I noticed how people eyed me suspiciously as I walked inside the train station.
Maybe because I was wearing all black or because of the hood and mask that I had on my face. I admit, I was intimidating, but they had nothing on me and they didn't have the right to judge.
I went to the locker area and started my search for locker B45. It was a bottom locker, so I had to crouch down to reach it.
I got the key out of my pocket and hoped to God that it wouldn't explode upon opening.
I inserted the key inside the keyhole and slowly opened the locker door.
I tilted my head to the side as I looked inside.
It was another envelope, similar to the one that Brandon gave me but this one looked fuller.
I reached out for it and held in my hand, assessing it.
It was way heavier than Brandon's folder and its sides bulged out from whatever big thing that was inside.
I closed the locker door back and was about to get up when someone bumped into me halfway through, making me drop the folder.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to bump into you." The man apologised almost too quickly as he crouched in front of me.
He was wearing a long, beige trench coat and a cowboy hat that covered almost all of his face.
He grabbed the folder and gave it to me along with a folded paper.
I looked up at him in confusion and his eyes met mine.
His grey eyes looked oddly familiar and he was looking all me in a knowing sort of way. Like he was trying to tell me something.
I opened the folded note that he gave me and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
'They're coming. Run ' Was all the note said.
I quickly snapped my head up to where the man was, but he wasn't there.
I turned my head all around in search for him but nada. It was as if he vanished into thin air.
My searching was brought to a halt when Hugh's urgent voice echoed in my ear.
"April! You have to leave right now. This was an ambush and about ten men are approaching you from all sides!" He warned.
I quickly placed the folder in my backpack as I ran to the station's entrance.
"It wasn't an ambush Hugh. I found a folder. I guess they were waiting for me to open the locker so that they can get what's inside through me." I told him as I continued dodging people.
"Don't grow all tough April and just run away. Don't fight them." Hugh warned pleadingly.
"I will if I have no choice. Just keep watch on those surveillance cameras you hacked and tell me exactly where each man is." I spoke.
"April you've got-" Hugh started.
"One right in front of me." I finished for him as I stopped dead in my tracks.
The man was very easy to identify with his black suit and his searching eyes.
His head snapped in my direction, and when his eyes met mine, they widened and he quickly started running towards me.
"Woah...The other way, the other way." I chanted as I turned to the side and started running.
The man was about over six foot nine or something. He was huge and I wasn't ready to indulge myself in a fist fight with him. I'm still very young.
This train station was filled with people, making it hard to run fast without bumping into someone.
I was stopped dead in my tracks yet again when my eyes caught that of two other huge looking men.
"Oh boy." I muttered as I turned around once again.
"There's an escalator to your right." Hugh said and I was quick to turn right.
Just like I'd guessed, the escalator also was filled with people, so I had no other choice but to run up the rail in between the up and down. It was only wide enough for one foot but since I was running it didn't really matter.
I noticed two other men were on the down escalator. They yelled and reached with their hands to catch me, but I jumped right above their extended arms.
"Woah." The word came out of my mouth as I tried regaining my balance on the rail once again.
"Get her!" I heard one of the men yell as I hopped to solid ground on the second floor.
I looked behind me to find five men running up the escalator, pushing people in their way.
All of them were in the same attire, a black suit and black dress shoes.
I didn't waste time until they came and hurriedly ran to God knows where.
"Find me a different exist Hugh." I said as I ran down a packed hallway.
"You've got two fire exists on this floor, one just around the corner and one further away." Hugh replied.
I was coming to the end of the hall and as I turned the corner, I was struck in the face by some force, making me stumble back to the ground.
I rubbed my throbbing nose painfully.
Damn! This will bruise.
I looked up to find a man towering in front of me. He had an evil smirk plastered on his face as he wound a metal chain around his hand.
He raised the hand with the chain in it and aimed it at me.
I was quicker than him and rolled on the floor to the side.
He whipped his chain again, making me roll back to the same spot that I fell to.
I didn't wait for him to strike again and quickly stood on my feet just as he swiped again at the spot I was in, missing me for the third time, thankfully.
I started sprinting away, but I felt something wrap itself around my wrist and pull me back a step.
I looked at my wrist and saw the metal chain wrapped around it.
I trailed my eyes to the man who was smirking at me again.
My eyes widened when I realised what he was about to do.
He pulled the chain, pulling me along with it.
I held onto the chain myself and used it to balance as I kicked him in the face.
His head bounced back and soon his smirk turned to a death glare.
I raised his other hand to punch me and I quickly dodged it as I crouched down.
I used the opportunity to punch him in the gut making him double over.
I got up from my place and held his head before bringing it to my knee.
The man groaned in pain and pulled his himself back.
