Chapter 10 (Blood)

I couldn't believe my ears. My parents? I won't deny that they were not cruel but murder is a whole other level.

"What?" I whisper, water pooling in my eyes.

"They killed my parents! They watched them die but they did nothing!"What does she even mean? They were good leaders if not parents.

"The royal court sentenced my parents to death for something that was not even there fault!"

"I thought death sentencing was not heard off?" I ask softly. The royal court can only give the death sentence for one thing. Mass murder.

"Have you heard of the 'knights'? " The 'kights'!? That was a terrorist gang that killed many. I don't remember much since I was just 5 years old at that time.

"They deemed my parents as the head of that gang! They were just innocent farmers!" No wonder they had the death sentence! That gang killed a total of 160 people and some are yet not discovered. The gang mainly killed the rich because of the discrimination at that time but they also killed anyone who got in the way no matter what their status was.

They were ruthless. There is even a day celebrated because of the gang's death. It called equi day as both the gang was gone and the discrimination against the poor and rich was mostly gone.

"How would the king and queen know your parent's innocence?" I sounded a little angry. They were not the ones who called in the killers, one of the court members did so how can she blame my parents?

"They knew! They just hid it because it would jeopardize their crowns! The general did it! But instead of telling the court, they just let innocent people die! They just fired the general let him go!"

She was screaming. Thankfully the garden was empty or else I think everyone would have been able to hear it. It doesn't make sense! My parent's throws would not have been jeopardized! She has gotten it all wrong. There has to be some kind of explanation... there is no way they did it intentionally!

"I'm sorry, It's just a really sensitive topic for me... You have to promise me you won't tell anyone!" She looked at me straight in the eyes and looked scary.

"I-I promise..." I could barely make a whisper.

What did I hear? What am I supposed to do? After the intense conversation I had with Eve, I go to my bedroom because I was barely able to walk let alone work the whole day. I go to the bathroom attached to the room and look at myself in the mirror. My whole body was shivering, my lips trembling because of fright.

I splash water on my face two times before regaining composure. I am terrified. Why would my parents hide the truth? They were not liers. I just can't wrap my head around it. I slept the rest of the day because I couldn't even walk properly and if I was awake, I just kept thinking and really got tired of it.

Its been a whole week now since my conversation with eve, still no sign of Reece. At this point, I am getting a little concerned. He should at least be in his chambers but I've gone there a couple of times to clean and he was never there. He must be visiting his cities?

In the evening all the maids were called down to assemble. We all rushed down after finishing our pending work. It must be a very valuable guest if all the maids were called to greet them. Thinking of noblemen what did happen to the one Reece punched?

With everyone lining up including me, we bowed down and could not see our guest but we heard their footsteps.

"You may rest." His voice sounds awfully familiar. As I look up, My eyes were about to bulge out at how shocked and petrified I was. It was the former general. The general that supposedly did mass murder and here we are greeting him with open arms.

"You can resume your work now." His voice sends shivers down my spine. Thankfully he did not notice me that well. He did see me when I was only five years old but he might still recognize somewhat.

"You, with the bun. Stop." He recognized me! I'm done for. I try to control my trembling as much as possible.

I stop and slowly turn around. I lower my head a little so he might not recognize me.

"Yes sir?" I tune my voice in such a way that it cant be recognized.

"Have I met you somewhere?" No no no!

"No sir. I have been working in this castle for as long as I remember." I try not to stutter.

"Hmm, fine then. Your dismissed." He says that and walks away.

I don't know if I can handle it anymore. I'm slowly losing my mind. My parents were involved in shady things, two murders live in the same building, and on top of that, My feeling for Prince Reece get in the way of everything.

I mean why would I catch feelings for someone when I'm trying to find my alleged murderer? What kind of joke is god playing on me?

Right after the guest left Lots of maids and other workers were running around the castle. All of then looked very distressed.

I run to find miss Noe.

"What is going on.?" I ask, hopefully, it is not something bad but my gut feeling says otherwise.

"Sara! Thank god you are here! Can you please run to the street shops and get sponge and medicine?" She exclaims.

I run as fast as I could and look around different street shops to see if they had sponge or medicine. Many didn't but after searching for half an hour I quickly find it and run towards the castle as fast as I can. I run to give miss Noe the things but she quickly asks me to head towards the chambers and give it to the physician.

What the hell is happening? As soon as I enter the chambers, my answers were revealed. Prince Reece was lying in his bed unconscious and was bleeding from his shoulder. If I thought I couldn't handle the murders, they got nothing on Prince Reece. Blood was dripping on the floor and the mattress was also socked.

Why is this happening?
