The Key

Nana's POV

I would never trust a demon in my life. Never again. That was the rule I lived by, the lesson I learned the hard way.

Demons were manipulative, deceitful creatures—cast out by their creator, their existence a stain upon the world. I'd seen what they were capable of.

hey thrived on chaos, and their only loyalty was to themselves.

But then there was Dyvian.

I hated to admit it, but there was something about him, something that made me open my door to him every time.

It wasn’t that I trusted him—far from it. But when he appeared, that damned creature, I couldn’t close my heart. He had a certain… depth to him.

He wasn’t like the others. If he was a demon, he wasn’t the usual kind. In a way, he reminded me of Xaren—someone who had shown compassion, someone who wasn’t swallowed by the darkness of their kind.

That didn't mean I would ever let my guard down. Never. But with Dyvian, I found myself always considering his words, even when I knew I should send him away.

He was a demon. That much hadn't changed.

But when he stood there, asking for help, it was different. He wasn’t asking to aid in some grand scheme to bring chaos or ruin.

He wasn’t reveling in the potential of Lucifer’s awakening like I expected him to. No, he came to me—of all people—for help. That alone spoke volumes.

The demon was afraid, and if there was one thing I could understand, it was fear. Even if it came from the most unlikely source.

The Key to awakening Lucifer?

The thought sent a shiver through me. The truth about Lucifer’s slumber had always been a bitter tale whispered in the darkest corners of history.

I had heard bits and pieces, but never the full story.

The more I pondered it, the more it made sense.

Lucifer, the fallen angel, the one who had once been adored by the Almighty, until that love turned bitter.

He had once been the brightest, most beloved of all. But in his pride and arrogance, he began to see beyond the boundaries of the world he was meant to govern.

His vision of the universe became twisted. He became disillusioned with the power and love that he had once enjoyed, and hatred grew as a result.

And then came the Angel of Kindness.

That damn angel. The one who arrived from heaven, shining with the purity that Lucifer no longer had.

The Almighty took an interest in him. His kindness, his empathy was like a balm to the world, and in the eyes of the Almighty, he was the new favorite.

I always hated that part of the story.

Lucifer had been the Almighty’s chosen one, the angel who could do no wrong—until he saw another angel rise, another taking his place.

He couldn’t stand it. His jealousy, his rage, and his fear of losing the throne he had once ruled consumed him. The Angel of Kindness became his target.

One day, this angel ventured into Lucifer’s domain, and that was when everything changed.

That was the moment when everything turned from a rivalry into something darker. The hatred festered, grew, until it became something far more dangerous.

And then, in a flash of rage, Lucifer took the angel’s life.

I can’t even remember how many times I’ve heard the details. It always made my blood boil, the idea that Lucifer killed him just because he couldn’t stand losing his place.

But it wasn’t that simple, was it?

God, the Almighty, was incensed. The angels begged for Lucifer’s life, demanded it, but the Almighty… He was unpredictable.

He loved with a depth that no one could understand, and once his love was given, it was eternal. So, instead of destroying Lucifer as they had wanted, the Almighty cast him into a deep slumber.

A curse. A curse that only one thing could break. The only thing capable of awakening him: the Angel Of Kindness reincarnation.

That was it. That was the key.

The more I talked, the more I realized why some people thought the story was ridiculous. Dyvian stood there and I was unable to tell what he was thinking.

I could feel his surprise. He had come here thinking this was just about a key, an object, a trinket, a simple thing to find.

I could see the realization in his eyes, though, as the truth now hung heavy between us. He hadn’t known.

I didn’t expect him to.

He had assumed it was some material thing, something easy to find. I could see the confusion swirling in his mind, the question that sat on the edge of his tongue.

How could they find the reincarnation of an angel who was long dead? How could anyone even know where to begin?

He asked the question anyway. "How would they find the Angel? He’s already dead."

I sighed deeply.

“It’s simple, Dyvian.” My voice was calm, but underneath, I could feel the weight of the truth pulling at my insides. “They’ll have to find the reincarnation of that angel. The only key to Lucifer’s awakening.”

His eyes widened. I could tell he didn’t want to believe it, didn’t want to face the consequences of this truth. I understood his hesitation.

He had thought this was just another task—just another simple mission that would have an end. But now, he had to face the reality: everything was tied to this angel’s reincarnation.

His father would stop at nothing to find it. And when he did, when Lucifer was awakened…

The world would burn.

I looked at Dyvian, his face clouded with uncertainty. He hadn’t expected this. None of us had. We were all looking at the pieces of a puzzle that didn’t make sense.

“I didn’t think it would be like this,” Dyvian murmured, almost to himself. But I could hear the panic rising in his voice. “How can we find someone like that?”

“I don’t know,” I said softly. “But I have a feeling we don’t have much time.”

The fear that had gripped my heart from the beginning was now undeniable.

Lucifer’s awakening was no longer a possibility; it was a certainty. And once it happened, there would be no turning back.
