Chapter 60 Chapter 60

Chapter 60 Chapter 60
Bella's POV.

Minutes later,

Our breakfast date was cut short by a frantic call from Gamma Nick, saying that the village was under attack, but we did not know who was behind the invasion. We walked into the mansion hand in hand with springy steps...as I almost tipped off my high heels.

"Be careful kitten." jacobs deep husky voice sent a happy yet weird tingle to my core... He was protective and dominating at the same time and did not know if I liked them both mixed together.

We got to the lounge and it was dead silent with only Nick, panting hard, I could see beads of sweat forming on his forehead.

I glanced around and caught a glimpse of most of the servants had returned from their short vacation.

I wondered where the war was at as I tried to regain the proper momentum of my heartbeat.

"Where is the war?" Jacob darted at Nick with a worrisome face.

Nick as usual was dressed in one of his fancy suits.
"Alpha, it's your grandmother, mistress Edina, who is creating the…" Alpha Jacob raised his hand to Nick's face, telling him to shut it, I reckoned. And it worked because he stopped talking at once.

Edina shepherd, oh goddess, why did she have to come back so soon just when everything was falling in place… anyway, at least the trances were gone and she will have one less bad thing to talk about me. I sighed softly while looking at Jacob and Nick going back and forth in their conversation.

"Nick? So you called for me because of my grandma?" He groaned so loud I could sense his frustration. "I know my grandmother is a handful, but she can't incite a war." Jacob clenched his jaws while Nick bowed his head in submission.

"Alpha, then please explain to me what she is doing in the living room." He answered while extending his hand to the said entrance of the room.

We both turned our heads to face the room, which had its door shut.

"What is Edina up to now?" I held on to Jacob's hand tightly because I did not know what to expect in that room.

With hesitant steps, all three of us walked into the room with Nick frightfully following behind me… he whimpered so loud, I could hear his feeble series of low expressive sounds coming from his mouth… I sneered silently while rolling my eyes.

I wondered how he would act if a real gangster war broke out.

Jacob opened the door and low and behold, mistress Edina shepherd and her special blind disciple katana were busy doing something you only see in movies.

They both were dressed in blood-red robes which had caps that covered their heads.

I gasped as my eyes widened and my heart skipped a beat.

The floor had white-powered substances that depicted some kind of a cultic symbol they stood on.

What the hell is this?

The room's curtains were closed, blocking out any kind of sunlight shining in the big spacious living room. Then a foul scent hit my nose which was so awful I gagged a little bit in my mouth.

Where is that smell coming from? My eyes readjusted to the dark room and the scent came from the light-up sage, which filled up the room… I quickly put my hand over my mouth and nose to diminish the awful scent that lingered in the room freely.

"Ahulu, ahulu ahulu… spirit of the white crystals, I call upon your presence, to feel this room and cleanse this mansion, cleanse my grandson Jacob Shepard of the midnight pack of any evil.." Edina and katana held hands together while there, swaying their bodies like those of people who have been possessed by an evil entity.

"Grandma!" Jacob snarled in an angry resonant commanding voice.

My body shuddered as that of Edina and katana while their hands broke free from each other. Edina froze while staring at us with widened eyes and raised eyebrows.

"Jacob," Edina's voice stuttered faintly. " You are just the person I wanted to see." She walked closer and us with a bottle of an unknown substance in it

"Nana, what nonsense are you doing in my house?" Jacob said while skimming through the dark room. " Nick, can you open all the curtains and windows to allow fresh air." His deep authoritative voice sent a delicious shiver down my spine as I looked up at him, lost in thought.

Alpha Jacob was not a pushover like someone I won't mention his name…I sighed merrily forgetting the unnatural issue at hand... I had heard tales of witches and other odd behaviors they did during spell-casting ceremonies but had never seen them in their elements like Edina and katana. This was a first for me.

Suddenly, the sunlight rays abruptly shone inside the room while Nick drew the curtains open.

