Chapter 128 The Broadcast

Chapter 128 The Broadcast
Chapter 128

DARIUS

It had not been long into class when I noticed the empty seats. Caleb's usual spot was vacant. So was Ravenna's. And Selene's.

I stared at Ravenna's empty chair, my jaw clenching involuntarily.

She never missed class. Never. She was always here, always finding ways to prove she was better than me. Whether it was answering questions faster, scoring higher on tests, or just showing up when I did not. The classroom was one of her favourite battlegrounds.

So where was she?

A thought struck me like a punch to the gut. Maybe she was with Caleb. Both of them were missed..

I tried to ignore the jealousy burning in my chest. I tried to focus on the professor's lecture. I tried to convince myself I did not care what Ravenna was doing or who she was with.

But I had never felt this kind of feeling before. This possessive, consuming jealousy over a woman being with another man. It was new territory for me, and I was finding it impossible to navigate.

I could not talk to her about it without sounding exactly like the asshole she had painted me to be. I could not tell her to stay away from Caleb without explaining why. And I could not explain why without revealing the mate bond.

Everything was messy. Complicated.

Beside me, Dorian's phone pinged.

He pulled it out and checked the notification. His eyes widened immediately.

Then he looked up at me. The expression on his face made my blood run cold.

Pity. Sadness. Something that looked almost like grief.

"Why the hell are you staring at me like you just lost something precious?" I demanded.

Dorian swallowed hard. "You need to check the Revenge account. There is a live stream going on right now. You need to see it."

"I do not care about—"

"Darius." His voice was urgent. Serious. "Check it. Now."

I was going to ignore him. I was going to focus on class and forget about whatever nonsense was being posted online.

But then I grabbed my phone and saw I had notifications too. My phone had been on silent, so I had not heard them come through.

I opened the Revenge account.

A live stream was active. Thousands of people were already watching.

I clicked on it.

The video loaded and I found myself staring at a hotel room. A bed with two people sitting on it.

Selene and Caleb.

My breath caught in my throat.

Around me, I heard other students pulling out their phones. Whispers started spreading through the classroom like wildfire.

"Is that Selene?"

"Who is she with?"

"That is Caleb Nightshade!"

"Are they—"

On the screen, Selene was talking. Her voice came through clearly on my phone's speaker.

The classroom erupted. Students were pointing at their phones. Some had turned up the volume. Selene's voice echoed across the room from multiple devices.

""And then I marry you. My real love. We will have everything we ever wanted."."

""There is a reason poisons exist, my love. I plan to use Belladonna poison. I will add it to his food little by little after we are married. Just small amounts. Enough that it will kill him slowly over months. His wolf will not be able to detect it if the portions are small enough and spaced out properly."

My hands were shaking. The phone nearly slipped from my grip.

I stood up so fast my chair crashed backwards.

"Darius—" Dorian started.

I did not wait. I rushed out of the classroom, ignoring the professor's shouts for me to sit back down.

I ran down the corridor and burst into my room, slamming the door behind me.

I pulled out my phone again and opened the live stream.

Selene was making out with Caleb now. Their hands were all over each other.

I was about to close it. About to throw my phone across the room.

Then Caleb spoke.

"I also have a plan that I have been putting to work."

Selene pulled back slightly. "What plan?"

"I intentionally asked Ravenna out to spite Darius. To wound him deeply about losing her."

My blood turned to ice.

"And my plan," Caleb continued, "is to seduce Ravenna. Manipulate her into making out with me properly. I will have a video recording of it to use as blackmail. To keep her tied to me."

"That is superb," Selene breathed.

"And I will send the video to Darius too. Let him know I have eaten the forbidden fruit. Let him know he lost."

"How close are you to making this happen?"

"Very close. I am close to cracking that part of the plan. And once everything is done, both Darius and Ravenna will be too ruined to ever get close to each other."

Selene laughed. "Perfect. Absolutely perfect."

I left the live stream.

Rage consumed me. Pure, white-hot rage that made Atlas roar inside my head.

