Chapter 192 Vision of Death
Chapter 192
RAVENNA
The door burst open.
I looked up, my eyes still red and swollen from crying, and saw Sam standing in the doorway.
Her expression was furious. "What's the meaning of what you did to Darius?"
Then she actually looked at me.
Her anger drained away in an instant, replaced by concern so sudden and intense it made my chest ache.
She rushed to my side, her arms wrapping around me before I could say anything, pulling me close against her chest.
"Are you okay?" Her voice was soft now, gentle. "What's wrong?"
I pulled back slightly, my hands trembling. "Is Darius angry?"
Sam's expression softened even more. "He's not angry. He's just… gloomy. Sad. When we asked what was wrong, he said you spoke badly to him and sent him out of the room."
Guilt twisted in my stomach so sharply I thought I might be sick.
I hugged her tightly, burying my face in her shoulder, unable to say anything.
She patted my back gently. "You're going to be fine."
I stood up slowly, wiping my face, and continued cleaning the room.
Sam watched me for a moment, then spoke quietly. "Are you not staying with Darius anymore?"
I paused, my hands stilling on the cloth I was holding.
"I need my personal space right now," I said quietly. "So, I'm staying here. You can stay with Dorian if you want, but it's risky if the authorities find out."
Sam was quiet for a long moment.
Then she nodded. "I'll stay here with you."
I finished cleaning up and headed toward the door, took the potion Torren gave me and head out to grab food from Angela's.
That's when I felt it.
A loud, high-pitched buzzing sound exploded in my ears.
I gasped, stumbling, my hands flying up to cover my ears but it didn't stop. I groaned, falling to my knees, pressing my palms harder against my ears like I could block it out.
“Moonlight!” I called desperately in my mind.
But she was in pain too. I could feel her whimpering, writhing, just as confused and terrified as I was.
And then suddenly, the buzzing stopped. Everything went silent. I stilled, my breath catching in my throat.
My eyes went wide, my body frozen.
I wasn't in the school compound anymore.
I was standing in the woods.
But these woods looked different. The trees were thicker, older, their branches twisted and gnarled.
I looked down to see another me but in my wolf form and I was running fast. My paws pounded against the earth, leaves and branches flying past me in a blur but I wasn't running for fun.
I was running because something was chasing me.
I turned behind me not after hearing snarls, footsteps, the sound of bodies crashing through the undergrowth. Three large wolves and men in human form were chasing after me. Five of them spreading out, cutting off my escape routes. I could feel the panic that surged through me even though I was just standing and watching and my other me was the one running.
I pushed harder, faster, my lungs burning but the wolves were faster.
They caught up and the first one lunged at me from the side, teeth snapping. I dodged and bit down hard on its neck, tasting blood. It yelped and fell back.
The second one came at me from the other side. I twisted and clawed at its face, my claws raking across its eyes. It howled in pain and staggered away.
But the third wolf was stronger, bigger and his build was like an Alpha. He slammed into me headfirst, his skull crashing into mine with brutal force.
Pain exploded through my head before the other me fell, her body hitting the ground hard. I tried to get up, my legs shaking— A net fell over me.
I snarled, thrashing, trying to break free but the net was too strong.
The wolves I’d injured shifted into their human forms and the other humans came around closing in around me. One of the men stepped forward, holding an iron rod.
He pressed it against my skin. The other me howled out in pain. And me, the pain crashed into me, it’s unlike anything I'd ever felt tore through me.
The other me wolf form flickered. I tried to hold it, tried to stay shifted, but my body wouldn't obey. The other me shifted back to human form, naked and gasping on the ground. She tried to shift again and again but it was useless.
The iron had done something to her, probably poisoned and weakened her.
They raised their weapons.
Me and the other me shifted back, terrified, my body curling in on itself—
Someone shook me.
"Ravenna! Ravenna!"
I groaned, my eyes snapping open.
Darius.