"I'm trying to protect you my boy from this demon." Edina used her eyes to point at me with a disgusting scowl.

Eh? Did she just call me a demon?

Everyone in the room apart from Jacob darted at me with quizzically stern emotionless faces.

"Everyone get out of the room now." Jacob gave an order for Nick and katana plus the few onlookers servants eves dropping on our conversation to leave immediately.

Everyone, rashly walked out of the room as Nick, being the last one closed the two huge wooden doors in his own face.

"Nana, why do you do things which make me push you away from me?" Jacob raised a question while glancing at Edina.

"I do these specialties to protect the best interest in your welfare." Edina walked closer to Jacob and placed her wrinkly hand on his cheek.

I gasped because she thought I was a demon… this woman will never cease to amaze me. I swallowed.

I was tempted to say something but I will let Jacob put his grandmother in her place. I bit my tongue to stop myself from blurting out something ludicrous to her.

Let's see how this plays out. I gently slipped my hand away from Jacob's hand and crossed both my hands on my chest.

"Nana, protect me from what?"

"From your new mate. The Oracle told me about her evil background, which will be the end of you and your pack." She spoke in a slow enticing voice, and I swear if it was not me she was talking about, I could have believed every word she spoke ill about me… and for a second, she had Jacob almost falling for her trap as he became quiet.

Wow, grandma one, Bella zero.

"Think about it my jay, I can never want to harm you in any way, it's this unknown thing we should be worried about," she added to her deceitful utterances.

Thing??? I will bitch slap this woman.

"Nana, please stop it now." He gently shoved her hand away from his cheek. "I don't care what your Oracle said about Bella but she is my mate and Luna… this is the very same reason I stopped talking to you when you thought Avery was not good enough for me." He sighed.

"Yes, that one was not good enough for you but this one is very evil." She answered back with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

"Edina!" Jacob's face reddened with raging anger and I could see from the way he clenched his jaws and fists.

Oh dear, why does this woman hate me so much as Diana did… my heart felt torn apart by her hurtful statement, and I could not help but shed a tear of sadness.

Edina glanced at me with her mouth open. "Jacob, you see that?" She pointed out to my face with her finger and then squirted the unknown contents of the bottle she held in her hand.

"Grandma!" Jacob tensed as his eyes gleamed.

What the hell? I frowned at her action because I could not look at my own face to tell what was going on.

"This girl is evil." Her raspy voice sent a dreadful feeling in my gut.

Jacob hesitantly turned his face to me and his eyes widened with disbelief at whatever he was seeing on my face that I could not see…

"Bella." Jacob's silent but audible voice called out my name.

Was it the tears I shed because of Edina's statement?

I turned my face to the huge decorative mirror which hung in the room and I saw what they both fussed about.

My tear shimmered like a diamond being reflected by light. I gasped as my knees trembled with fear and disbelief…just when a ray of hope in seer Aiden's voice took me off my odd trances, this happened, right before Edina's sight. Oh, dear moon goddess, please take my life already because I'm tired of all the torment going on in my life. I wiped off the unknown substance from my face with the back of my palm.

Was I born for this until death do my part?

I flickered my eyes and more shimmering tears trickled down my pink cheeks.

Everyone in the room was quiet as my legs slowly dragged me closer to the mirror and that's when my ears gave attention to light footsteps kissing the floor. My face turned to the door.

Seconds later, the two huge wooden doors opened wide as a beautiful slender ravishing woman aged between her mid-fifty to sixty, cat walked into the room barefoot. She wore a long sheer dress, embellished with blue crystals. Her high-slit dress swept the floor as she gracefully walked in with a poised face. She glanced at me and a beautiful charming smile radiated on her face and she winked at me.

Her hair was curly blonde which hung loosely on her shoulders, and it looked damp.

Her face, where did I see it? I furrowed my brows while looking at her elegant poised posture.
