Chapter 65 Weird obsession

Chapter 65 Weird obsession
Chapter 065

RAVENNA

Music pounded through the walls of the building, bass so heavy I could feel it vibrating through my chest.

Lights flashed through the windows in colours of blue and purple and red.

People were already spilling out onto the street, laughing and shouting and clearly having a good time.

As soon as I stepped inside and took in the scene before me, I felt genuinely relaxed for the first time in days.

The energy was infectious, bodies moving together on the dance floor, drinks flowing freely, conversations happening in every corner.

Dorian looked around with a sad expression on his face, and I knew he was wishing Samantha was here to see this with him.

But he forced a smile and turned to me. "Let us try to enjoy ourselves tonight, yeah?"

"Absolutely," I agreed enthusiastically.

He disappeared into the crowd and returned a few minutes later with drinks for both of us.

The liquid was dark and looked suspiciously strong. I took a sip and immediately grimaced at the bitter taste that burned down my throat.

"This is awful," I coughed out, making a face.

Dorian laughed, clearly amused by my reaction. "I know, but it does the job. Want to make it interesting?"

"What do you mean?"

"A competition," he suggested with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Who can drink it the fastest despite it being absolutely disgusting."

I grinned at the challenge. "You are on."

We both tilted our glasses back and downed the bitter liquid as fast as we could, neither of us willing to lose.

My throat burned and my eyes watered, but I refused to stop until the glass was empty.

When we both finished, we were laughing and coughing at the same time.

After catching our breath, Dorian asked, "Want to dance with me?"

"Sure," I agreed easily.

As we made our way to the dancing floor, weaving through the crowd of swaying bodies, I suddenly caught sight of someone familiar.

My breath caught in my throat. Darius was standing near the back wall looking absolutely miserable whilst a girl tried desperately to flirt with him.

She was leaning into his space, touching his arm, laughing too loudly at things that probably were not funny, but he looked completely bored and uninterested in anything she had to say.

I could not help myself. I shoved Dorian playfully and made a loud teasing comment about Darius and his unfortunate admirer, projecting my voice so it would carry across the room.

His head snapped up immediately, as if he had heard every single word despite the pounding music.

Our eyes met across the crowded room, and the intensity in his gaze made my stomach flip.

Dorian laughed beside me, clearly enjoying this. "He heard you loud and clear, Ravenna. His wolf must be on high alert."

"How sharp is his hearing exactly?" I asked curiously, genuinely wanting to know.

"Very sharp," Dorian replied with a knowing smile. "He is an Alpha, remember? They can hear a pin drop in a thunderstorm if they want to."

An idea formed in my mind, wicked and probably stupid, but I could not resist.

I began swaying my body to the music, making sure to keep eye contact with Darius from across the room.

His expression darkened immediately, his jaw clenching so hard I could see the muscle ticking even from this distance.

I smirked at him and deliberately took Dorian's hands, placing them around my waist in a way that looked far more intimate than it actually was.

Dorian leaned forward, his mouth close to my ear so I could hear him over the music. "What exactly are you trying to do here, Ravenna?"

"Teaching Darius how to be romantic," I replied sweetly, batting my eyelashes innocently.

Dorian's grin widened into something absolutely delighted. "I live for the look on his face right now. He looks like he is about to murder someone, possibly me."

He played along beautifully, moving closer and making our dance look even more seductive by caressing my waist and pulling me against him.

We moved together to the rhythm of the music, and I could practically feel Darius's fury radiating across the room like heat from a fire.

Then Darius completely lost his composure. He pushed the girl who had been flirting with him away so roughly that she staggered backwards several steps, clearly taken by surprise and hurt by his sudden rejection.

But Darius did not even glance at her or offer an apology.

His entire focus was locked on me and Dorian as he stormed across the dance floor like a man possessed.

He reached us in seconds and physically shoved Dorian away from me with enough force to make Dorian stumble. "Go find some humans to be with and leave my friend alone," Darius snarled at me, his voice dripping with venom and something else I could not quite identify.

"Darius, stop this right now," Dorian tried to intervene, reaching out to place a calming hand on his friend's shoulder.

But Darius was beyond reason. He smirked at me, but there was no humour in it, only cold anger. "If you are going to act like a whore to my friend, then you can be one to me too."

Before I could process what he meant or react in any way, he grabbed my arm and pulled me forward forcefully.

I fell against his chest, my hands landing flat against the hard planes of his torso.

My eyes went wide with shock, my lips parting in a surprised gasp as I looked up at him.

His arms came around me immediately, one hand settling possessively on my lower back whilst the other took my hand in his.

His grip was firmly, holding me so close I could feel the heat radiating off his body and smell the scent of pine and something uniquely him.

"We should dance," he growled low in his throat, his eyes flashing with that dangerous golden colour that meant his wolf was close to the surface.

And then he twirled me around forcefully, spinning me in a circle that made the room blur around us.
