Chapter 48
This week has been a rough one, but hopefully we can get some answers tonight. The boys have been helping our dads locate the Blood Moon Pack. We’re hoping to find Abby, so Ezra can explain the situation. If she is meant for him, she should understand and forgive him.
I’m hoping we can get more information at the meeting. I’m nervous for Ezra, and to find out what’s going on with Creed. I need to know that he’s OK and not lying in a ditch somewhere.
“Bella, let’s go. It’s a meeting not the prom,” my dad yelled up the stairs.
I took one last look in the mirror before heading downstairs to meet the boys. The butterflies in my stomach are driving me crazy. Calm down Bella, you’re just there to listen. I keep telling myself.
The drive to the convention center was quick. Dad gave me the run-down on how these meetings usually work on the drive. The Alpha’s all sit at their designated tables with their Beta and Gamma’s behind them, and the heirs sit in the last row along the wall. Whoever called the meeting starts, and the councils address them accordingly. The heirs stay quiet because they are only there for experience.
We pulled into the parking lot right behind Alpha Kain and Beta Gavin. I need to remember to address them accordingly today. The building is huge, and as we walked in, I noticed the set-up was exactly like dad said. The rows of tables are set up in the shape of a rectangle in the middle of an open room. Then two rows of chairs are behind the tables.
There are a ton of people here. As we made our way through the crowd, I could feel the mate bond pulling me.
I linked the boy’s, “I think Dawson and Rowen are both here. Everyone’s scents are mixing, but I feel the bond with both of them pulling me.”
Ryker linked back, “whatever you do, stay calm. Do not lose control.”
I nodded and gave him a look to let him know that I understood.
We took our seats behind my dad and Uncle Gavin. I can see around better now that more people have taken their seats. My nerves are in overdrive and my heart is racing, as I take in a few more familiar faces.
I looked at the boys to see if they were noticing the same thing as me, but the three of them looked unconcerned with anything.
“Um guy’s,” I linked them.
“What’s wrong,” Ryker asked.
“Did you notice who else is here?”
I gave them a minute as I watched them look around through the crowd.
Ezra shook his head no and gave me a curious look.
“Remember my dream with the moon goddess. She told me everyone in my life is connected. Here’s my list that I can see so far, Rowen, Dawson, Reese, Vince, Dante, Isaac. The only people missing are Creed and Jacie.”
“Oh shit,” Ezra linked.
“Your mark has to have something to do with rank, Bella.” Drake gave me a look.
I nodded and linked my dad, “um dad, two of my fated mates are here. As well as the two vampires that attacked me and Dawson.”
He stayed facing forward, so he wouldn’t draw attention to me. “Which ones are they?”
I described where they were sitting and what they looked like through our link and watched as my dad looked around at all of them.
“Pay attention, and look for the link, Bella.”
“I will.”
What can possible link together three wolves, a bear, a witch, a dragon, and two vampires. Fated to three, friends with two, and I guess acquaintances with two.
I noticed the vampire king and some of the witches looking at me. I’m trying to stay calm, but they are making it difficult. I placed my hands under my legs and looked at the boys.
“Just breathe,” Ryker linked me.
Everyone is seated except for the dragons. Their table is still empty.
You could feel the energy in the room shift as three massive men walked in. The one in front must be Cyrus. He has the same piercing green eyes as Creed. The entire room went silent, and I swear you can feel their power.
Two of them took their seats, but Cyrus remained standing in between them. He gripped the back of his chair as he looked around at everyone.
“Thank you all for coming today. Some of you already know that my father, our king, was planning against all of you. When I called this meeting, it was with the intention of informing you all about his plans, and the timeline that I discovered. Some of you also know that I was in the process of recruiting warriors to help us take him down. However, there’s been a change of plans. I’m happy to stand here today and inform you all that the king has fallen, and as of this morning, I have accepted my rightful place as the new Dragon king.”
Low mumbles could be heard throughout the crowd, but Cyrus never even flinched as he looked around the room. His eyes focused on me for a moment, and I’m guessing he knows who I am.
“What does that mean for us? How do we know you’re not going to follow in his footsteps?” The bear king asked.
“My father has been set in his ways for years, and he was delusional when it came to knowing right from wrong. It’s time for change. I will lead my people to be accepting of all supernatural species. None of us are superior to the others. I’m asking all of you to accept the Dragons as well. We have been in hiding for far too long.”
“I’m not accepting anything. If your Dragons come anywhere near my territory they will be destroyed.” One of the Alpha’s from the Wolf counsel yelled.
Uncle Kain cringed, “Cyrus has a valid point. In order to change the dragon’s warped perspective on other species, they need to be able to be around other species. I can’t speak for the other Alphas, but Green Ridge will welcome any dragon with pure intentions.”
The other Alpha that I’m guessing is Rowen’s dad shook his head, “Oh of course you will. Half of your pack is nothing but freaks.”
“What you call freaks is a highly trained pack. When multiple species live and train together, you get a whole different world of strengths.”
“I heard you have a wolf in your pack that can produce fire from her hands,” The Bear king said.
“Yes, we do,” Uncle Kain nodded.
“She saved my boy from a couple of bloodlust vampires.”
I looked at Dawson and then at Vince and Dante, who looked ashamed.
“She would help anyone that was in danger.” Uncle Kain stared at the Bear king, trying to figure out his intentions.
I noticed my dad looked tense. He hates people knowing about my powers.
The vampire king piped up, “they were starved, they meant no harm.”
“No harm,” the Bear king yelled. “My son almost died because you can’t keep your vampires under control.”
“I hope she caused them a painful death,” Rowen’s dad said while staring at the vampire king. “They deserved to die.”
“I didn’t kill them,” I yelled at him.
Oh shit, I covered my mouth, but it’s too late. All eyes are on me.
