April's POV
I took in a deep breath as my eyelids started slowly opening.
I winced in pain when I tried to get up, my shoulder hurting me bad.
I struggled as I got up from my place, trying as much as possible to not place any load on my injured shoulder.
With a deep breath, I looked around the room that I was in after being able to sit up in my place.
The room wasn't very big but could definitely mock the size of my 'room'.
It was too dark and if it wasn't for my werewolf senses, I wouldn't have been able to see a thing.
There was one door right in front of the queen-sized bed that I was on. I noticed that there were no signs of any closets around, so I assumed that this door was a walk-in closet.
There was another door on my left, and it was obviously the door that would lead me to the rest of this house because of the faint streak of light coming in from under it.
A window was on the wall on my right with two chairs on each side and a small glass table in the middle. The curtains were wide open.
Looking out the window, I noticed that it was still dark outside, meaning that I still have time to go back before uncle Adam wakes up along with the rest.
He'll go crazy if he didn't find me in the pack house.
Lucian's scent was all over and I knew that he was with me in this place.
But where is this place?
"Hugh." I called, hoping that he would tell me where I was, but he didn't answer.
"Hugh." I called out again more worried but still the line came back empty.
I sighed.
"Maybe he already knows where you are, so he went to sleep or something." I heard Rose say to ease away my worry. He never didn't answer when I called.
"Yeah maybe." I replied back with a shrug.
As I spoke, I noticed the mask that covered my face was still on.
"He didn't remove it." I mumbled to myself.
"I guess he respected your wishes to keep your identity hidden and is waiting for the right time to know." Rose said happily, obviously very proud of what Lucian did.
My respect for him grew, and I couldn't help the goofy smile that spread across my half-covered face.
I removed the duvet cover from my body and attempted to leave the bed.
I winced when I moved my shoulder abruptly and waited a couple of seconds for the pain to subside.
I took in a deep breath before placing my bare feet on the soft, plush carpet that was under me, wiggling my toes through.
"That's so soft." I giggled to myself and I could see Rose shake her head in my mind.
I was too happy and bubbly for some reason, and I didn't exactly hate it.
I actually never felt this way before.
I begrudgingly stepped towards the door, leaving the very soft carpet behind.
Not only Lucian's woodsy scent increased but also the smell of very delicious food and the sound of someone humming something hit me.
I opened the door and quickly squinted my eyes when I was met with bright light.
It took me moments to adjust to the brightness and I was soon back on my way out.
As soon as I stepped out the bedroom door, I found myself in what looks like a living room. There was a large forty-inch TV hanging on the wall to my left with an Xbox below it on a wooden shelf. Many gaming consoles were sprawled on the floor and I rolled my eyes at it. Typical boy stuff, but I wasn't complaining whatsoever.
There was a sofa opposite to the TV and a window with a window seat on the wall adjacent to it.
There were many soft looking pillows on the window seat, and it looked like the best place to read or just sit and look out the window Looking to my left, right next to the TV and its equipment was another door which I assume is the bathroom and right to my right was where the amazing smells were coming from. The kitchen.
It was an open styled kitchen with the only thing separating it from a living room are two counters on each side with an opening in the middle for people to enter.
The counters on the sides had a mixture of a fruit basket, what looked like a coke jar, a flower vase on the side and a couple wine bottles.
Lucian was standing at the stove putting pasta in the boiling water as he hummed to some song.
An amused smile adorned my face.
I didn't know he cooked.
I crossed my arms across my chest and leaned with my side against one of the counters.
"Lucian." I called, making him stop what he was doing.
He quickly turned around, a wide grin spreading across his face upon making eye contact with me.
In an instant he was by my side asking if I was okay and if I was still hurting.
He made my heart swell in happiness and I assured him that I was okay. I didn't want him to worry at all and when he pulled me into his arms, I felt like I was in heaven. Like I finally found my place in this world.
His embrace was so warm and gentle, I didn't want to let go from it.
"Lucian." I called after a while, dying to ask the question the itched at the back of my mind.
He pulled only slightly to look into my eyes.
"What happened?" I asked.
Lucian sighed deeply and retreated his hands away, making Rose whimper at the loss of contact and me to instantly feel cold.
"We should go sit down." He said as he took my hand in his and pulled me towards the couch.
He sighed again and ran a hand down his face making me look at him in confusion.
"I don't know how to tell you this Rose." He started while I remained quiet, waiting for him to continue.
"I was shot by an arrow, this part I know very well." I said when he didn't speak. "But who shot me? And why was I affected like that? I was never that weak." I continued.
"How did you know that it was an arrow?" Lucian asked in shock.
"From the sound that it made as it penetrated through the air and how it felt when it hit my body." I replied.
Lucian looked at me wide eyed before sighing.
"Expected from someone as skilled as you." He murmured making me smile.
I took what he said as a compliment.
