Chapter 50 This Is a Laboratory, Not a Daycare!
Marcus snorted coldly.
"Where did you get the money to buy such expensive stuff? And who did you buy it from?"
Esme stammered, "Just some herbal medicine merchants who sold it to me cheap. Grandma's health improved a lot after taking the Vitality Pills, so I bought some for Mr. Howard! It cost me a lot of my allowance! I really wanted Mr. Howard to get better. How could there be anything wrong with the Vitality Pills?"
"The Howard family's lawyers will come find you. Tell them everything, and hand over all the contact information for those herbal merchants. Otherwise, even the Windsor family won't be able to protect you!"
Esme quickly agreed!
How could there be anything wrong with the Vitality Pills!
Marcus hung up the phone and frowned. "With Esme's brain, she couldn't have done all this herself. I'll leave the rest to you guys. Catherine, don't worry. No matter what you find out, I'm on your side."
"Okay."
Walking out of the hospital, Catherine frowned at her hand still holding Alexander's.
"Can you let go?"
Holding hands earlier was to reassure Marcus and Felix, but why was he still holding on?
Alexander's face showed a smile.
"Last time I let go of your hand, I regretted it. But back then I didn't know you were my fiancée, so I didn't dare be too forward. If I'd known, I wouldn't have let go."
Catherine understood.
He was talking about when they ran into Oliver?
"Let go."
"No."
Catherine frowned slightly. "Don't make me hit you."
"If you're in the mood to spar with me at the hospital entrance, I'd be happy to oblige. But your grandfather and my grandfather are still watching."
"Besides, I'd prefer to find a more suitable place to spar, where you can spar however you want."
Catherine felt like Alexander's words had a double meaning.
Catherine looked back and sure enough, Marcus and Felix had the window open despite the strong wind, leaning out with their heads together, smiling lovingly.
If they started fighting at the hospital entrance now, Marcus and Felix would probably be scared into the ICU.
Alexander personally opened the car door for her, gentlemanly and polite. "Where would you like to go? I'll take you."
Catherine thought for a moment. "To George's lab. I want to borrow his lab equipment."
George's lab had the world's most advanced experimental equipment, capable of getting results in the shortest time with 98.9% accuracy.
"Don't you have your own lab?"
Phantom Doctor 'Moon' certainly had her own lab. The medicine she gave Marcus was all developed by herself!
"Yes, but my lab equipment isn't as good as George's. My accuracy is 98.5%."
She hadn't had time to upgrade her equipment yet, and a full set of lab equipment was quite expensive. The approval process was somewhat troublesome.
"I'll get you a set. Give me an address and I'll have it delivered to your lab. If you don't want me to know where your lab is, you can have your people pick it up from the Howard Group."
Catherine was stunned.
Her lab required very high-precision equipment. A full set was extremely expensive. He'd just give it to her like that?
"Consider it your consultation fee, plus the cost of future medications for my grandfather. It's not expensive."
"Moon has some international caregivers available—trustworthy, but a bit pricey."
Price wasn't an issue. The Howard family had plenty of money.
"Thank you, Catherine. I'm so grateful for your help! Otherwise I wouldn't know how to face my grandfather!"
"It's nothing. I'll send you the address. Just take me to George's today."
Alexander's eyes showed a hint of regret!
The Howard Group really wasn't as strong as the Windsor family in the medical field. Otherwise she wouldn't need to go to George for a medical lab!
Annie was driving, visibly excited!
Catherine said she'd send Alexander the address, which meant she didn't mind him knowing where her lab was! What did that mean? It meant Alexander would have plenty of chances to pick up Catherine from work in the future, and they could even go out for romantic candlelit dinners when they had time.
She'd never have to work overtime again!
George received Catherine's call and had been waiting at the lab entrance early.
"Thanks for bringing Catherine over, Mr. Howard. Next time just call me and I'll pick her up."
Alexander smiled, refined and elegant. "Taking my fiancée anywhere is what I should do. You don't need to be polite. I'll come pick up Catherine for dinner later. George, want to join us?"
George looked at Alexander with a complicated expression.
"Sure, let's go together."
Catherine was speechless.
These two were nearly fifty years old combined. What were they competing about?
"George, let's go in."
"Okay."
Alexander watched them disappear at the lab entrance before looking away. "Annie, investigate all of Esme's connections. I want to know where every single Vitality Pill in her possession came from."
"Yes, Mr. Windsor. Do you think Esme didn't know about this?"
Alexander laughed coldly, his thin lips curving into a mocking arc.
"She's an idiot, but that doesn't mean whoever's behind her is also an idiot. Vitality Pills have always been hard to come by. For Esme to have so many can only mean she didn't know what they really were!"
With Esme's intelligence, she probably thought the Vitality Pills had some other beneficial effect, which is why she gave them to the elderly!
Annie knew how serious this matter was. Although Felix didn't say anything blaming in the hospital room, Alexander himself felt quite guilty!
"Yes!"
Meanwhile, in George's lab.
"Catherine, I know about everything you mentioned. I've prepared all the lab equipment. But I have surgery in a bit, so you'll need to wait for me."
As a genius doctor, George had tons of people lining up to see him every day, most of them patients even the Windsor family couldn't refuse.
Catherine knew George was busy and said obediently, "I understand, George. Can I use the lab equipment?"
George smiled gently, stroking her soft hair with satisfaction.
"Of course you can. Use whatever equipment interests you! If you break anything, I'll just buy new ones!"
His tone was exactly like a parent indulging their child.
"I mean I can analyze the Vitality Pills data. You go do your work. Just give me the lab equipment, you don't need to worry about anything else."
George was delighted and didn't doubt Catherine's claim that she could use the equipment at all.
"Okay, I'll give you access. Take my card and do whatever you need. The password for all the lab equipment is your birthday."
"Okay, go ahead."
George gave his assistant a few instructions, asking her to stay with Catherine the whole time in case any problems came up while he was in surgery.
"Catherine, I'm George's assistant Lily. Please follow me."
Catherine nodded and followed Lily into the lab George had prepared.
A group of busy doctors looked up at Catherine as she entered, examining her with some confusion about how this girl who looked like a high school student got into the lab.
After all, their lab wasn't a place just anyone could enter.
"Lily, what's going on? This isn't a daycare. How can we have kids coming in to visit!"
Lily quickly gave them a look. "This is George's sister. Watch yourselves!"
"Even if she's George's sister, she shouldn't be in the lab. This is all experimental data. If something goes wrong, even George won't be able to fix it."
