Chapter 134: Catherine Is Really Tempting
Catherine turned slightly and could immediately feel Alexander's presence wrapping around her, strong and dominating.
"Let go."
"Just wait a moment. You don't want to disturb the others, do you?"
How did this become about her disturbing others?
Alexander held Catherine, his arm around her slender waist. "Look, Aurora and Samuel are still in the garden."
Samuel loved flowers and plants. Late at night, he suddenly remembered that The Windsor Mansion had quite a few night-blooming cereus flowers. He got up excitedly to see them, and Aurora couldn't talk him out of it, so she simply kept him company.
Catherine's room was on the second floor with the best view. She could see most of The Windsor Mansion just by leaning forward. Similarly, anyone in the garden could look up and see what was happening on the balcony right now.
If the Windsor family saw Alexander holding her like this, Catherine didn't dare imagine what else might happen tonight.
"If you let go, it won't affect anyone else."
Alexander's grip tightened a bit more, and his breathing became even hotter in an instant, all of it landing on Catherine's neck.
"But I don't want to."
Didn't Catherine know how attractive she was to him?
Just seeing her made his heart beat more violently.
If this continued, it seemed he wouldn't be satisfied with just holding her anymore!
To avoid disturbing the others in the villa, Catherine didn't speak or push Alexander away. She just quietly let him hold her.
His heart pressed against her back, as if their heartbeats were merging at this moment. The strong masculine scent surrounded her, making Catherine's face flush red.
Why was her heartbeat also racing as violently as Alexander's?
After five minutes, Catherine finally spoke: "That's enough, right?"
Alexander reluctantly let go, saying meaningfully, "Only five minutes? You really underestimate me."
The smile on Alexander's lips carried an inexplicable danger, as if he might devour the well-behaved Catherine in front of him at any moment. But he knew Catherine wasn't a delicate clinging vine, and even if he couldn't control himself, he had to restrain himself.
The night was deep, and Alexander felt like the beast inside him was about to be awakened!
All of this was only because she was too tempting, always making him unable to help himself.
Catherine's ears turned red!
She felt like Alexander's words had hidden meanings. Meeting his intense, deep gaze, she felt like she was about to be burned up too.
Alexander took her hand and stood with her leaning against the balcony railing.
"When do you plan to tell Grandpa about Esme?"
"What did you find out?"
"Whatever you found out, I found out the same thing."
Catherine pressed her lips together. "I suspect Lila's sudden episode tonight was also because Esme did something."
"My fiancée and I think alike."
Alexander's hand restlessly squeezed Catherine's palm. "From tonight, it seems Esme doesn't want to leave Imperia City, so she's trying to delay."
Catherine looked up at him.
"You care about her a lot?"
"Of course not. Why would I care about her? I only care about you."
Meeting Catherine's gaze, he felt she looked especially adorable!
How could she think he cared about Esme? In Alexander's eyes, Esme barely existed!
"It's just that she keeps appearing and interrupting our time together, which is annoying."
The time he managed to squeeze out to be with Catherine wasn't meant to be spent looking at irrelevant people!
Catherine said flatly, "Whether she wants to leave or not has nothing to do with me."
It's just that the things Esme did, the Windsor family had the right to know.
"I support all your decisions."
"You can go now. My grandpa has been looking at you several times already."
In the garden, Samuel had been coughing several times while watching Alexander and Catherine holding hands on the balcony!
This Alexander—he'd already given him plenty of time for a date. Why was he still hanging around?
Alexander chuckled and bent down to place a goodnight kiss on the back of Catherine's hand.
"Good night."
His movements were always gentlemanly and proper, impossible to fault.
After the kiss, Alexander left Catherine's room and went to the garden to say a few words to Samuel.
From Catherine's angle, she could see Alexander bending down to talk to Samuel about the night-blooming cereus, making Samuel laugh heartily with just a few sentences.
Aurora stood to the side, her eyes full of affection, looking at Alexander with even more satisfaction than she looked at her own sons!
Someone as high and mighty as Alexander could actually get along so well with her family for her sake.
Catherine suddenly remembered—he said he would love her family!
The lights in the villa across soon came on. Alexander stood on his room's balcony looking at Catherine, his face full of gentle, warm smiles.
Being able to see her only across a garden still wasn't as good as holding her just now.
But to get her to willingly live with him, he'd have to wait until after marriage!
Charles walked into Catherine's room, pulled the curtains closed with a stern face, and gave Alexander a warning look.
"Doesn't Mr. Howard have anything better to do? Catherine, do you want to switch rooms and move to the other side? That way you won't be disturbed."
"No need. Moving back and forth is too much trouble."
She was used to this room.
"Catherine, don't let Alexander fool you!"
Catherine looked a bit confused. "Charles, what could he possibly fool me about?"
Meeting Catherine's clear eyes, Charles suddenly froze!
He couldn't very well tell Catherine that Alexander obviously had improper intentions toward her, could he?
No, no—saying that would definitely scare Catherine!
Charles thought for a moment and simply pulled over a chair to sit beside Catherine.
"Catherine, do you like him?"
The emotion of liking—it seemed like she hadn't felt that in many years, let alone liked someone.
But she didn't reject Alexander getting close to her. When facing danger, she didn't reject his protection either, and was even willing to trust him with her back. That should be liking, right?
When he held her, her heart would race too, but was that attraction?
Catherine thought about it and chose to answer honestly.
"I don't know, but I don't dislike it."
Charles was on the verge of tears, feeling like Catherine was being stolen away, but he still managed to squeeze out a kind smile.
"As long as you're happy. If he bullies you, remember to tell me."
"I know."
Charles touched Catherine's hair and said seriously, "How is Grandma?"
"In the ICU. Charles, I want to ask you something."
"Go ahead, I'll tell you everything."
Catherine looked at Charles seriously. "I want to know how you view Lila."
How the Windsor family felt about Lila would determine whether she should tell them what she'd investigated!