"Anyways, the arrow was silver coated, so it affected your strength on the spot making you faint." He explained.
I nodded my head at him. "And who shot me?" I asked.
Lucian averted his gaze to look anywhere but me.
"Who did it, Lucian?" I asked again as I placed my hand on top of his fidgeting ones.
He looked at my hand then back into my eyes.
"One of my father's soldiers." He replied, his voice barely a whisper.
It all made sense now why he was nervous about telling me.
"But I didn't know I swear. I didn't know that he—" Lucian rushed out, but I stopped him mid-sentence.
"It's fine. I expected as much when you said that Brandon sought your father's help. He must've sent some warriors after you in case something happened."
"So, you're not mad at me because of it?" He asked as his face inched closer.
"I can never get mad at you." I found myself replying.
I mentally face palmed myself. I'm slowly turning into a teenage girl in love. Not my style at all.
Lucian's face inched closer and I knew what exactly he was trying to do.
I pulled my head back a little. "I can't take my mask off, not yet at least." I spoke, my voice barely a whisper.
A small smile tugged at Lucian's lips.
"I know." He murmured and before I knew it, he pressed his lips to the place on my mask that was exactly in front of my own lips so that his lips where pressed against my own with only the mask in between.
My eyes widened in shock at his actions and all too soon he pulled away.
He grinned sheepishly at my startled expression.
Our small stare down was cut short as we heard someone banging on the door.
"Lucian!" The person yelled with a very familiar voice.
"Open this door you good for nothing prince!" Hugh screamed as he continued his banging.
Oh Lord.
"Stay here." Lucian said, his protective mode kicking in.
I rolled my eyes. "That's just Hugh." I spoke as I got up from my place and followed Lucian.
He probably didn't hear me, or he just ignored what I had said, because he didn't reply as he stalked angrily towards the door.
He opened the door to reveal a glaring Hugh, his hand in the air as he was about to knock again.
"Who the hell are you?" Lucian growled at him.
Hugh ignored Lucian as his eyes met me and pushed him to the side.
"Ap-Rose!" He quickly corrected himself as he ran towards me.
"Are you okay?" He asked as his eyes searched my face, ignoring Lucian who was growling at him for touching me.
"I'm fine Hu-" I didn't get to finish the sentence as I was quickly turned around.
"Oh God." Hugh whispered as he looked at my wound.
"Don't be such a drama queen Hugh, I'm fine." I rolled my eyes.
"Fine? You call this fine? We have to take you to the hospital!" He said worriedly.
I sighed deeply. He just won't listen.
Suddenly, I was pulled away from Hugh and into Lucian's hard chest.
"She said she was fine, now leave." Lucian snarled at Hugh as he glared at him.
Hugh growled in return.
"How did you even find this place?" Lucian asked.
"Oh, you mean after you hung up on me without telling me about my Alpha's whereabouts?" Hugh sneered at him mockingly. "You just underestimated me Mr. Prince. Tracking her phone wasn't so hard after all." He finished.
Oh boy. This won't end up well.
Lucian growled for the nth time.
"She's my mate not yours and her whereabouts don't matter to you as much." Lucian replied.
"It does if it has to do with her safety." Hugh snapped.
"I told you that she was with me and that she was fine." Lucian snapped back while I just stood there watching both those kids bicker off.
"To say that she got shot by a silver coated arrow, how do you expect me to be okay with that?" Hugh asked angrily.
Lucian growled in frustration. "Did you lose some brain cells mutt? I informed you that I treated her wound and that she was fine!"
Both of the male wolves glared at each other as they barred their canines, both in attack mode.
My own stomach growled in hunger, so I just pulled away from Lucian and walked away.
"Rose, where are you going?" Lucian asked as he pulled me by my hand, his glare softening into a scared look. He feared I'd leave.
"I don't have time to watch two kids fighting something stupid off so I'm leaving." I replied in a bored tone.
I wasn't actually leaving, I was just getting some food.
"What? No, please don't leave. I'll stop okay, please don't." Lucian pleaded.
I heard Hugh scoff in the background earning him a glare from Lucian.
He turned to look at me again. "This idiot will go get lost now and you and I will enjoy a meal together okay?" Lucian said with pleading eyes.
"What? No way in hell am I leaving without Rose!" Hugh yelled.
"Don't listen to him baby, he's leaving now." Lucian said as in to reassure me, ignoring Hugh all together.
"No I won't!" Hugh yelled again.
"What would you like to eat first?" Lucian asked me with a small smile, ignoring Hugh yet again who was fuming.
"I can smell steak." I replied with a small smile of my own.
Lucian's smile grew wider as he nodded at me.
"Then steak it is." He said as he went to the kitchen to get things ready, pulling me along with him.
"Unbelievable." I heard Hugh mutter behind us in disbelief and I couldn't help the chuckle that left my lips.
