Chapter 68 Chapter 68
Bella's POV.
"I can explain. I didn't mean to abandon you." my mother said while maintaining eye contact with a smile.
I sighed, dreading her presence as she took a seat next to me and I peeked at her with a tight-lipped smile. I despised her for taking off without me.
"Go ahead," I replied.
She let out a long breath and then proceeded to tell me the most bizarre story I have ever heard in my entire life.
Sitting quietly, I paid great attention to her telling me her side of the story which explained all the odd trances I was facing in the past two months and that I was a hybrid… half wolf, half siren.
What the fuck? I lived an imitative life without knowing all this information...
I was frozen and staring with wide eyes. My birth mother was my father's side chick and John had no shame in impregnating my poor defenseless mother who was only seeking refuge from the barbaric ways of life in Pavlopetri city.
This is too much information to digest in one day.
I gasped as I placed my palm on my chest. This is definitely a very shocking turn of events and to think I had all these great hidden infinite abilities within me, it made me grow big-headed.
Given a second chance in the moonstone pack, I would have taught Zach and Crystal a lesson they would never forget… my wolf chuckled internally at the thought.
"I'm so sorry I left you but I had no choice." My mother sniffed and shook her shoulders.
Looking at her sad face, I could see diamond-shimmering tears prickling in the corner of her eyes.
Wow, so that's where I got mine too. I swallowed hard then reached out for her precarious hands. She was a different person from the proud elegant woman who showed up unannounced a few days ago.
"It's ok mom, I forgive you." I realized being furious at her would not solve anything but drift us apart. Besides she was the only person who could teach me how to use the new powers I so eagerly wanted to learn.
Imagine me, Bella wood the little omega skittish wolf from moonstone luring and commanding thousands of men with just my voice. I smirked discreetly.
I guessed mistress Edina was right about sensing my different aura.
I definitely owe her an apology or not...
"So mom, did you ever get your happily ever after?" I made an effort to create small talk just to get to know more about her.
"Yes, I have it now." She beamed.
"Okay, do I have a stepfather or siblings who leave in the ocean?"
"No, baby, I only have you." She sighed softly.
Eh? I furrowed my brows. But I thought she had her happily ever after….
"But you said you had your happily ever after. What is it if you don't mind me asking."
"You, my baby are my happily ever after and the next heir of pavlopetri city." She summed up.
"What?" my heart skipped a beat.
"You are the only surviving child I have therefore you are my successor after my timely death." She answered back in a calm voice.
Hell no, I loved that I had new powers I could use to manipulate people in the pack and a mother but my ruling an underwater city is absurd.
"I'm sorry mom, but I will have to reject that offer. I hardly can swim and you want me to rule a city underwater?"
"Oh baby," she chortled. " You can swim and you can breathe underwater… it's just the timing we need to monitor since you are a hybrid." She poked fun at it.
Wow, so all along I could do all these things I dreaded, but what happens to my life on the surface should I choose to accept my mother's outrageous proposal?
"So what do you think about everything I have said?" she raised a question.
I sighed with butterflies in my stomach. This woman knows how to put someone on the spot. I cupped my bottom lip with my teeth... Everything in my life was moving too fast and visiting my mother's city did not sound like a bad idea "Mom, I would love to see where you come from?" I got up and looked down at her with an inquisitive stare.
I wanted so much to see the other side of where my traits came from.
"That is a terrific decision, my baby." She got up and spruced her wrinkled pencil dress.
Suddenly my ears gave attention to feeble rackets in the dark shadows of the trees. I quickly veered around to catch a glimpse of whatever was roaming behind me.
"Who is there?" My heart thumped wildly
And there was no response but the sounds of crickets and bullfrogs calling to their mates. Then the cold waft blew up the dried-up leaves into the spotlight.
"Sweetheart, are you okay?" My mother asked.
"Yes, I just thought I heard something strolling towards us."
"I don't see anything." she darted in the same direction as I was. "Let's take you inside so that we can ask for permission for you to visit my City." She clasped my hand and then gently tugged me towards her side.
"Oh my, I completely forgot about Jacob." I joked.
"You wish. Alpha Jacob is a good man." she made an effort to take a step forward but her heel got stuck in something and she stumbled dangerously.
"Mom, are you okay?" I quickly stepped out to her rescue.
"Yes, baby. I just wonder how you walk in these things." She toiled to get her shoe out of whatever it was stuck in as we both strolled inside the mansion….
"Babe, where are you?" I called out to Jacob seeing it was only right to tell him where I was headed to with my mother after sunset.
Queen Zita was my mother and I could not get enough of the word mother out of my lips… I asked the goddess to give me answers to my strange trances and she gifted me with my mother after Soo many years.
"Yes, kitten." Jacob walked out of his office with a leopard-like grace. His eyes had a fiery flare of passion and wonder.
'I wonder what they talked about.' I accidentally heard his thought and I chuckled.
"Why are you laughing?" He grabbed me by my waist without caring about my mother's presence and sowed a passionate kiss on my lips.
Umh I moaned to the pleasurable tingles his kiss sent to my core.
He tensed, then broke off the kiss. "Queen Zita," he bobbed his head to her. "I presume the reunion went well."
"Yes, Alpha. And I thank you for allowing me back into your territory," she replied with a smile.
"oh Babe, before I forget, Queen…" I paused because I needed to correct how I addressed my mother. "Ahem," I cleared my throat with a tight-lipped smile. " my mother wants to show me her city. Therefore we are leaving now and I will be back later." I made an effort to kiss him goodbye but his frowned face caught me off, guard.
"No, you can't leave for a place I have never visited." He hissed and his response surprised me.
That is strange. I thought he was the one who wanted me to amend with my mother but now he wants to act like a stranger pertaining to my request?
"What do you mean no?" I furrowed my brows while I shoved his hands away from my waist.
"I mean you can't go today," he answered back with a serious face.
"Umm, please excuse me. Bella, I will be outside." My mother said then hurriedly sauntered away.
"You see what you have done?" I snapped at him because he had the decency to say no in my mother's presence which I did not appreciate.
"Kitten, I love that you have fixed the bridge with your mother, but I will not let you go with her just like that on the first day."
"Eh?" I placed my hand on my hips with serious boldface. "You are not the boss of me. Don't try to control me. My mother had to sacrifice a lot for me and now you don't want me to see where I come from?" I was impudent.
"I don't mean it that way." He groaned.
"Then what?"
"You know what, go if you want to." He rubbed his face with his fingers and immediately walked away.
"Yes, I'm going." I hissed as he walked away.
Why did he bring her to me if he did not want me to learn more about where she came from so that we get answers to my odd trances?
I rolled my eyes and then walked towards the exit to meet up with my mother. I sighed heavily with mixed feelings.
For the first time, we had a petty lover's quarrel.
