Lucien's pov

At first, I wanted to go after Ria, but it didn't seem like the best time for it, especially with Tracy right beside me.

When I stood to leave, Tracy immediately jumped up and followed me out of the dining hall.

"Alpha Lucien, wait," she called, hurrying to catch up.

I kept walking with an impatient frown on my face. "I told you I have things to do today, Tracy."

Tracy has always been a smart girl, knowing when I was in the mood for play and when I wasn't, she never pestered me, but today, she seemed different.

"I know, but..." She grabbed my arm and spun me around. "I am in heat. Can you not smell it? I need you."

Now that she mentioned it, I could smell the change in her scent. Sweet and cloying, designed to attract a mate.

Her hands slid up my chest and around my neck. "Please. It hurts so much. Just a few minutes That is all I need for you to put me out of my distress."

Her gaze was staring seductively at me, her hands caressing my chest but even with those tender hands trying to do magic on me, all that I could think of was Ria.

I grabbed her wrists and pulled her hands away from me. "No."

She blinked at me in confusion. "What?"

"I said no." I took a step back, putting distance between us. "You need to keep your distance from me from now on, Tracy."

Her mouth fell open. "But... but we have been together for months. You never had a problem with it before. What changed?"

Everything had changed, but I was not about to explain that to her.

“Nothing. I just have a lot going on now and wants to clear my head for now, we can continue this from where we stopped later on”

I spoke and started walking away again but her words made me come to a halt.

“Is it because of her?” She asked and I was fully aware of who she was talking about.

Tracy's face twisted with anger and hurt. "So that is it? You are just going to toss me aside because of her. You assured me that there would be nothing between you two. Lucien you swore you would get rid of Ria and be back to my side"

Her voice trembled, I could tell she was already fighting the tears.

“Tracy this has nothing to do with Ria”

“Oh please don't say that, of course it does. You always have a strong arousal and to imagine that you couldn't smell my wolf in heat until I told you goes as far to explain how distracted you are”

“Yes, I am distracted because I have a lot going on”

“No, that is not true. You are distracted because you have been thinking about her. I am not blind Lucien, I see the way you were looking at her”

“I don't know what you think you saw, but I was looking at her that way only because I was trying to figure out what she was planning”

Tracy scoffed, wiping a strain of tears from her eyes.

“I am not a kid Lucien, don't insult my knowledge with such explanations. I have stood by your side all this while, you promised me I would become the Luna once you took over and now Ria comes into the picture…..”

“Ria would leave the picture soon” I cut her off even though I knew those words were myself that I was trying to assure.

“Yeah, is that so? There was a time I would believe she would leave, I remember how furious you were as soon as you found out she was your mate. You hated her with passion and didn't want anything to do with her. But why does it look like everything is suddenly changing?”

Her eyes had turned red from crying. I walked up closer to her and let my hands wrapped around her.

“I know I made some silly promises to you, and trust me Tracy, I want to keep them. Ria is a distraction and I won't lie to you about the fact that she is truly messing with my head”

“Then let me help you get rid of her?”

“You know it's not easy”

“Yes it is. The Elders made everything easy, once she fails the trial, she would be left with no choice but to give up the secret on how to severe the bond and then you can part ways with her”

“What if she doesn't lose the trial?” I asked and Tracy immediately pulled away from my arms with a frustrating sigh.

“What the hell is wrong with you? How can you not want her to fail”

“That is not what I mean……”

“Yes you are no longer acting like the man that I knew. The Lucien who would do anything to have this throne and not share it with his brothers. Now you acting like her slave”

“Don't you dare speak to me in such a manner!” I growled and even though I didn't use my Alpha voice on her, the aura that emanated from me was still enough to make her take a few steps backwards as she lowered her head.

“I apologize” she was practically shivering and seeing her like that, it made me realize how wrong I was.

“I am sorry Tracy” I spoke softly and covered the space between us. “I know that I am acting like a dick today, truth be told I don't even know what is going on with me…..”

Tracy cut me off as her lips found their way to mine, she grabbed my head and began to kiss me, her tongue making those clingy sounds as she moaned.

I tried to pull away but her hands were already on my chest fiddling with my fingers, the scent of her arousal had already surrounded me.

I badly wanted to have it down with Tracy, but my wolf was already growling in my head.

Put your act together, we have a mate! He growled, he was right, I shouldn't do this to Ria, if she went through the pain, I was bond to also feel it and i just couldn't let her go through it alone.

“I am sorry Tracy” that was all that I could say as I Finally I drew the courage and pushed her away before storming out of there
