Chapter 205 Mate iN TROUBLE

Chapter 205 Mate iN TROUBLE
Chapter 205

RAVENNA

I stared at her, my heart pounding so hard I could feel it in my throat.

"What are you doing here?" My voice came out sharper than I intended. "And how did you even know this was my house?"

Asteria laughed, the sound light and mocking. "You weren't really that hard to find, big sister."

I clenched my fists at my sides. "What do you want? Talk fast, or I'm ordering the guards to throw you out."

She laughed again, and I frowned at her, anger simmering beneath my skin.

"I've heard the news circulating," she said casually, like we were discussing the weather. "Well, not news. Rumours about the wave that occurred last night and who caused it."

She stepped closer, her eyes glinting with something dark and bitter.

"So you're the MoonWolf." Her voice dropped lower, colder. "All my life, I've dreamt of having Darius as my mate and having the power of the MoonWolf. And you just came out of nowhere and took it from me."

My chest tightened, fury building inside me like a storm about to break.

"I begged you to come to the academy," she continued, her voice rising now. "I begged you to make sure Darius paid for dumping me. But instead, you came here and fell in love with him."

I stepped forward, my voice shaking with rage. "Are you listening to yourself at all? Darius never did anything wrong! He found out you weren't his mate and cut off the relationship because it was meaningless to him!"

I ran my hand through my hair, my breathing harsh. "You lied to me!"

My voice broke on the last word, and tears burned at the corners of my eyes.

"I trusted you!" I yelled, my hands trembling. "I abandoned my life because I believed you! I enrolled in a werewolf school to avenge a man who was innocent all along! And when I found out you were taking this too far—when people started dying—when I refused to keep acting, what did you do?"

I stepped closer, my voice dropping to a whisper that was somehow more furious than my yelling. "You betrayed me in front of everyone. You nearly had me murdered."

Asteria just stared at me, her expression unreadable.

I felt something break inside me.

"I hate you," I whispered, tears spilling down my cheeks now. "I hate that you're my blood. Because no real sister would do this to her own family."

I pointed toward the door, my hand shaking. "Pack yourself and leave my house the same way you came."

She looked at me and scoffed.

I took a shaky breath, forcing the words out. "I don't want to ever have anything to do with you. You can go to hell for all I care. Until you apologize properly for what you did, you're not my sister anymore."

Asteria shrugged, her expression cold. "I'll never apologize to you. So consider us disowned not blood sisters."

"Get the fuck out of my house!" I screamed, my voice cracking.

She smiled cruely.

"You stole everything from me," she said quietly. "The family I was supposed to have. The father who was supposed to love me. The good things in life. My man."

She paused, her eyes locking onto mine. "And because of that, I'll take everything from you. And leave you in despair."

I turned to the guards standing nearby. "Get this mad girl out of my house. And under no circumstances are you to allow her in here again. Or you're fired."

They grabbed her arms immediately and started dragging her away.

She didn't struggle. She just kept smiling at me.

When she was finally gone, I let out a shaky breath and turned to Sam.

She was staring at me, her eyes wide with worry. "Did she mean that?"

I nodded slowly. "She did. But I'll be ready for whatever she tries."

We went to the Council meeting the next day.

The Council chamber was ancient. There were stone walls, high ceilings, the air thick with the smell of dust and something old.

The Council comprised of eight wolf elders: four elderly men and four elderly women, sitting around a long table like judges.

My father and Torren accompanied me inside. The rest stayed outside.

One of the men leaned forward, his expression grave. "We'll go straight to the point. After the wave that occurred last night, something that hasn't happened in many years, we checked our old records. And we've deduced that you are a MoonWolf."

He paused, his eyes boring into mine. "Is that true?"

I looked at my father. He nodded at me.

I swallowed hard and turned back to the Council. "I had just discovered what that means and what I am."

The men looked at the women elders, and their expressions turned even more grave.

One of them spoke, her voice cold. "MoonWolves are not welcomed or allowed among werewolves. We believe they are disasters. They could destroy the entire supernatural world, just like before."

My father stepped forward immediately, his voice firm. "Just because there have been two occasions of them losing control doesn't mean my daughter will do that."

One of the male elders shook his head. "We don't know what powers this wolf holds. She could wake up one day and decide to take our lives."

My father's jaw clenched. "I haven't lived with her for long enough to argue extensively. But I can vouch she would never take a life."

One of the women elders looked at me directly. "What about the real reason you went to the academy? And the chaos she caused there?"

I stood up slowly, my hands trembling. "None of the wars that happened were my fault."

The woman raised an eyebrow. "Is that so? Because I recall you dropped videos that led to a feud between two of the most powerful packs. Both sides accused each other of trying to ruin the other."

I sighed, my chest tightening.

She was right. There was no way I could argue this case.

I looked up at her, forcing myself to meet her eyes. "I didn't know the real truth about what I was doing. I didn't know Darius was innocent. I didn't know my sister was lying."

The Council members exchanged glances.

I continued, my voice breaking slightly. "I agreed I came for revenge but I regretted everything. And I saved the school during the last rogue attack. I have no will to hurt anyone with these new powers."

They didn't believe me. I could see it in their faces.

One of them said it out loud. "We don't believe you."

My father stepped forward again, his voice low and dangerous. "What's it going to be, then?"

He paused, his eyes flashing. "Because I'm ready to fight. And I'm ready to give up my life if you attack my daughter."

The elders looked at each other for a long moment.

Finally, one of the women spoke. "We won't be doing anything to you. Since you haven't exhibited a killing attitude with your powers. But for now, we'll be watching you. And taking notes on your behaviour."

My father sighed in relief and nodded.

The elders continued. "You'll need to be taken to your healer regularly to monitor your condition."

My father pointed at Torren. "He's her healer."

They nodded. "Then he'll give us weekly feedback about how her powers progress."

My father's expression darkened. "That won't be possible."

One of the elders leaned forward. "It's either that, or we have her locked up here to monitor her ourselves."

My father's entire body went rigid, his hands clenching into fists. He looked like he was about to explode.

"It's fine," I said quickly, placing a hand on his arm. "If they want the data, Torren can send it to them."

My father looked at me, then back at the Council. He sneered at them before taking my hand and pulling me toward the door.

Torren followed silently behind us.

We were quiet all through the ride home.

Just as we drove for a while, my body tingled.

And then I heard it. The buzzing sound.

My eyes widened, panic flooding through me.

Before I could say a word, my eyes glazed over and my body froze.

When I opened my eyes, I was standing in a beautiful estate.

I didn't get to see the surroundings properly before I noticed the fire.

Flames were everywhere, licking up the walls, consuming everything.

I was confused, disoriented. "What am I doing here?"

Then I saw Martina.

She was crying, wailing, her hands covering her face.

I looked closer.

Richard was trying to get into the house, screaming Darius's name over and over.

Realization slammed into me like a freight train.

Darius was caught in the fire inside the house.

There was a violent shake, and I gasped.

My body started convulsing, trembling uncontrollably. It's like a current biting into me. I was disconnected from the vision and real life.

I could hear panic around me. Someone was screaming my name repeatedly.

Something cool dropped into my mouth. It's like metal, anchoring me back to earth.

When I opened my eyes, I was staring into Torren's eyes.

"What did you see?" he asked urgently.

I gasped, my chest heaving, my eyes wide with terror.

"My mate," I choked out. "My mate is in big trouble."
