Chapter 254: All Intentionally Targeting Catherine
Monitoring Room
The surveillance footage clearly showed the out-of-control vehicle suddenly emerging from the parking lot, crashing into the railings on both sides of the road, then lurching and stumbling toward the tree-lined path!
The logistics staff member pulling up the footage was trembling with fear.
On one hand, this kind of incident happening at the school could have unthinkable consequences if it blew up.
On the other hand, Charles standing behind him had such an overwhelming presence!
Although Charles was polite in his words, even somewhat courteous, the oppressive atmosphere emanating from him still made the logistics staff terrified.
Charles pointed at the surveillance screen.
"Rewind it, to the frame at four minutes and fifteen seconds, please."
In the rewound footage, they could see a person in a wheelchair suddenly appearing on the tree-lined path.
The word "suddenly" was used because Tiberius had originally been in the car, but chose to get out and proceed in the wheelchair.
Charles frowned. "Gabriella, I remember the graduate school doesn't require passing through here."
When Catherine was coming to study at Imperial University, the Windsor family had checked out all the routes on campus overnight.
Charles always liked to have everything under his complete control.
Gabriella nodded. "Maybe Tiberius wanted to see the scenery?"
Imperial University, as an established institution, did have nice scenery, but what business did someone like Tiberius, who had just come off the operating table, have looking at scenery?
"He should be lying in intensive care right now. Please copy this video for me. I will pursue legal responsibility against the driver and the school according to law."
The logistics staff member's forehead was covered in cold sweat.
Unfortunately, at this moment, they couldn't say anything about asking Charles to let the school off the hook, since this really was a failure in the school's supervision!
Gabriella looked at Charles, her tone gentle.
"Mr. Windsor, holding the school accountable is appropriate, but Catherine is still studying at the school. Won't this have a bad impact on her?"
"Catherine can choose any school in the world. There's no need to choose one where she nearly gets hit by a car just walking on campus!"
Charles's tone was sharp, veins bulging on the back of his hand.
His anger had been calmed down by Catherine, but was reignited when he saw the video. If Catherine hadn't reacted quickly herself, wouldn't it be his sister lying in the hospital right now?
"Mr. Windsor, you could calm down first. Even at other schools, accidents can happen due to human factors, right?"
Charles's gaze paused. Having long held a position of power, Charles carried an oppressive air all around him. His eyes swept over Gabriella, then withdrew.
"What do you mean? Are you saying someone deliberately planned this?"
"At least from the video, it's not hard to see that this accident was probably deliberately aimed at Catherine."
Charles's assistant entered from outside, bowing slightly beside him. "Mr. Windsor, the driver has been resuscitated. He says he saw information online and believed Catherine wasn't a good person, so he deliberately tried to hurt her."
Because of those baseless negative rumors? He deliberately drove on campus trying to hurt Catherine?
Charles let out a cold laugh!
"Keep investigating, and include the Harrison family. I want to see exactly who is so relentlessly pursuing Catherine, who won't rest until something happens to her!"
"Yes, also Alexander called to say Catherine is with him, and asks you not to worry."
Catherine had gotten into Alexander's car right after leaving the school. No one knew how Alexander found out about what happened at school, but he specifically had his assistant call Charles's assistant.
Charles's expression improved considerably.
For such a small matter, Alexander knew to inform him—it showed he truly cared about Catherine!
Walking out of the monitoring room, Charles said in a serious tone, "Gabriella, would it be convenient for you to tour the school with me? We don't need to go everywhere, just show me where Catherine usually goes for classes."
His tone was strictly business, his gaze cold, as if they were strangers.
"If it's not convenient for you, you can call another teacher, though preferably Catherine's subject teacher."
These words established clear boundaries—he was asking her to come along only because she was Catherine's subject teacher and homeroom teacher.
The logistics director had already eagerly pushed Gabriella forward. "It's convenient, Gabriella has no classes later. Mr. Windsor, please!"
While speaking, he kept winking at Gabriella.
They needed to appease Charles now!
If the Evergreen Group and the Windsor Group really decided to sue the school, if this blew up, the school would suffer!
Never mind that Gabriella had no classes later—even if she did have classes, she'd need to accompany Charles on this campus tour!
Gabriella had no choice but to agree reluctantly. Looking up, she found Charles had already strode out on his long legs.
Gabriella led Charles around the teaching building.
"First-year courses are generally in lecture halls. Catherine applied for exemptions from many courses, so you just need to look at the main teaching building."
Since Catherine didn't live in the dorms, there was no need to visit the student dormitories either.
Charles reminded her, "There's also the cafeteria."
Given Charles's meticulous attention to every detail concerning Catherine, they did need to check out the cafeteria.
Imperial University had several cafeterias. The one closest to the School of Design already had students eating. Over a dozen windows offered a full variety of food options.
Charles was still wearing his expensive suit, his waist-to-body ratio perfect like a model's, his every movement radiating an imposing presence impossible to ignore. As soon as he walked in, he attracted many students' attention.
He remained oblivious, his gaze serene.
"Gabriella, did you bring your faculty card?"
"Mr. Windsor, are you planning to eat here?"
Gabriella nearly bit her own tongue!
Charles was a famous young tycoon on the wealth rankings—how could he possibly lower himself to eating at a university cafeteria?
The money for a meal here probably wouldn't even cover Charles's cup of coffee!
"Of course I should try the food Catherine would eat to see if it's suitable. I'll transfer you the money—consider it my treat."
Gabriella breathed a sigh of relief.
So it was still because of Catherine. She had almost thought Charles wanted to eat in the cafeteria with her.
Gabriella quickly waved her hands. "No, no, let me treat you. Our school's food is very cheap! What would you like to eat?"
"Whatever's fine. Get me the same thing you're having."
He wasn't sure what Catherine would eat if she ate in the cafeteria.
Charles quickly finished his meal and answered a call from Juniper.
Juniper's voice sounded somewhat dejected, with a hint of tears!
"Charles, something happened at our lab. I want to go home and rest for a few days. Can you come pick me up?"
"Okay, wait for me in your office. I'll be right there."
Charles didn't ask what specifically happened. He stood up with his tray. "This meal is on you, so next time I'll treat you. I have something to attend to, I'm leaving!"
Watching Charles carry his tray with one hand to the tray return area by the door and leave without looking back.
Charles was so anxious and concerned—he must be going to pick up his fiancée, right?
Gabriella suddenly felt the food in her mouth had lost its flavor!
