Chapter 81 Stealthily Snatching Back a Good Burial Ground
Oliver felt guilty just thinking about it.
How did those people know that he had bribed business judges, that his gifts to officials had been thrown back at him, and that he had set fire to a rival company to get their business secrets...
And they even knew about him stealing the rival company's menu and serving mushroom soup at their dinner party!
The more Oliver thought about it, the more scared he became. Cold sweat broke out on his back, and with all his wounds, the sweat trickling down nearly killed him with pain.
"Where's the doctor! Clara, where on earth did you get that money? I was planning to call the Johnson family to discuss your marriage!"
Marriage!
Clara got excited when she heard that.
If Oliver thought the money came from the Johnson family, he would definitely talk to them right away about her marrying Lucas.
As for that five million dollars, someone like Esme wasn't short of money anyway. Worst case, she could just ask the Johnson family for it after marrying Lucas.
"Don't worry about that, I'll figure it out. I ran into Richard from the Windsor family. As soon as he heard Catherine's name, he kicked me out. It looks like the Windsor family really hates Catherine."
Oliver nodded with satisfaction.
Clara was a hundred times better than Catherine! Good thing they cut ties with her, or who knows how much Catherine would have dragged down the Smith family!
"Last time I saw Catherine chatting with the bosses of Harmony Enterprises and Nexus Media. They seemed to know each other."
Oliver perked up.
Catherine actually knew the bosses of Harmony Enterprises and Nexus Media?
Maybe those bosses had relatives in Bright Heal Hospital and hired Catherine as a caregiver?
Catherine could only do that kind of servant work anyway. She looked so poor - who knows how poor her birth family must be.
"Don't worry about her. She's chosen to fall low, and she has nothing to do with our family! Celeste, I sold the old house in Osflow!"
Celeste sat up suddenly, looking at Oliver nervously.
"Sold it? What about Grandma's grave..."
"Sold that too! I don't know what kind of fool insisted on buying it all together, even wanted to buy the burial plot. So weird!"
Oliver was happy thinking about the fool who bought the old house and Elodie's grave. Clearly someone who didn't know what they were doing. He and Celeste hadn't spent any money on that house or Elodie's burial plot - they just randomly picked a piece of land.
Now they'd sold it for three million dollars. Oliver was thrilled.
Celeste's vision went dark and she nearly fainted!
"Oliver, why did you sell the burial plot too? That plot has a really good location!"
"What? It's just a burial plot. What's the big deal?"
Celeste couldn't worry about anything else now. Her parents had picked out that burial plot, planning to take Elodie out and lie there themselves.
Who knew Oliver would sell Elodie's burial plot!
"Oliver! Maybe they came specifically for that burial plot. I heard that grave's location can bring peace and wealth to descendants, enough money to last a lifetime!"
"What? Really? I wondered why that person was willing to pay three million dollars for an old house. So they were after the burial plot. No way, I need to see if I can buy it back."
Oliver endured the pain and pulled out his phone to call the person who had bought the old house.
In the car, Charles's assistant picked up the phone and handed it to him.
"Mr. Windsor, it's Oliver calling."
Charles glanced at the caller ID, then looked at Catherine beside him.
Catherine nodded slightly, signaling him to answer.
"Hello? Is this Martin, who bought our house last time? Here's the thing - you bought our old house and a burial plot together last time. I just realized that burial plot is my mother's grave. That's my own mom!"
"I've been feeling uneasy these past few days, really upset about it. After all, it's just a burial plot, no use to you. Can you give it back to me?"
Charles sneered.
"You want me to give it back for free? I paid money for that land! The contract's already signed. If you want it, buy it back."
"What's your price?"
"Ten million dollars."
Oliver didn't even care about his wounds - he jumped up with a scream!
"That's extortion! You only paid three million dollars for our old house and my mother's grave. Why should I pay ten million to buy it back?"
"Because that burial plot and house are mine now."
Thinking about how that plot could keep the Smith family wealthy for life, Oliver felt so reluctant to give it up.
"Martin, that's my mother's grave. What are you planning to do with it?"
"That burial plot has a great location. Of course I'm using it to bury my elders."
Oliver had been thinking that as long as they didn't disturb Elodie in the grave, it would still bring wealth to the Smith family.
But Martin actually said he was going to bury his own family there - wouldn't that bring blessings to Martin's descendants instead?
"No way! That's my mother's grave. You can't treat her like this!"
"I already dug up your mother and buried her in some random hole. If there's nothing else, I'm hanging up."
Oliver was stunned!
What did he mean by digging a random hole and burying her?
Elodie was his mother, not Martin's. What right did Martin have to dig her up?
"Martin, how could you treat my mom like this? You've gone too far!"
Charles frowned impatiently. "If you want your mother's coffin, go dig it up yourself. That burial plot is mine now. If you want it, bring money. Stop wasting my time."
He hung up and tossed the phone to his assistant.
"Block his calls from now on, unless he wants to pay to buy back that burial plot."
"Yes, sir."
Oliver listened to the busy signal, furious!
"How can he be like this? Just taking over our family's burial plot! That's our family's property!"
Celeste covered her swollen, beaten face and gasped.
Those people had specifically targeted her face!
"Oliver, why don't we secretly find a time to bury Elodie back there? That way we don't have to spend money, and the plot will be ours."
Oliver thought about it - that made sense!
"But we don't have time to go back recently."
"Let my parents go. It's for the good of the family - they'll definitely agree."
The key was, they could secretly bury the Brown family ancestors' ashes there, and that plot would bring blessings to the Brown family forever.
When Oliver heard he didn't even have to do it himself, he was touched and happy.
"Thank your parents for me. When the Smith family prospers, they'll get their share of the benefits!"
"What are you saying? We're all family."
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Charles looked at Catherine. "Catherine, do you think Oliver will go look for your grandmother's coffin?"
"No, but they'll definitely sneak back and bury whatever they want to bury there."
Elodie's coffin had already been moved by people Charles hired. She was now resting peacefully in the Smith family's old house, now renamed Cloudscape Villa, next to the maple tree Catherine had bought for her.
Oliver didn't care where Elodie's coffin was at all. He was probably just after the burial plot's good location.
Since they wouldn't look for where Elodie was buried, whoever they wanted to secretly bury definitely wasn't Elodie.
"I've got people watching around the burial site. Don't worry."
Looking at Charles's warm, handsome smile, Catherine felt warmth in her heart too.
"Charles, did you arrange something else at that burial site?"
Charles smiled mysteriously and patted Catherine's head.
"You'll find out soon enough. Come on, we're at the music store."