He was kneeling beside me, his hands on my shoulders, his eyes wide with fear.
"Thank the goddess," he breathed, pulling me into his arms. "I thought you were dead."
He kissed my cheeks, my forehead, his hands trembling. I just stared at him, dazed, my mind still tangled in the vision.
What the hell had just happened?
Was that real?
Was I going to be attacked?
Was I going to be killed?
But why?
Darius pulled back, his expression shifting to hurt. "Are you still angry at me? You won't even talk to me now?"
I blinked, forcing myself to focus. "Something strange just happened to me."
He helped me up gently, his hands steady on my arms. "What happened?"
I opened my mouth to tell him. Then I remembered Torren's warning: Don't tell anyone.
I closed my mouth and looked away.
Darius sighed heavily, his shoulders sagging. "You're not going to tell me, are you?"
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
He nodded, but his expression was off. Hurt flashed across his face even though he tried so hard to hide it.
He stood and helped me to my feet. "Can you walk? Where were you going?"
"Angela's," I replied quietly. "But I want to go back to my room now."
We walked back in silence.
He kept staring at me, his eyes searching my face like he was trying to understand.
But I couldn't look at him.
He stopped at my door.
"Sam told me you wanted your personal space," he said quietly. "I'm not going to bother you. But you should know I'm always here if you want to talk."
He kissed my forehead gently. "I love you," he whispered.
Then he turned and walked down the hall.
A tear slipped down my cheek.
I went inside, grabbed a notebook, and wiped my tears quickly.
I wrote down everything I had seen in the vision. Every detail.
Then I called out to Moonlight.
Silence.
I called again.
She grumbled low in response, clearly exhausted.
"Did you feel that?" I asked quietly.
She was quiet for a long moment.
Then, finally: “Yes. It was a vision. And it's real.”
I gasped, my hand flying to my mouth.
I fell onto the bed, my chest heaving.
I was going to be attacked? How the hell am I supposed to defend myself?
For the rest of the days leading up to the festival, I was in constant panic.
I looked over my shoulder everywhere I went; checked every shadow, watched every person who came near me.
Moonlight had told me the vision didn't necessarily mean I would be attacked in the woods. It could happen anywhere and anytime.
Darius had asked me a million times if I wanted to run with him.
I refused every time.
Our relationship was strained now broken in a way I didn't know how to fix. I could see it in the way Theo, Sam, and Dorian looked at me.
They thought I was the bad person and maybe I was. If only they knew what I was going through.
I had more visions after that: one in my bathroom, my dream and during training. In all of them, Darius appeared at the end rescuing me and bringing me back to earth
He seemed to be everywhere now, doing nothing but watching and following me even though he was trying so hard to give me space.
The day of the festival finally arrived.
Darius had left early that morning, leaving Dorian to accompany us later in the evening when the festival would be at its peak.
I dressed in the blue gown we had bought from the boutique. I braided my hair into two thick sections and left some strands loose to frame my face. I put on the jewelry and a little makeup.
I grabbed my bag and my shoes. Then I felt the buzzing sound again.
No.
No, no, no.
I panicked, my hands shaking. “Please don't happen. Not now.”
I stilled almost immediately and my eyes snapped open. All I could see was bright light blinding and overwhelming.
And there’re scattered wolves, bodies torn apart and blood everywhere.
A body flew at me—
I screamed and snapped out of the vision, gasping, my hand clutching my chest.
"Oh moon goddess, what is wrong with me?"
I sighed and stepped out of my room and walked to the car park. Sam and Dorian had said they would wait for me there. I wondered why they hadn't come to my room.
Were they avoiding me too?
Someone grabbed my waist from behind.
Instinct took over and I grabbed the hand immediately, twisted it hard, and wrapped my other hand around the person's neck.
It was Darius.
I let go immediately, stumbling back. Oh Moon Goddess!
He looked at me, his eyes wide, and stepped back too. "What the hell is wrong with you, Raven?"
He looked terrified of me.