"Oh no you don't." I smirked as I pulled at the chain that was still wrapped around my wrist, making him come closer before I punched him in the face again, making him fall to the ground unconscious.
I was pulled by his weight when he fell to the floor.
"Two are coming from behind you." Hugh noted.
I quickly unwrapped the chain from around my wrist and was about to get up from the hulk wannabe, but the two men were quick to reach me.
I turn around but remained seated on the man's stomach as I aimed a kick at the first man to reach me then a side kick to the other.
I grabbed the chain from beside me and unwrapped it from hulk's hand before taking advantage of the chance that the two men are on the ground and tying their feet together with it making them unable to stand up.
I got up from my place and walked to their heads as they struggled to get free from the chain.
"Who sent you?" I asked as I held their hair.
They both growled at me in response and tried to claw at my hands.
I bumped their heads together strongly, making them fall unconscious too.
"That's okay, I'll find someone else to ask." I smirked as I got up to my feet and dusting myself off.
"One o'clock April." Hugh notified.
My head snapped to where Hugh said, and I groaned out as I saw the five men that were struggling on the escalator coming towards me with ugly smirks and taunting eyes.
"I just wanna go home." I groaned to myself as I flailed my arms in exaggeration.
The men started running towards me, so I took off the other way.
I wasn't being a coward, don't get wrong, I just wanted them to get separated by their differences in speed.
I ran to what appeared to be a small café-slash-food-court type of thing.
There were tables, chairs and people everywhere making it hard to escape.
I had no choice but to jump to a table and slide across it. I thankfully chose one with no food on it.
"Sorry." I apologised to the startled family as I fell to my feet again.
The other men, however, weren't so respectful as they just shoved people away.
Several gasps and yells echoed around as people got pushed to the side.
I was running when suddenly a table got shoved into my stomach, making me double over it, and when I looked up, I saw the six-foot-nine man on the other side of the table.
He smirked before pushing the table, pushing me along with me.
I looked behind me to find myself getting pushed towards two other men.
I quickly turned and sat on the edge of the table as I approached the men and used my legs to kick them away.
The men that were pushing the table wrapped his arms around my shoulders, locking me in place.
I swayed my legs then pushed it upwards so that I folded my body, my trunk on the table and my feet between the man's head.
I caught hold of his head tightly with my things and then pushed my legs to raise his head up and throw him on the floor in front of me, freeing myself from his arms.
The other two men that I just kicked lunged themselves at me.
One was about to punch me in the face, but I was quick to hold his arm and throw him on my back and to the ground right above the six-foot-nine one.
The other swayed his fist at me too making me duck before punching him myself in the chin.
Someone held me from behind and started squeezing my ribcage hard, but I contained my pain and didn't allow myself to show it.
One of the men that was on the ground was getting up, his back to me so I took this opportunity to place my legs on him and use him to push my body so that I rolled above the man that was holding me and fall to the ground behind him.
I then kicked him in the back making him stumble forward and trip over his fallen buddies that were trying to get up again.
"Four more. Two o'clock." Hugh said making my head snap towards the other four men.
I turned on my heels and started running the other way.
I rounded a corner when I was suddenly shoved into what looked like the janitor's closet.
The sparks that erupted in my whole body and the amazing scent that filled the air made it all known to me who the person that was holding me was.
We remained quiet and watched from the small opening that we had in the door as the men passed by, searching for me.
We watched as one of them barked out orders for half to search right and half to go left.
I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding as soon as they left.
"I thought you promised that you won't go alone anymore." Lucian's accusing voice filled my ears.
I looked up at him, not knowing what to say.
How did he expect me to just come up and tell him to come with me after what happened last night? I came here to forget about the fight so how can I purposely remind myself about it.
Lucian sighed deeply when I didn't respond, his breath fanning against my face since we were cramped in the tiny room, our faces inches apart.
"Look Rose, I'm really sorry about last night. I was a jerk and-" He started but his words died in his throat when I hugged him.
I don't know why I did but I felt so relieved that he was here. I felt safe and happy that he actually came, and I couldn't help myself as I jumped into his arms.
Rose wasn't helping either since she was yelling happily and jumping around at the sight of her mate.
Yesterday's fight was stupid from both our sides and I guess that both of us were being selfish in our own ways and being unfair to the other.
"I'm in the wrong too Lucian. You don't have to apologise." I told him as I continued wrapping my arms around his neck, his own around my torso.
"No hard feelings?" Lucian asked and I could hear the smile on his face.
I shook my head and smiled against his neck. "No hard feelings." I repeated.
I pulled back and looked up at him.
"Time to kick some ass." He smirked making my smile grow.
Just my type of guy.
