Catherine, I think your grandpa has something wrong with his brain. After you and Alexander get married, just live with me. Don't live with your grandpa, or he'll be a bad influence on my great-grandchild."
Great-grandchild...
Her marriage to Alexander wasn't even certain yet, and Felix was already happily imagining the future.
Seeing Felix so happy, Catherine didn't have the heart to burst his bubble.
"I'll come see you again tomorrow."
"Okay, don't work too hard."
Felix held Catherine's hand and quietly pulled out a small box from under the hospital bed. When Alexander wasn't paying attention, he shoved it into Catherine's hand.
When Alexander looked over, Felix acted as if nothing had happened and casually pulled Catherine aside to whisper.
"Catherine, I know you're working hard on my medicine. I've lived this long already - taking a little more or less medicine is all the same. Don't tire yourself out, listen to me."
He patted Catherine's hand, tucked the small box further into her sleeve, and winked mischievously.
"I'm not tired. You rest first, I'll go now."
"Okay, Alexander, see Catherine out. You should leave too - you're an eyesore just standing there."
Felix had no patience when it came to Alexander. He pushed him out in no time, muttering as he did so.
"Clueless brat, what's the point of being an eyesore here? Hurry up and go with Catherine. When she goes shopping, you pay. When she goes out, you drive. When she eats, you serve her. Do you even know how to pursue a woman?"
Felix basically criticized Alexander as completely useless.
Catherine looked at Alexander's extremely helpless face and let out a soft laugh.
Seeing her smile, the frustration in Alexander's heart instantly dissipated.
Walking out of the hospital, Catherine handed Alexander a comic.
The entire comic was in Novian. As the head of the Howard Group, Alexander had mastered multiple foreign languages. He read through it quickly without any difficulty.
"Vinehill Hospital? You suspect the content of this comic is related to Vinehill Hospital?"
"Probably. I'm not sure, but to have both Vinehill Hospital and Angel's Haven Orphanage appear together, this comic artist probably isn't that simple."
Alexander nodded in understanding. "I'll investigate it thoroughly. Leave it to me."
"Let's divide the work. Faceless Ones has an operating area within Novia, Shadow Syndicate doesn't."
She remembered that last year, Faceless Ones gained control of the Novian operating area in several missions, and Shadow Syndicate withdrew from that area at that time.
Alexander chuckled softly, his magnetic voice resonating from his chest, particularly sexy.
"If you hadn't mentioned it, I would have almost forgotten that last year your organization drove my people out of the Novian operating area. It's fine - Shadow Syndicate doesn't have an operating area, but the Howard Group does."
"Are you settling scores with me?"
Seeing her slightly furrowed brow, Alexander's face was full of tender smiles.
Was she angry?
"I wouldn't dare. Whether it's Shadow Syndicate or the Howard Group, you call the shots. Including me - you call the shots too."
Alexander took a step closer to Catherine, leaning down slightly toward her, closing the distance between them.
"So can you tell me what my grandpa just gave you?"
He had seen all of Felix's sneaky movements.
It's just that seeing Felix rarely like someone this much, whatever Felix would secretly give Catherine must be something Felix considered precious, so Alexander didn't stop him.
Catherine took out the small box, only then discovering it had a small lock fastening it.
When Alexander saw the box, his eyes softened too.
Alexander was just about to say it was a box he played with as a child, that the key was at his house, and that it required a specific method to open, when he saw Catherine remove the hairpin from her head and very easily opened the intricately crafted box!