My phone rang. Richard's name flashed across the screen.

I answered. "What?"

"I am guessing from your tone that you have seen the live revelation," Richard's voice was cold. Controlled.

"Yes."

"End the engagement. Now."

I yelled before I could stop myself. "You end it! You were the one who prepared this arrangement in the first place! You chose her! You announced it publicly without asking me! So you fix it!"

I hung up before he could respond.

The door burst open. Dorian rushed in, breathing hard. "Darius, you need to calm down—"

"Calm down?" I spun to face him. "Caleb and Selene have been together all this time! Playing both of us! And look at what they planned! Look at what they were going to do!"

"I know—"

"Selene was going to murder me! Actually murder me! And Caleb—" My voice broke. "Caleb was going to—"

I could not finish the sentence.

"I need to skate," I muttered, pushing past Dorian. "I need to get this anger out before I do something I regret."

I headed straight for the ice rink.

The following morning, I woke to find my father already at the academy.

All students had been summoned to the main hall for mandatory attendance.

I sat in the back with Dorian, watching as the dean took the stage.

"We are gathered here today to address a serious matter," the dean began. "As many of you are aware, a live stream was broadcast yesterday revealing deeply troubling behaviour from two of our students."

Murmurs rippled through the crowd.

"Selene Blackwood and Caleb Nightshade, please come to the stage."

Selene walked up slowly, her head down. Caleb followed, his expression defiant.

The dean cleared his throat. "The actions revealed in that broadcast cannot be tolerated at this academy. Plotting to harm another student. Planning manipulation and blackmail. These are serious offences that go against everything this institution stands for."

He turned to face them directly. "Selene Blackwood, you are hereby expelled from Midnight Academy effective immediately. You have one hour to collect your belongings and leave the premises."

Selene's face went pale.

"Caleb Nightshade, you are suspended indefinitely pending a full investigation into your involvement in these schemes. You will also leave campus within the hour."

"This is ridiculous!" Caleb protested. "We were just talking! We did not actually do anything!"

"You plotted to murder a student and blackmail another," the dean replied coldly. "That is more than enough for expulsion and suspension."

Richard stood up from where he had been sitting in the front row. He walked onto the stage, his presence commanding immediate silence.

"I would like to say a few words," he announced.

The dean stepped aside.

Richard turned to face Selene. "I am highly disappointed in you. I had big dreams for you. Visions for our families' future together. You have crashed all of that with your actions."

Selene started crying.

"The engagement between you and my son is hereby cancelled," Richard continued. "Effective immediately. You will receive no compensation. No settlement. Nothing. You have forfeited everything through your own choices."

He stepped off the stage and started walking towards the exit. I turned to leave too.

Selene ran after me seeing she couldn't reach Darius. "Please! Darius, please! I did not mean any of it! I was just talking! Please do not cancel the engagement!"

I stopped and turned to face her. "Get away from me."

His voice was so cold it made the entire hall go silent.

"I hate you," Darius added quietly. "With every breath inside me. I hate what you are. What you planned to do to my son. Get out of my sight."

I turned and left.

The hall erupted into chaos behind me. Students were cheering. Some were laughing. Others were recording everything on their phones.

Dorian leaned closer to me as the chaos continued around us. "We should thank whoever this Revenge person is. They exposed the truth and saved your life, honestly."

I nodded slowly, my mind still reeling. "It is weird though."

"What is?"

"Who is this Revenge person?" I turned to look at him properly. "How did they know all of this? How did they get access to that hotel room? How did they know exactly when and where Selene and Caleb would be meeting?"

Dorian frowned. "I had not thought about that."

"And what is the main purpose of doing it?" I continued, the questions piling up in my mind. "The first videos exposed my father and Caleb's father. Now this one exposes Sel
ene and Caleb themselves. What is the pattern? What is the endgame?"

"Maybe they just want justice," Dorian suggested.

"Or maybe they want revenge," I replied quietly. "Against all of us and both our packs."
