Chapter 48 Stop Arguing!
Felix was over the moon!
The last time he heard that Esme woman say she was the one who saved him, he felt so troubled!
He thought his old eyes were playing tricks on him and he'd remembered wrong, but he clearly remembered that the person who saved him was a very beautiful young lady, completely different from that plain and ordinary Esme.
When he asked Marcus about it, Marcus wouldn't tell him the truth!
If he hadn't watched TV yesterday and seen the live broadcast, learning that Catherine was the Windsor family's daughter and had danced the first dance with Alexander, he'd still be kept in the dark.
That Marcus, so sneaky!
"Catherine, I didn't give you a gift yesterday for your birthday, but I've had a present ready for you all along!"
Felix mysteriously pulled out a box and handed it to Catherine.
Marcus said in surprise, "Felix, isn't this what your wife bought when you two got married? How can you just give it away?"
"This was agreed upon in our family from the start - every grandson's wife gets one! This last one, I thought I'd never get the chance to give it away in this lifetime. Thank goodness, God has been merciful."
Felix's eyes were full of affection. His aged hand stroked Catherine and Alexander's hands, placing them together and patting them.
"Open it and see if you like my gift!"
Catherine met Alexander's equally expectant gaze and opened the wooden box.
A jade jewelry set came into view. Every inch of the jade was perfect, without a single flaw. From Catherine's perspective, having opened countless stones, this jade set was extremely valuable!
"This is too precious, I can't accept it."
Felix immediately clutched his chest, looking like he was about to collapse and die any second!
"My heart hurts so much. Alexander, you must honor the will I wrote before."
Catherine quickly spoke up, "I'll take it, but it's too valuable. I'll keep it for now and return it to you later."
Felix instantly recovered, so energetic he could dance!
"I probably won't be around by then. Since I've given this to you, it's yours. How can there be any reason to take it back! If people found out that the Howard family took back a meeting gift, how could I show my face?"
Catherine looked at the jade in her hands, feeling a bit troubled.
Alexander said softly, "If you find it difficult, just keep it for now. This jade set is a bit old-fashioned because my grandfather always thought I wouldn't get married until I was forty or fifty, and by then my wife would be just the right age to wear this jade."
Catherine glanced at him. She had wanted to ask him to take it back, but unexpectedly fell into his smiling eyes. His deep gaze contained emotions Catherine couldn't understand!
"You're more suited to the necklace I gave you yesterday. Why aren't you wearing it today?"
"I don't like wearing jewelry."
When she went out, it was either to kill someone or carry out dangerous missions. Wearing jewelry would only get in the way!
"You can wear it when you're not on missions. It really suits you!"
At yesterday's birthday party, all the jewelry she wore was very fitting. On her, they became embellishments that made her look as dazzling as the stars!
Catherine looked at him strangely.
Whether she wore jewelry or not, what did it have to do with him?
"Mr. Howard, let me give you a checkup."
"Good, good, you do it. I trust your medical skills! Last time Gavin came, he praised how well I was recovering!"
Seeing Catherine so attentive to Felix, Marcus said sourly, "Catherine is my granddaughter, and I'm sick too. I want to be examined too!"
Catherine grabbed Marcus's wrist with one hand and Felix's with the other, examining them both simultaneously!
A flash of amazement crossed Alexander's eyes!
Legend had it that Phantom Doctor 'Moon' could examine ten people at once, determining each person's condition in the shortest time and making quick decisions to snatch people from death's grasp!
Her fingers were slender, resting on Marcus and Felix's pulses. Her picturesque brows were slightly lowered, like an oil painting.
"Grandpa, you stayed up late last night. Next time you do, I'll confiscate your comic books. Mr. Howard, you also stayed up late last night, and you've been getting angry frequently lately."
Marcus immediately covered his comic books hidden under the blanket. "No, no, no! You can't! Since you already bought them for me, you absolutely cannot take these comics away!"
"If you stay up past three o'clock, you won't be watching anything."
Marcus looked dejected, scolded by Catherine.
"Fine, you're even fiercer than your brothers. George isn't this fierce when he examines me."
The key was that George practiced clinical medicine and didn't know Catherine's pulse-reading techniques, let alone calculate so precisely what time he went to sleep!
Catherine looked at Felix. "Mr. Howard, your body doesn't have any major problems, but the poisoning last time took a toll on you. Also, have you been eating something you shouldn't have lately?"
Alexander also became nervous, looking at Felix.
"You were poisoned from taking the wrong medicine last time. How can you still be eating things carelessly?"
Felix felt wronged. "I haven't been eating anything carelessly! I just take my medicine, eat my meals, and when I have nothing to do, I come to Marcus's place to play chess and share some afternoon tea sent by the Windsor family's chef. I promise I haven't eaten anything else!"
His medicine and food had all gone through multiple checks, just to prevent what happened before from happening again!
But honestly, the Windsor family's afternoon tea was really delicious!
Catherine looked at Alexander and explained, "The afternoon tea for my grandfather is customized by me. It's fine for Mr. Howard to have some too - it's actually good for him. But his pulse is clearly off. Can I see his medication?"
"Of course, wait a moment. I'll get it for you right away!"
Alexander strode with his long legs to the next room, brought back Felix's medicine box, and handed it to Catherine.
"What's this?"
She picked up several pills from the medicine box, frowning slightly.
Felix was also puzzled.
"What is it? I don't know either. Let me think. I remember now - Esme brought them some time ago, saying they were good for the body. Health supplements, I guess? She said Marcus and Lila were both taking them, so I accepted them."
Most importantly, Felix got a headache just seeing Esme's dress that was bigger than his hospital bed, so he didn't look at the items carefully and just sent her away.
He'd forgotten about it these past few days and just took them along with his other medicine.
Alexander frowned, very concerned. "Catherine, what is this?"
Catherine said calmly, "Vitality Pills!"
