Chapter 79: Her Daughter Is Simply Too Perfect!
From the moment Samuel laid eyes on Catherine, he knew exactly how he was going to write his new work!
Samuel felt that his creative spirit, dormant for years, had been awakened, and the writer's block that had plagued him suddenly vanished!
Aurora was also surprised.
"Dad, how many years has it been since you wrote a book? After winning that major literary award, didn't you say you were going to take a break?"
Samuel was full of energy, showing no signs of discomfort at all.
"After seeing Catherine, I feel like I could write ten more books! Catherine, I have a music store that's doing pretty well. I'm giving it to you. From now on, you can drop by when you have time, and pick out a violin you like while you're at it. We'll start creating next week!"
Aurora quickly stopped Samuel.
"Dad, your music store has so much going on. Won't Catherine get tired? If you care about Catherine, just find her a violin directly."
Samuel's music store wasn't just a music store—it was also an art exhibition center. Many master violins were displayed there, and the people who frequented it were all leading figures in the violin world.
"Girls should have their own careers too. Catherine, the music store is yours from now on. All the money it makes each year is yours. Oh, and the art gallery next door—that's yours too. If you get tired, just have Charles help out. You keep the money, he does the work."
Samuel didn't think there was anything wrong with this arrangement at all.
He had given Catherine several businesses in one breath, and it looked like he was ready to give more.
Charles thought Samuel's arrangement made sense.
"Okay, I'll help Catherine manage them. All the profits go to Catherine, and if there are any losses, I'll cover them."
Samuel smiled with satisfaction. "Good, you understand."
Charles already had his hands full with work. It was hard enough for him to find time to have a meal with the family. He spent every car ride reviewing company financial reports. If he had to manage all these additional companies, he'd probably be exhausted.
Catherine quickly spoke up. "I'll manage them myself. They're all Grandpa's hard work. I'll learn from Charles."
Samuel nodded. "That works too. They're all small companies anyway. You can play around with them. Even if they go under by accident, it's fine."
From the sound of it, Samuel was completely raising Catherine in the direction of a spoiled rich kid.
Catherine knew Samuel felt he owed her something, and her heart warmed.
Love means always feeling indebted. The Windsor family and the Martinez family felt they owed her because they loved her!
Grace looked at Catherine with affection, her gray hair not diminishing her elegance but adding a sense of grace and composure.
"Catherine, it's almost September. Have you thought about what university to attend? If you haven't decided, would you like to study biology with me?"
Catherine took out the admission letter from her bag and handed it to Grace.
"I'm planning to go to Imperial University to study jewelry design."
She had decided on the school and major a while ago, partly because Imperial University was the closest university to the Windsor family, and partly because of a promise she made to Elodie when she was little—that she would definitely design the best jewelry in the world.
When she was young, in that small courtyard under the starry sky, Elodie held her and taught her to recognize the stars.
"Catherine will become a shining star too."
"Then I'll study jewelry design and design the most beautiful jewelry for you!"
Elodie smiled so wide, hugging Catherine and kissing her several times. The courtyard was filled with their laughter.
Grace looked at Catherine's admission letter, also smiling from ear to ear.
"Catherine is so amazing! How are you so smart? You're truly our family's child!"
Aurora also came over, holding Catherine's admission letter, and immediately hugged Catherine and kissed her several times!
Catherine was just too perfect!
Beautiful, good-tempered, and even in a terrible place like the Smith family, her academic performance was this good. Such a perfect daughter—she was truly Aurora's treasure!
"Catherine, why didn't you tell us?"
Catherine was a bit speechless.
The Windsor family children, starting with Charles and going down to Juniper, basically all got into university through recommendations. Not to mention Juniper was a genius. Her admission letter was nothing special in the Windsor family.
"I received it a few days ago."
Bethany was so excited she burst into tears.
"The Windsor family happens to have several jewelry companies too. They're all yours! Have Charles help manage them for now, and after you graduate, you can go straight to work at the company!"
Aurora strongly agreed.
"Girls should have their own careers. Catherine, it's not that Mom and Dad don't want to support you, but look at me—I stayed at home doing nothing, and that's why I got bullied."
Seeing Aurora bring this up again, Bethany panicked.
"Aurora, why don't we just go abroad to travel after Catherine starts school! We'll leave all the stuff at home for Charles to handle!"
"You have a point. After we send Catherine to school, let's find a place to travel. Catherine can join us during winter break too. Didn't we buy an island last time? We should buy one for Catherine too!"
Charles fell silent.
So you're all going off to have fun and leaving all the family matters to him?
He had no way to deal with Lila's unreasonable tantrums and troublemaking!
Catherine remembered Marcus's instructions and glanced at Charles, who was at a loss for words.
"Charles, Marcus said you don't need to worry too much."
Charles's eyes lit up!
When it came to Lila, none of them had much feeling left for her. They'd watched her bully Aurora since childhood, and she wasn't even good to them—she wasn't even as good as Esme.
When they ate together as kids, only Esme had meat in her bowl. Charles and his brothers couldn't even get eggs!
When Samuel saw this, he thought the Windsor family was going bankrupt and took the kids away. Lila even mocked them, saying the Martinez family looked down on the Windsor family.
If it weren't for the fact that Lila was an elder, Charles, George, Richard, and Philip wouldn't want to deal with her at all!
Now that Marcus had spoken, he didn't have to worry about anything else!
"Okay, I understand."
Samuel looked at Catherine's admission letter with delight, his eyes crinkling into crescents.
"Catherine, can I keep this? I want to frame it and put it in my study!"
Samuel's study was filled with trophies from various literary awards, and he wanted to put her worthless admission letter there with them? Catherine felt embarrassed.
But everyone else thought it made perfect sense.
Grace looked at Catherine expectantly. "Catherine, make me a copy. I want to hang it in my lab. And let's take a family photo in a bit—I want to carry my Catherine with me all the time!"
"But George, Richard, and Juniper aren't home."
Grace waved her hand dismissively. "I have tons of their photos already. We take them every year—I have a whole bunch! I just want yours!"
Grace and Samuel were getting older. Although they were still active in creative work and research, what they cared about most was their granddaughter Catherine.
It was such a shame they couldn't see what Catherine looked like as a child. That damn Smith family didn't even take many photos of her!
Meanwhile, that Clara had countless photos taken.
Now looking at Catherine, they wanted to treasure her in the palm of their hands. Everything about her was wonderful.
"Okay, I'll take photos with you all in a bit."
"Great! Let's go change clothes right now!"
