Chapter 86 REUNION 2
Chapter 86 REUNION 2
Derek's POV
A part of me actually wanted to leave the house before Iris would lose her mind. But then, she looked more relaxed as her mom stood frozen in time.
Her father was doing the same thing. Like he didn't know how to react. I watched as his hands shook. He didn't know what to do. Iris's mom didn't know what to do either.
Iris look over at her dad with a small smile on her lips.
“Aren't you going to hug each other?” Iris asked, pulling them out of whatever trance they were in.
There was a smile on her father's face, and he finally walked over to his wife, carrying her up, and practically turning her around in the air.
It was more than perfect, watching them like that.
Her mother giggled, and Iris had her hands clasped together. Garrett stepped forward, and I allowed him. I was the one always around Iris. I could at least allow her get to feel his touch.
She wasn't marked by either us, but I knew that I wanted to sink my teeth into her neck.
Her father finally dropped her mom down, and opened his arms like he wanted Iris to walk in, and join them. She didn't hesitate. He wrapped his arms around the both of them, before he finally looked up, noticing both me and Garrett.
“Aren't the both of you going to come in?” He asked, and I didn't hesitate to walk right through the door, sitting down on one of the chairs. Garrett did the same thing.
It felt… complete.
Iris' mom turned to look at us. “You know, they were the ones that gave Iris the energy to save me.”
I cocked an eyebrow. The pack had always told little children that she was mad. I could only hope that none of it was true. Because how the fuck was she switching up so quickly?
I looked over at Garrett, and he had the same confused look on his face.
I was glad to know that I wasn't the only one feeling that way.
“Well,” Iris' dad said, looking at his wife and child like he still couldn't believe that he had them right in front of him. “I just made breakfast. If the both of you don't mind, you can join us.”
I was fucking starving, and more than glad to join them. Garrett was the one that hesitated just a bit.
It didn't matter.
He was still part of the family somehow. Even if he was a member of another pack.
For just a second, I saw Owen sitting on the other side. It was just an imagination, but I didn't need anybody to tell me just how much Iris would have liked that.
She still had the creature inside her, and I knew she was terrified—terrified she might lose control or lash out in front of him. Or the other students.
Being overwhelmed was the only thing that made her lose her mind like that.
And I could only imagine that, that was what was happening with her.
“Is everything okay?” I asked her, as she sat down beside me on the table. She gave me a small nod, before she gave me her hand to hold.
She was shaking so badly, and I wished that I could even calm her down.
But there was no way I could do that while we were both sitting at the table.
Calming her down might just have to do with parting her legs.
My wolf seemed to grin at the thought of that.
It would have been more than a pleasure.
Her father served the food, and the dining table was silent, as we started eating. That was when Iris' father looked up at Iris, and I didn't miss the tears that he had in his eyes.
“They're not going to do anything to you, are they?” He asked, and Iris frowned.
“What are you talking about?” She asked in a whisper.
“You know, they aren't going to ask you to go back to the pack. Are they?” I could feel the fear in his voice. Not only hear it.
Michelle reached over, holding his hand like she was trying to console him already even if something like that happened.
“I don't care,” Iris said, and I couldn't help but look over at her. I could see her needs written all over her. She really wanted that normal life. And I was genuinely scared that she wasn't going to have it as well.
“You can't say that,” Garrett said calmly. “There's no telling what these people are going to ask for next.
“And I genuinely do not care.” She answered again. “They would have to come and drag me away before I would go with them. Besides, I'm happy here. Why would anyone want to put an end to all that joy?
I could feel the pain written all over her.
“There's no telling what they want,” her father said. “Especially not Mr. Nashe.”
All eyes were on me at the table, and I couldn't help but feel small.
Iris' hands tightened over mine. She looked at me like she didn't mind whatever her father just said, and I wasn't supposed to mind it either.
I liked the idea of just pretending.
But this was real life. And I knew just what everybody thought about my father. And trust me, they were all awful thoughts. There was barely anybody that actually liked him for who he was, and I couldn't even blame them.
I wasn't going to be shocked either if we found out later on, that he was already in talks on how to bring Iris back to the pack.
I knew that he was connected to the pack somehow, but I didn't know how I was supposed to prove that it was all a lie.
I mean, the Alpha was killed like he was nothing, and I was just supposed to keep smiling? How was that even possible?
Either way, I was there at that table, and I didn't know how things were supposed to go. I just wanted to be good regardless.
I didn't have much of a choice.
