Chapter 75 THE FIRST COMMAND
Chapter 75 THE FIRST COMMAND
IRIS' POV
For the first time, the vessel lunged, and I could feel the earth shake.
But I didn't flinch. A part of me was scared. I didn't know what was in control. It might have been Lara, but I practically had two powerful creatures right beside me.
I raised a hand to the air instead. “Stop,” I said, and the words suddenly felt a little too heavy on my tongue.
The creature behind me didn't even hesitate to slam itself into the vessel mid sir. It was almost like it was risking its existence because of me. Just the way Ragner was willing to do for me.
The crash was so silent that it cracked the courtyard stone beneath us.
What the hell?
I could feel the impact right through my chest. It was almost like to was Lara trying to claw her way out, but this time, I was sure as hell that she wasn't the one.
It was something else.
The creature didn't just stop there. It was doing everything that it could to make sure the vessel was thrown down to the floor. I could feel it in every single way. Through the bond that I had with it.
Every single movement. Every single strike. The fact that I was doing everything without barely moving was just more fascinating.
It wasn't just fighting for me. It was fighting with me.
Derek and Garrett were still beside me, so I could hear everything that they were both saying.
“If that isn't the perfect answer, I don't know what else it is,” Derek said, and I could even hear the tiredness in his voice.
Garrett was so focused, it was intriguing. “She’s controlling it,” he said calmly, as he watched.
The surviving guards were still doing their thing, trying to hold off the hunters. Rage was slowly flooding through my veins. Some strangers thought that they could just come into my pack, and act like they owned the place?
The creature took some time to recover, but the vessel was already weak, so I let it.
As soon as it was okay again, I made it charge towards the vessel.
“Again,” I said, and it was striking back with brutal efficiency.
As it struck again, I could feel the rhythm this time. “Left,” I ordered, and the creature moved to the left perfectly. In the most perfect way.
The vessel stumbled even more than before, and I could feel a smile threaten to spill from my lips. “Again,” I said, and it did just that.
My voice was steady as I said the words again. The vessel faltered, and that was when it hit me. I could actually put an end to this.
I was no longer reacting. I was controlling, and I could feel it all over me. I loved the feeling more than anything.
I could feel the air of the battlefield change, and Ragner immediately stepped forward. It was almost like there were two ancient powers, right at my side. And I controlled each one.
The hunters immediately looked up, and their eyes widened at the sight of Ragner.
“Fall back,” one of them said, and I almost gave him a pathetic smile.
It was too late.
I took a step forward.
“Finish them,” I said. Even I was barely able to recognize my voice. My voice sounded so fucking cold. “Don't let them leave.”
I could feel Garrett stiffen at my side, but I didn't even care at that point.
Ragner and the creature moved at the same time, and the hunters tried to retreat. Even the vessel tried.
As I raised my hand and closed my palm, the creature hit the vessel so hard that it ended up on the floor. My eyes were narrowed into slits.
The ground seemed to shake as the vessel ended up on the floor.
Derek was at my side immediately. His hand was extended, but he thought better about it, and just stood there. For the first time, I didn't want anybody to touch me. Especially not the two men that I had in my lives.
A part of me couldn't wait for things to go back to normal, to go back to school, and be among the humans. But something in my head kept telling me that I was built for this life.
That this, was exactly what I was supposed to be doing.
But it felt so wrong at the same time.
I couldn't even wrap my head around the whole thing.
Garrett exhaled slowly as he looked over at me.
“The war is over. It's finally over.”
I looked towards the main gate of the pack, where the hunters were running towards, as they were turning back to look at me. People were stumbling over each other. A part of it gave me peace. Gave me joy.
The fear in their eyes. It sent a different kind of thrill through my body.
The last thing I was raised on, was fear. Hell, I wasn't even brought up to respect my father. I just did it naturally. And when he sold me off to the Nashes, everything seemed to come to an end.
As I turned to look at Garrett, I could see that something had changed about the way he looked at me. He looked at me like he was studying me. Like he was trying to figure out what I was going to do next. And I wanted to tell him that he was wrong about any thoughts he was about to have. I didn't even know where I was getting the idea for the thoughts that I was having, but a part of me liked it. I liked whatever was in control.
As I turned to look at the hunters making their way out again, I glanced at Ragner and the creature, and then back at them.
My next order was barely heavy on my lips as I said my next words.
“Finish it.”
