Chapter 112: Take You Home to Have a Look
"What do you mean by that?"
Ethan stepped forward to tuck Matthew in, looking at Catherine with a pleading expression.
"This isn't a good place to talk. Let's not disturb his rest. We can go outside."
"Okay."
After leaving the hospital room, Ethan explained: "The person is indeed locked up in a cell right now. After I picked him up from Angel's Haven Orphanage last time, he was arrested by your police shortly after. I can only tell you the location of the prison. As for whether you can see him and get the information you want, that's not my concern anymore."
Catherine wore a mask that covered her face completely, only her slightly furrowed brows visible.
Her eyes were particularly beautiful, with a frosty light condensed in them, like a goddess descending from a snowy mountain, untouched by dust.
"Fine, but you better not be lying to me."
"Don't worry. Since I promised you, I wouldn't play tricks on something like this. If you ever decide to join our organization, you're always welcome!"
Ethan seized the opportunity to recruit her.
Even internationally renowned brain surgery experts didn't dare operate on Matthew's condition. He had even risked finding many black market doctors, but none dared guarantee a cure!
Only Phantom Doctor Moon standing before him had cured Matthew!
This showed that Phantom Doctor Moon's medical skills were even more incredible than the legends suggested. If he could get her to join Abyssal Blades, their organization could dominate internationally!
A hand wrapped around Catherine's slender waist from behind.
His hand was somewhat warm, resting on her delicate waist, allowing Catherine to feel the strength in his palm.
Alexander was radiating coldness, looking at Ethan with murderous intent.
"Ethan never learns to read the room. Since that's the case, Shadow Syndicate will give Abyssal Blades' people a proper welcome."
Ethan's expression changed immediately!
Alexander was threatening him!
Meeting Alexander's warning gaze, Ethan let out a cold laugh.
"Does Shadow Syndicate call the shots in Stellara now?"
"Whether we do or not, you'll find out soon enough."
Alexander glanced at him coolly and left Healing Touch Hospital with Catherine in his arms.
He reluctantly released the soft and fragrant Catherine from his embrace. He didn't know what magic she possessed, but every time he got close, he didn't want to let go!
If she weren't still so young, he would want to marry her right away.
Alexander opened the car door and carefully fastened Catherine's seatbelt.
"My grandfather called asking us to pick them up from the hospital. Should we head back to Imperia City now?"
It was indeed about time for Marcus and Felix to be discharged according to schedule. They'd been bombarded with calls since early morning.
Catherine hadn't answered, so the calls went to Alexander instead.
"Okay, but this doesn't look like the direction to Imperia City."
Alexander smiled, warm as spring.
"I'm taking you somewhere. They can wait a bit longer, it's not urgent."
After all, Marcus and Felix had been in the hospital for so long already, making them wait a little longer wouldn't be a big deal.
He finally had some alone time with Catherine!
"Where are we going?"
"You'll find out soon enough. Besides, Charles told me to take you around and have some fun, no rush to go back."
Charles was worried about Ethan's people still lurking in Imperia City and had been spending the past few days dealing with it.
By the time Ethan realized what was happening, all of Abyssal Blades' people in Stellara would probably be rounded up.
Alexander slowly drove the car into a rural area. The somewhat desolate village seemed out of place with his luxury car, like an intruder breaking the peace.
The car stopped in front of a courtyard. Catherine immediately recognized it as the Smith family's old house where she grew up!
A new sign hung at the entrance!
Cloudscape Villa!
Neil saw the car from afar and jogged over to open the door.
"Boss, you're back! This must be your husband, right?"
"Come on in with me!"
Catherine clearly hadn't expected Alexander to bring her back here.
Catherine noticed that even the road at the entrance had been newly renovated.
"Neil, who fixed the road at the entrance?"
Neil was extremely proud, puffing out his chest matter-of-factly. "Of course it was done according to your instructions, using the money Oliver donated! We bought the best materials. The village has internet now! With the money left over, we're planning to buy solar panels for the village!"
This village was particularly poor because of how remote it was.
It had taken Alexander great effort to drive his car in.
If the road hadn't been recently fixed, probably only ox carts and helicopters could get in!
Pushing open the courtyard gate, there was a rocking chair under a maple tree, swaying in the wind.
Neil introduced: "The family altar for Elodie is also in the courtyard, under the maple tree. Charles from the Windsor family said to let Elodie continue living here."
As Neil spoke, he quietly wiped away tears.
He and Elodie had grown up together. Watching Elodie leave after a lifetime of hardship that amounted to nothing in the end!
It was truly heartbreaking!
"Your grandmother, at least she had such a good granddaughter like you. She didn't suffer, didn't suffer! Everyone gets what they deserve in life, and Oliver, he's Elodie's karma!"
"Such an ungrateful person. Elodie picked him up and raised him with such hard work, and he treated her like that."
Neil spoke with feeling, grinding his teeth.
Catherine was somewhat surprised!
Oliver wasn't Elodie's biological child?
"Neil, what do you mean? Oliver isn't my grandmother's biological son?"
"These are all old stories. Back then, your grandmother gave birth to a child, but that child died young. So your grandmother adopted an unwanted child, which was Oliver."
Neil realized he'd said too much, patted his mouth, and refused to say anything more. He waved his hand and left.
Catherine stared at his hunched figure, still feeling puzzled.
Oliver wasn't Elodie's child? How had she not known this all these years!
Elodie herself had never mentioned it!
Alexander watched Catherine standing under the maple tree. Many maple leaves had fallen on her dress, as if she were standing in a grand rain of maple leaves, like a fairy stepping out of a painting.
Yet her every movement was particularly elegant and carefree. The evening wind blew, lifting the hem of her dress, making her even more beautiful.
Alexander's breath caught. He reached out to remove the maple leaves from Catherine's shoulders and hair.
His voice was tender and lingering, with a waltz-like magnetism.
"Can you show me where you grew up?"
His feather-light voice brushed past Catherine's ear.
"You brought me here just for this?"
Alexander held her hand and laughed softly.
He was gentle and considerate, carefully explaining his actions.
"On one hand, of course I want to see where my fiancée grew up. On the other hand, since we're already back, you should naturally come home and let your grandmother know that you're doing well now."
