Chapter 39 039
Chapter 39 039
Lucien's pov
Once Ria was out of sight, I rose to my feet and started storming inside with my brothers following behind, it was obvious that they could feel my rage through the bond.
“What is it Brother?” Silas was the first to ask, I clenched my fist hard with my eyes shut. I finally came to a halt at the hallway where I was certain that we couldn't be heard.
When I opened my eyes to stare at him, my eyes were red and I was trying so hard to keep my rage in check.
“What happened?” I growled andvas i spoke, u realize my voice was too deep, making me realize that it was my wolf who was struggling to take over.
“What do you mean?” Dante asked as he exchange look with Silas who also looked confused like my question wasn't making any sense to them.
“We don't get you, what are you talking about?” Dante asked as he furrowed his brows.
“Don't you dare play that game with me, you know exactly what I am talking about. That was not the trial meant for today, someone had switched it and I want to know why?”
“I thought as much while reading through, but I thought you had made it he changes later during the night since you said you couldn't sleep”
“So you think that I would go ahead and change the Luna trial, something no Alpha had done before and then I would do it, without both your consent?”
My jaws tightened so hard it was starting to hurt, I could hear the sound of my heart raising and falling rapidly, the rage was building so intense that I might explode soon.
But Silas and Dante still looked confused, as if trying to put it he pieces together.
“If you didn't, I didn't and neither did Dante, them who would?” Silas asked and now, my anger was slowly replaced with confusion.
“Exactly. Its only the three of us that has the key to the safe where the rules for the trail was kept. No one is supposed to see or talk about it until the day, which I have kept to it, so we exactly went there?”
Dante pestered but we three became silent, like we were trying to crack our brain, but this was a delicate issue and no matter how much we cracked. I didn't see the answer coming.
“Dante!” I suddenly called after thinking about the situation for a while.
“Was the place locked when you went to get the scroll toady?” I asked Dante who lowers his head as if thinking about it for a short while before he raised his head to me.
“Yes. It was locked, I recall in detail that I inserted the key to it engine once I was there……”
“And you are sure you had locked it as soon as you were done?” Silas cut him off even before he was done speaking and he nodded his head.
“Yes, I am very certain about that. I had locked the door properly then came over with the scroll, how I'm the world could someone go in there”
“Did you catch any scent while you were there?” I continue to pester but it was clear that this was now turning to an interview.
“No, there was not a single flicker of scent, except for mine. I am very sure of that”
Dante let out a deep breathe as he caress his temple while Silas ran a finger through his now disheveled hair. It was clearly that frustration was starting to growl inside of them.
But somehow I was getting a hint of what was going on and since I wasn't so sure yet, I knew that I couldn't say anything to both my brothers yet.
“What are we going to do now, because clearly, she isn't going to survive it. There is no one that can go in there and come out alive, not with that vial we gave to her?”
Silas scrunched up his face, revealing his displeasure for what was going on as he stared at me, as if expecting me to come up with some sort of a miracle.
“There is nothing that anyone can do about it, right now I think it's better that way because that seems like a good way to break the mate bond”
“You don't understand, her death wouldn't break the mate bond but will only cause is more pain” Silas refuted immediately but Dante shook his head. Again countering his words as I watched the both of them.
“Yes. Her death would break the mate bond. I have asked the shaman of the pack and he clearly stated that if she end up dead, it would cause us so much pain for days, but at the end, it will break the mate bond”
He explained with so much certainty in his voice and this time, he couldn't conceal the fact that he badly wanted her gone.
When Ria first became our Luna, Dante seemed so smitten with her. Like he didn't want to stay away from her even for just a second and was always aroused each time she was close to us.
But now something had changed, it all started since he became close with Ria's maid Anna. I have no clue what is going on now, but there is no way that I am going to keep still about it.
“We can't just let her die. Why would you even suggest that, she is our mate” Silas spoke with determination in his voice.
“A mate whose father killed ours and she aided him in all of that, it looks like the both of you seemed to be forgetting that lately!”
Dante gritted his teeth. His eyes red like he was trying to lunge at Silas. But I was certain that this wasn't about our father, it never have been for Dante.
My thoughts drifted to the fact that as much as I have been planing to take over the pack and rule alone, he might have a separate plan. But whatever that is, I couldn't let Ria get hurt.
I let out a soft sigh and walk forward just in time to stop Silas from saying whatever he wanted to say.
“That is enough both of you. It's her fate now, no matter how much we argue, she is already at the ancient garden and there is nothing that any of us can do about it”
My words brought relief to Dante, Silas looked like he wanted to speak but held back. I turned around and started walking out of there.
I would definitely find out who had switch the trail, but before then, I have to save Ria even if I end up being the dead one.
