Chapter 225 Catherine Is Truly Versatile

Chapter 225 Catherine Is Truly Versatile

Looking at the person lying on the bed, Catherine couldn’t help but sigh. "What are you doing here?"

Emilia hugged the stuffed animals on Catherine’s bed, tugging and stretching their faces until they were all out of shape.

"I missed you! When you didn't come back, I just waited for you in your room!"

"Just say what you need to say."

Emilia's actions had already given away her thoughts - clearly she had something on her mind to be waiting in Catherine's room.

"I knew I couldn't hide anything from you!"

Emilia took out her phone and handed it to Catherine. "A couple days ago, someone messaged me saying they have a lot of my mother's belongings, but something feels off about it."

After all, Emilia had grown up in the Hughes family since childhood.

One look from Anthony and Emilia would know exactly what to do and say - she was quite sharp. Her first reaction to those messages was that something wasn't right.

After thinking it over, Catherine was the only person Emilia could turn to, so she went straight to The Windsor Mansion to find her.

After all, Catherine was so capable, she'd definitely know how to handle this!

"Did you look into this person?"

After receiving these messages, Emilia would definitely want to find out what was happening within Blade of Dusk.

When Emilia’s mother passed away, Emilia had just been born. The people at Blade of Dusk who had been close to her mother would know best who might have her belongings.

"I checked—he’s just a former Blade of Dusk member who retired as he got older." Emilia rested her chin on the stuffed animal, her brows knitting slightly.

Catherine nodded, confirming Emilia's suspicion.

"Something's not right. The people who were close to your mother should just give you the items directly now that you've taken over Blade of Dusk. There's no need to arrange a meeting to hand them over."

Catherine waved the phone. "Can I use this?"

Emilia was generous. "Sure, use it however you want!"

Emilia thought Catherine was going to do something with her phone, but then she saw her bend down and pull out a computer from under the bed!

And it was only palm-sized!

Catherine casually removed the hair tie from her head, but as she held it in her hand, she noticed something odd.

"This hair tie is really pretty. Did you just buy it?"

"I guess so."

Catherine suddenly remembered that when she was bandaging Alexander's wound last night, she'd seen quite a few scratches on his palm.

Assassins encounter all sorts of problems during missions, so having injuries on his hands was normal - she hadn't thought much of it.

Seeing the hair tie in her hand now, Catherine realized Alexander had deliberately messed up her hair last night.

For some reason, while Catherine had felt happy receiving the hair tie from George, holding this one in her hand made her heart skip a beat.

Catherine started up the computer. After connecting Emilia's phone, Catherine's fingers flew rapidly across the keyboard, her gaze calm and focused.

Watching the stream of data on Catherine's computer screen, Emilia just felt uncomfortable.

What even was all this? She couldn't understand any of it!

Was Catherine really this amazing? How did she know how to do everything?

The data on the screen quickly traced a hidden IP address. Catherine stared at the location, her brows knitting slightly.

"Do you know this place?"

Emilia leaned in for a look. "Isn't this near The Hughes Manor?"

Seeing the familiar address, Emilia immediately recognized it as being near The Hughes Manor.

Emilia thought carefully.

"I remember that area has jade factories and lots of antique shops. It should be from one of those antique shops."

"Let's go check it out tomorrow."

"What? Why tomorrow? Will we be discovered if we go now?"

Catherine glanced at her, put away the computer and phone, and lay straight down.

"Because right now I need to sleep."

Last night Annie had called her over to The Howard Mansion, and she hadn't found time to rest during the day either.

What Catherine needed most right now was sleep!

Next door, at The Howard Mansion.

Alexander watched the lights go off in the house across the way, as the huge mansion fell into complete silence.

Knowing Catherine must be resting, he turned and walked into his study.

The old butler stood beside Alexander.

"Mr. Howard, several of our merger cases have suddenly run into problems that need your attention."

"Mr. Howard has already reviewed them and said those people over there are getting restless again."

Alexander nodded and picked up the documents on the desk to look through them.

The documents at home were just one part - there were many more files at the company that needed his attention.

"Got it. I'm going to rest now, I'll look at them tomorrow."

"Alright! Good night, sir!"

The butler was somewhat surprised.

Even in the past, Alexander had been a martyr to his work, heading into the office with a fever or barking orders from a hospital bed. He had once even demanded his financial reports the moment he regained consciousness after surgery.
Working around the clock was just routine for Alexander.

The butler had been prepared for Alexander to stay up all night handling these documents.

But now he actually knew to rest!

Meeting the butler's shocked gaze, Alexander said coldly, "If Catherine asks, tell her I went to sleep and didn't stay up working."

The butler's pupils contracted, and he felt deep respect in his heart for Catherine living across the way!

So this was all Catherine's doing!

She had actually managed to convince Alexander—a man who operated with the cold, tireless precision of a machine—to finally prioritize rest. In the butler’s eyes, Catherine was truly extraordinary.

No wonder Felix couldn't stop praising his future granddaughter-in-law.

If Catherine married into the family in the future, who knows how lively this household would become.

Early the next morning, Catherine took Emilia to the place she'd investigated last night.

The IP location was on an antique street, with quite a few shops selling jade.

The shop Catherine had traced was completely stacked with raw jade materials at the entrance.

"This should be the right place."

"How did I not know they opened a jade shop after retiring?"

Emilia wasn't too clear on Blade of Dusk matters, but people who used to be in the underworld more or less had some enemies.

To avoid being hunted or falling victim to old vendettas, most of those who managed to survive the underworld chose to vanish entirely rather than risk the exposure of a public trade.

The jade business was particularly risky—staying within the same trade was practically an invitation for old enemies to track them down. Catherine tilted her chin up, a flash of determination in her eyes. "Let's go inside and see what we're dealing with."

The shop had quite a bit of jade inside, with some pieces displayed on the counter - clearly surface-quality material meant to fool people.

All the kind that looked expensive but were actually low-grade goods filled with resin inside.

When the shop owner saw two young, pretty women walk in, his face immediately broke into a smile.

To his eyes, women like these were the ultimate marks—clueless, wealthy, and remarkably easy to bleed dry.
At this thought, the shop owner looked at them with eyes as heated as if looking at two plump sheep ready for slaughter!
