136. Say Thank You

136. Say Thank You
I held on tightly to Teddy, my mind felt like it was burning. All I wanted to do was rip into the insanity before me. The people in attendance glanced at Teddy and I, it was as if we were celebrities. I knew we were favored by Malachar, and they wanted the right hand positions that the two of us had. It made me want to rip their throats out.

“Force it down, soon” Is what I had to repeat in my head. My skin was crawling, I wanted to destroy them. Teddy didn’t stop to talk with anyone, not like he always did when we came to these things. But he did move around, maybe he was trying to buy time. Maybe it was because I couldn’t handle it or maybe it was something else. All I knew was that I wanted this place gone.

Finally Teddy led us into the main room and people parted, that is when I saw him, Malachar. His elongated distorted face was turned away, that was until he noticed the hushed whispers and he looked. His red eyes, eyes that matched my own turned to me. His lips pulled back, showing his elongated distorted smile.

Teddy was shielding my appearance, the crowd only saw what they always had, slightly red eyes, and just the tips of my fingers being black, my hair looked normal. His gift shielding me, so we could be here. Teddy and I continued to make our way toward evil incarnate. Teddy gave me a tight squeeze, was he trying to ground me? “My darling” Malachar said opening his arms and embracing me.

My body was ridged as he wrapped his arms around me in his uncharacterized hug. He shook Teddy’s hand. “Did you two come out of seclusion to tell me the good news, will the next Astor be running amongst us soon?” He asked. He was trying to be congenial, as if we were friends, or as he said, he thought of me as a daughter. “We will have to wait for her to test, but the chances are high.” Teddy lied to him.

Like I would willingly become pregnant while that monster was in charge. “Beatrix, you have not thanked me, for allowing you time off work. I know we have discussed how important having children is for you females, but I did expect at least a thank you for allowing you time with your husband. After all you never did have a proper honeymoon.” He didn’t really want a thank you, did he? “Well daughter?” Malachar said.

I couldn’t and wouldn’t thank him. I was hardly able to keep a grip on myself. I felt my fangs throb and static was rising in the room, as my power swelled. I turned to Teddy “I’m Sorry” I whispered and then I lunged.  My whole body rushed toward Malachar my nails ripped into his face, ripping the delicate flesh from him. I went to bite him, but I was thrown back roughly by his arms.

“You dare attack me girl!” His voice yelled, the blood dripped down his face, and I grabbed the nearest person, my throat was so dry. “don’t drink from her, Beatrix, you will dam yourself if you can’t finish her” I heard Teddy say in my head, where he was, I didn’t see him anymore. I knew that fucking rule.

I could bite other vampires, but if I drank, I either had to finish them off by draining or their life would be tied to mine and vise versa. Instead, I let her go and as Malachar watched, I reached into her chest and ripped her heart out. I looked at Malachar as I bit into her heart and then it clicked for him, what I had done. “KILL HER!”  Malachar screamed. I smiled, and it had to look similar to his because I noticed people wavered to move. “KILL HER, DAM IT!” He yelled again.

Then it was chaos. I knew better than to drink from people, unless I would drain them. I wouldn’t be linking my life to there's. I dropped the heart I held in my hand and as it plopped to the ground I let my hands down so my palms were parallel to the ground and let power flow out me. I ignored the screams of the vein bound. I noticed Malachar was trying to jump but nothing was happening. He wasn’t able to leave; I had thought I acted early but turns out I hadn’t.

Aiden had succeeded. He had done the ritual, correctly. Soon it seemed half the room was fighting the other. It was Teddy he was controlling Malachar’s men. Making them fight to the death, I smiled. He had used this tactic in the war, and he was doing it now. I looked and Malachar was nowhere. He hadn’t left this place he was somewhere though. I walked through the fighting, grabbing humans that were cowering. I would drag them as I drank from them.

I knew it was bad, the carnage that was befalling, but it mattered not. I would find the king of evil and he would die today. I left the room, my eyes searching for the monster. I glanced around noticing Baron, he was ripping someone’s wing off and I smiled at it. I heard my name called, but ignored it. I would find Malachar, his time was up. I ascended the stairs going upstairs in the manor house.

First checking the room, he had given me the dress in. Inside I found two people, whom I drained, they did nothing to quench my thirst for blood. I went room by room, checking and killing everyone hiding in them. No one would survive this night. I was going to destroy every person who was unlucky enough to be part of Malachar’s regime, innocent or not. They were going to die, and I was going to ensure it.

I could hear the screaming downstairs, the manor was shaking with fighting. But my mind was made up, it had a narrowed with one objection. As I reached the top floor and cleared it. There was no Malachar. Had he fled to the garden? There was no attic so it had to be. The ritual gave a fifty mile radius from the house that laid no jumping, or escape. I looked out the window, and that is when I saw him. The coward had fled to the center of his maze in the back.
