Riiinngg I heard the phone ring as I waited for the other side to pick up.
"Mr. Brandon Doyle." I spoke once the ringing stopped and the sound of music in the background started playing.
My voice was gruff from the modified speaker that Hugh installed.
"Uhm...yes? Who is it?" Brandon answered from the other side. His voice seemed uncertain and it looks like my changed voice started the warning bells in his head.
"Who I am doesn't concern you right now, all you need to know is that I have your mother here with us." I replied.
"What? Mother? What did you to do her?" He asked frantically.
"Relax Brandon, she's safe......For now."
"What do you want?" He asked the all too known question.
"I need you and your father to come down here in Virginia and then we talk." I answered. "You've got until midnight." I finished.
I didn't wait for him to respond and was quick to hang up, adding 8 the mysterious, danger effect.
"I want you ready Hugh. When the clock strikes twelve exactly, you call him again and give him this address." I turned to Hugh, handing him a piece of paper with an address on it.
Hugh nodded his head, not that I worried that he wouldn't.
"Wait, where are you going?" Hugh asked as I headed for the door.
I turned to look at him. "I have a couple of chores left to do and then I'll go visit Janeen for some time." I replied.
"Janeen? Why? It's not time yet." Hugh asked confused.
"Er....yeah...Uhm...." I stuttered not knowing what to say.
I just wanna see her and talk to her again.
"Just go." Hugh sighed as he motioned with his hand for me to go.
I narrowed my eyes at him but said nothing as I started making my way out his room again.
I finished whatever I had to do in the pack house before packing what I needed, put my mask on and left, hoping to God that Uncle Adam won't need me.
This will be my first time going out as Rose in bright daylight, but I couldn't help it, knowing that my mother's replica was only a pack territory away.
It didn't take me time to reach her place like before or maybe I was too excited that I jumped faster than my normal pace.
I couldn't knock on the door this time since someone might see. So, I swiftly slide through an open window which landed me in her bathroom.
Thankfully, she wasn't there.
I took in a deep breath to make sure that her scent was the only one present and that no one else is here with her before removing my mask.
As I walked through her tiny bathroom, my peripheral vision caught sight of the mirror hanging on the wall.
I'm a girl, so it was only reasonable when I stopped and looked at my reflection.
I removed the hood that was hiding my dark red hair and let it cascade down my back and frame my face.
My forest green orbs were sparkling with happiness and the smile never left my face.
I soon, left the bathroom in search for my aunt.
Her scent led me to the kitchen where she was making some juice.
"Why is it that you're always doing something in the kitchen?" I asked once I stepped into the kitchen's threshold.
Janeen yelped in surprise as she quickly turned around to look at me, her auburn hair twirling with her.
Her Hazel eyes sparkled once she saw that it was me.
"You startled me." She said as she held a hand to her heart, a small smile grazing her lips.
"Sorry." I apologize with a smile.
"Are you expecting any visitors?" I asked as I walked towards her.
She shook her head in response.
"Then what's up with this huge amount of juice you're making?" I asked with slight confusion and curiosity.
Janeen sighed. "Just taking my mind off things." She murmured with a pained expression and I wished I never asked.
I guess curiosity really did kill the cat, but in this case, the wolf.
"I'm really sorry Janeen." I said softly.
She looked at me with a smile on her face. "Don't think about it."
We spent the rest of the day together. She told me stories about my parents and stories when she and my mom were kids.
I don't think I ever laughed that much since the incident seven years ago.
My eyes actually glazed over and my stomach suffered terrible laughing cramps.
It was soon time for us to get ready and initiate the plan.
I had high hopes that Chris Doyle would fall for our bait and come for his wife. They might not be mates that they're married and even had a child together. I'm sure that counts for something.
I felt bad though for involving Brandon into this but he's our only way to reach Chris.
"It's time Janeen." I said as I looked up at the clock.
"Already?" Janeen gasped with wide eyes.
I nodded my head. "Time sure flies by when you're having a good time." I mumbled more to myself but Janeen was a werewolf with good hearing as she nodded in agreement.
"Uhmm...April?" Janeen called as we stood up from our seats.
I turned to look at her.
"How are we going to go there? Alpha Rosewood has patrols watching the borders." Janeen warned worriedly.
"I have my ways." I winked at her and to her surprise I didn't walk to the front door but choose to leave through the back door.
"Ready?" I asked.
Janeen looked hesitant but nodded none the less.
I got out my scent masking spray and masked her scent.
She gasped in shock as I picked her small body, holding her bridal style.
All those years of training and strengthening my muscles did come in handy, and Janeen wasn't that heavy to carry.
"Hold on tight." I said before jumping to the nearest tree branch, earning a soft whimper out of Janeen's lips.
She held onto me for dear life and even though her death grip chocked me, I kept quiet for her safety.
Our plan was supposed to take place in a small, empty cottage on rogue lands. It would be perfect for an interruption free meeting.
I gently placed Janeen on the ground inside the empty cottage.
"I'm really sorry about this Janeen, but I'll have to tie your hands and legs." I told her.
She nodded her head in understanding as I proceeded in tying her up gently. It was only for show and I tied the rope in a way where she can easily untie herself.
I smiled at her in reassurance once I as done and she returned the gesture.
"Now we have to wait for your husband and son." I said as I got up from my crouched position.
"Hugh, did you make the phone call?" I asked.
"Yes. He took the first flight to here when we called and waited in a hotel nearby until I called. He's probably on his way." Hugh replied through the earpiece.
Right on cue, I heard the footsteps of someone coming near the cottage.
I quickly hid in the dark corner.
"Remember the plan Janeen and don't worry, I'm right here with you." I whispered as she laid in her position on the ground.
I waited in silence as the footsteps came closer and held my breath once the cottage door opened slightly.
I scrunched up my face in confusion when no scent hit my nose, but I shrugged it off. He was here already so his scent wouldn't matter much.
The person behind the slightly opened door, pushed it open more before emerging from his hidden position and entering the cottage.
My eyes widened in shock and time seemed to have stopped as the person whom I least expected entered.
For the love of everything sane, what is he doing here?
