Chapter 233 Catching Lucy's Handle
"Lucy?"
The Windsor family had several nannies, and even those working in the kitchen were on rotation. Charles wasn't usually home, so he really couldn't recall this person for a moment.
"I remember now. Lucy seems to be a nanny that Lila brought in before, saying she cooked food that suited Lila's taste, and she just stayed with the family after that."
Catherine nodded, understanding Lucy's background.
Charles thought for a moment. "I remember she's from the same hometown as Lila. They used to be neighbors, and she's been with our family for many years—she even took care of our mother during her pregnancy. What's wrong?"
Catherine didn't hide anything from Charles.
"I think there's something off about Lucy, so I checked her phone records. I found she's been in constant contact with Esme, and she's been filming videos of our home and posting them online. She even has quite a few followers on social media."
Lucy had taken an unconventional approach, posting numerous videos on social media about working for the Windsor family as their nanny, and had actually gained many followers!
"Filming videos isn't allowed in the Windsor family. Plus, I found some large cash transfers in her account. I checked her secondhand selling platform, and there are quite a few things from our home on it."
Charles was shocked.
Not only was Lucy filming the Windsor family's daily life and exposing their privacy, but she was also secretly selling the family's belongings on second-hand platforms?
Catherine handed her phone to Charles.
"The Windsor family has so many things and so many houses. When items go missing temporarily, Mom forgets about them, and Lucy sells them."
Everything from the Windsor family was expensive, and most items were unique pieces that money couldn't buy. Lucy sold them at half price and quickly found buyers.
Whether it was Aurora's bags, clothes, shoes, potted plants the Windsor family had bought, jade stones from the garden, or even kitchenware—everything had been listed for sale.
Charles exclaimed in surprise, "Isn't this the stationery from my study? Grandfather gave it to me. I never used it and forgot about it, but Lucy sold it!"
The stationery Samuel gave him was quite valuable, yet Lucy had listed it for ten thousand dollars and it was immediately purchased.
Ten thousand dollars probably couldn't even buy the fountain pen from that set!
Catherine opened Lucy's social media account.
Lucy updated short videos almost daily, all filmed from her perspective, secretly recording the Windsor family members and her own work routine.
And this had brought Lucy quite a following.
Many videos even showed Aurora and Brandon's faces clearly.
Charles said through gritted teeth, "Filming isn't allowed in our home, it's in the contract. Just based on these videos alone, we can demand compensation!"
"Catherine, don't worry. I'll handle this! Come on, let's go down for dinner first!"
Catherine followed Charles to the living room, where Aurora was discussing the placement of the dishes with Lucy.
"Lucy, put these dishes by Catherine, and these plates near Charles—they like these."
"Okay."
"I bought a set of sterling silver tableware last time. Find it tomorrow and start using it. That set will match better with the jewelry I've been wearing these past few days."
Hearing about the sterling silver tableware, Catherine raised an eyebrow.
Lucy's hands visibly trembled.
That set of sterling silver tableware had been sold by Lucy just yesterday for twenty-five thousand dollars. In a couple of days, it would probably be a prized possession in someone else's cabinet.
Facing Aurora's request, Lucy nodded and agreed without changing her expression.
Catherine said casually, "Mom, I'd also like to see the sterling silver tableware you bought. Why don't we use it today?"
Hearing Catherine's request, Aurora immediately agreed with a smile.
"Sure, sure, whatever you say. Lucy, didn't you hear what Catherine said? Go change it now."
Lucy was grinding her teeth.
What was Catherine getting at!
She really was a country bumpkin—who changes tableware right before eating? It would ruin the meal!
Besides, Lucy had already called for express delivery to ship that set out. The replica she'd ordered online hadn't arrived yet, so she couldn't produce it now!
"Mrs. Windsor, the food is already on the table. Changing it now would make Marcus and Felix wait for their meal."
Bringing up Marcus and Felix should prevent them from demanding the tableware right now, right?
Marcus waved his hand, looking at his newspaper as he spoke. "If Catherine says to change the tableware, then change it. She rarely asks for anything, so of course we should fulfill her request!"
Felix felt the same way.
Catherine was wonderful!
Smart, beautiful, and considerate, but almost too considerate—she didn't have a spoiled bone in her body. Clearly a good child raised by Elodie.
If Catherine was willing to ask for something, they were more than happy to satisfy her.
Besides, it was just changing tableware. What was wrong with indulging her?
Lucy felt like she was going to faint!
Only she knew there was no such tableware in the cabinet. Now Aurora was asking her to switch to that set—where was she supposed to get it?
"Mrs. Windsor, I sent that set to be cleaned. It won't be back until tomorrow."
Catherine looked up at Lucy. "I remember our family's tableware comes pre-cleaned. Why would it need to be washed again?"
"You don't understand—the Windsor family isn't an ordinary household. We're very particular about tableware. Since you're interested in that set, I'll have them deliver it tomorrow."
A cold smile played at the corner of Catherine's mouth.
"Really? I'm afraid you won't be able to find that tableware at all, considering the express delivery is almost at Oceancrest City by now."
Lucy's eyes widened as she stared at Catherine!
How did she know she'd sold that tableware to a buyer in Oceancrest City?
Aurora asked in confusion, "Catherine, what are you talking about? What's wrong with that tableware?"
Catherine glanced at Lucy. "That tableware has already been sold by Lucy."
Lucy panicked immediately, her eyes darting around frantically!
"Ms. Windsor, you can't make false accusations! You can't say things without evidence! I've been with the Windsor family longer than you have!"
Evidence? Catherine actually had plenty of that.
Catherine opened a page on her phone and handed it to Aurora, showing all the secondhand items Lucy had recently sold successfully.
Aurora recognized those things immediately!
"The pearl necklace I've been looking for—you just took it and sold it?"
"The Windsor family has treated you well! How could we have raised such an ungrateful person!"
