Chapter 38 You Can Also Eat Apple Peels
Imperia CityBright Heal Hospital, VIP ward.
Lila squinted her eyes, lying in bed and looking arrogantly at Catherine who pushed the door open and walked in. She snorted coldly, "What time is it now? Do you even care about me, your grandmother?"
Catherine said flatly, "It's seven in the morning. Can't you read a clock? I remember even elementary school students learn to tell time. How about I get you a digital clock tomorrow, the kind that announces the time."
The wall clock in the ward was hanging right by Lila's bed - there was no way she couldn't see it.
She must not know how to read a clock.
Lila was so angry her chest was heaving!
"Fine, fine, fine. You're trying to make me die of anger, aren't you? I asked you to come take care of me."
Catherine looked puzzled, "Grandma, your mood swings are a bit extreme. I suggest having a neurologist come check on you."
Looking at Catherine's face that was sixty to seventy percent similar to Aurora's, Lila was so angry her mouth and nose seemed twisted together!
"Now that you're here with me, don't expect any easy days. Come here, I want to eat an apple. Peel one for me."
Catherine did as told, sat down, picked up an apple from the fruit basket, and peeled it for Lila.
As soon as she finished peeling, Lila's eyebrows shot up, "What kind of apple peeling is this? You've cut away half the flesh! What am I supposed to eat?"
Catherine picked up the apple peel with her other hand, "If you don't like eating the apple flesh, you can eat the peel too, though I wouldn't recommend it."
Lila was furious!
Coming back from the countryside really makes a difference - who knows what kind of rough farm work those hands have done.
Peeling apples - how could people from high society do such things themselves?
Lila looked at Catherine with contempt in her eyes.
"I don't want it anymore. Pour me a glass of water, I want it hot."
Catherine stood up, poured Lila a glass of water and handed it over.
"Damn it, are you trying to scald me?"
Catherine took out a thermometer, "This water is 104 degrees Fahrenheit. If you think it's hot, there might be a problem with your brain nerves."
Lila was speechless.
Who carries a food thermometer with them?
"Are you cursing me to have brain problems? You're really trying to make me die of anger! Is this how your parents raised you?"
"Thank you for the compliment. I think I'm pretty good too."
"Go to the nurses' station and get my medicine for today. I get annoyed just looking at you!"
"Okay."
Catherine complied and walked out of the ward to the nurses' station to get Lila's medicine for the day.
Looking at the medicine boxes in her hand, Catherine's eyebrows furrowed slightly.
"Is all this Lila's medicine?"
The nurse quickly explained, "Yes, some of it was added at Lila's own request. We at the nurses' station just prepare it for her every day. We don't know anything else!"
Catherine frowned slightly.
Added by herself?
Patients can add medicine for themselves?
The nurse looked distressed and troubled, "She won't let us tell Gavin. She said if we tell, she'll file a complaint against us. How can we afford to offend Lila!"
Catherine had some understanding of what kind of person Lila was.
She would definitely do something like bullying people with her power. These newly graduated young nurses couldn't afford to offend Lila.
"I understand. You can go about your work."
There was clearly something wrong with these medicines!
But obviously it wasn't arranged by the medical staff - it was Lila who put them in herself.
Catherine thought for a moment, took out her phone and called Gavin.
"This is Catherine. Do you have time to come to Bright Heal Hospital?"
"You're finally willing to call me! I'll come right away! Wait for me!"
Gavin wanted to say more, but Catherine hung up and blocked his number.
Gavin talked way too much - it was giving her a headache.
"Got the medicine."
Lila sat up, took the medicine from Catherine's hand, and looked her up and down with a frown.
"Did you switch my medicine? Why does it look different from what Esme usually brings me?"
Catherine now suspected Lila also had severe paranoid delusions.
"You can check the surveillance footage. I got it directly from the nurses' station."
"I guess you wouldn't have the guts anyway. Let me tell you, don't think you can do whatever you want in the Windsor family just because I'm not home. As long as I'm not dead, don't even think about entering the Windsor Villa's front door!"
Catherine said flatly, "I go in every day."
Lila was nearly dying of anger!
This Catherine spoke just as annoyingly as Aurora!
She was unpleasant to look at, nothing like the sensible Esme.
After taking her medicine, Lila started ordering Catherine around again.
"Come, help me to the bathroom. I need to use the toilet."
"When did you become paralyzed?"
"What do you mean! Are you cursing me?!"
Catherine looked confused, "People who aren't paralyzed should be able to use the bathroom by themselves. If you don't think you can, I'll contact the doctor right away to install a catheter for you."
Lila cursed and grumbled, but facing Catherine's innocent expression, she had no choice but to get up and go to the bathroom herself.
This Catherine was nothing compared to the sensible and lovely Esme!
Esme always helped her to the bathroom!
After using the bathroom, Lila started clutching her heart and sighing deeply.
"Why am I so unlucky?"
"Do you want to divorce Grandpa?"
Instantly Lila's head didn't hurt, her back didn't ache, and her trembling finger pointed at Catherine.
"You're trying to make me die of anger!"
"What exactly do you mean? Did your mother teach you to say this? I knew it - Aurora has bad intentions!"
Catherine's eyes were calm as she met the increasingly frantic Lila's gaze, "If you're not divorcing Grandpa, then your luck is pretty good. Don't you think?"
Lila came from humble beginnings, and after marrying Marcus, she rose steadily.
All these years she had been throwing her weight around using her status as Marcus's wife.
It must be Aurora who taught her this!
Lila could barely catch her breath. As the medicine took effect, she fell asleep.
Catherine covered her with a blanket and walked out of the ward.
Gavin rushed up and saw a high school-aged girl standing outside Lila's ward.
She looked young, with a face that was bright and charming. At first glance, she was like seeing a bright moon - stunning and graceful. But she still had some baby fat, making her look at most around ten years old.
"Are you Catherine? I'm Gavin!"
"That's me. Let's talk over there."
"Come to my office. No one will disturb us there."
"Sounds good."
Closing the office door, Gavin looked excited, "Have you finally decided to join my lab?"
"Not going. No future in it."
"How is there no future! Our lab has equipment second only to George's lab in the country!"
Catherine handed the medicine to Gavin.
"Lila's medicine has a big problem. Take a look."
Gavin took it and examined it carefully in his hands. After seeing it clearly, cold sweat nearly dripped down!
"Isn't this Vitality Pills that's all over the black market? Taking too much of this stuff can kill people!"
Vitality Pills had such a scary reputation not because of how miraculous it was, but because it caused patients to have many hallucinations, even making them believe their illness was cured, gradually falling into mental disorder.
In severe cases, it could cause drug dependency and even death!
How could Vitality Pills appear in Lila's medicine!
This wasn't medicine he prescribed!
