Chapter 80 BACK HOME

Chapter 80 BACK HOME
IRIS' POV

I didn't know how I was supposed to react to everything, but it didn't even matter that much at that point. Because I was at the back seat, and Derek was in front, driving. While Garrett was right beside me, with a hand on my thigh.

My head was rested on the velvety seat. And I couldn't deny the fact that I seemed to get all tensed up whenever Garrett moved away from me.

A part of me wanted all the comfort from him. But at the same time, it felt like I was going to get them exhausted. I didn't want any of that. Not when they have been every bit of support that I could ask for.

“Are you okay?” Derek asked from the front seat for what seemed like the umpteenth time.

“Yes,” I whispered back, and he gave me a small nod, like he was trying to believe me.

“I can't come into your house with you,” Garrett said, and I couldn't deny the fact that I had been expecting that statement the whole time. I knew that Mr. Nashe and his pack were still pretty much enemies.

Especially after what happened with the whole set-up thing. I couldn't even see a reconciliation in the stars for them.

“I know that,” I whispered, and he took my hands in his, squeezing slightly.

“You're going to be fine,” he was saying, but Derek already turned back.

“I'm here with her. Trust me, I'll take care of her better than the both of us would, together.” Derek said.

“Maybe you can do a better job at paying attention to the road,” Garrett said, and I couldn't help but bring a hand to my head. The both of them were slowly going back to being enemies, and I didn't even know how I was supposed to feel about that.

Although, it didn't change the fact that the both of them practically came together to take care of me. The one thing that I never thought I would see them do.

My heart was already in my mouth as Derek drove into the house.

I was more than worried about him going back that house after everything that happened between him and his father in the last month. But at the same time, he didn't even look worried about it. Like all this was normal, and he was just waiting for it to play out.

My mom was supposed to be brought to the human world a few days from now.

“We're here,” Derek finally said, and I turned to look at Garrett.

“How will you get home?” I asked., and he shrugged.

“I'll find my way home somehow. It's normal at this point.”

I gave him a small nod. It was hard to believe that I wasn't going to get back into anymore supernatural things for the next month.

I couldn't say that I wasn't glad.

Before I could even say anything else, Garrett slammed his lips against mine, and I felt a tiny moan escaped my lips. His hands found my hair, pulling me even closer.

Before I knew what was happening, my hands were against his shirt, slowly curling into a fist.

“It can't be that good,” Derek groaned. “Come on. We need to leave.”

I slowly pulled away from the kiss.

Derek didn't complain. Was this something that the both of them had talked about?

“Slow down, girl,” I heard Lara say, and I couldn't even blame her. I had kissed three men ever since the engagement was set up.

The engagement.

A lot had happened, that I didn't even think about that anymore. My engagement ring was somewhere in my cupboard. It was hard to even believe that it was going to happen anymore.

I took a deep breath as the three of us got out of the car.

Garrett walked towards me, placing a kiss on my forehead.

“You'll do just fine. Remember you can call me if you need anything.”

I gave him a small kiss, and I watched him leave the estate.

Derek pulled me towards him. “Did it feel good?” He asked, and I frowned, looking over at him.

“What are you talking about?”

“Kissing Garrett.”

“It did,” I said, and I looked at his face for any changes in expressions. There was none.

The both of us finally walked into the house, and it felt more than weird to be back. I noticed the way the maids were scrambling around the house.

Something was definitely wrong.

And all my doubts were confirmed the second we both stepped into the living room.

Mr. Nashe was standing there, with his head cocked to the side.

“You finally decided to return back home?” He asked, looking between me and Derek.

Derek looked away, and I was sure as hell that he wasn't going to give his father an answer.

“I'm very sure that you've been aware of everything going on at the pack,” I said, and his smirk only grew.

“Of course,” he answered. “I've heard just how much you've been playing super hero. Are you done now?”

The creature threatened to lunge forward, but I held it back. I couldn't even help the smile that escaped my lips. I was the bigger person in this room. And I had something that could practically tear him into pieces. That was one thing that I couldn't forget.

“We came back to stay. And I remember you telling my dad that you were going to take care of me. Are you going to go against your words?”

I noticed the way he seemed to take a step back. That was enough to make me smile.

But this was just the beginning. He has been taking advantage of Derek this whole time. And I wasn't going to just stand there and watch it happen.

I took a step towards him, cocking my head to the side.

“You're going to stay in this house, and you aren't going to do anything that would hurt Derek. Understood?”

He didn't even blink, and I didn't care. Without a word more, I grabbed Derek's hand, leading him upstairs. He was silent the whole time, and it hurt something in me.

It didn't matter now. I was there for him. Nothing else mattered.
