CHAPTER 98
CHAPTER 98
Leo's POV
As the car stopped, I opened the door with one hand, about to try stepping out, but then I realized I couldn’t move my legs. My right leg was fractured, so I couldn’t walk on my own. I glanced at Koba.
He took out the car keys and stepped out. One hand went under the back of my neck, the other under my knees.
Without any effort, he lifted me as if I weighed nothing. Then, with his leg, he closed the car door and started walking toward the bungalow’s main entrance.
As we reached the main door, it opened, and a servant was standing there. He brought me inside and gently placed me on the sofa. As he did, I glanced around the house. It was indeed big and beautiful, but I was thirsty.
"Koba, can I get something to drink? I’m thirsty. Water would be good," I said.
Koba glanced toward the kitchen when he heard me, then went inside himself. In a few seconds, he came out with a glass filled with water. I had expected him to order the servant to bring it, so it was surprising that he went himself.
“Thanks,” I said, picking up the glass and drinking it all. I set the empty glass on the table, then grabbed a pillow from the sofa and placed it on my thighs. My hands rested on it as I glanced around again.
Koba was talking to the servant who had just opened the door, and soon the male servant left. Koba then came and sat beside me on the sofa.
"Leo, you don’t need to worry about anything. I’m ready to take care of you for the rest of your life. Even if you say no, even if you reject me, I won’t back down. I won’t give up. I know things can’t be changed, what happened three years ago, but I can change your present so your future can be better."
I didn’t know what had come over Koba suddenly, why he was saying these complicated, emotional things. I never expected to hear this side of him; it felt like a dream.
I covered my mouth to keep from smiling because he was serious, and if I smiled, it might look like I was mocking him. Covering my mouth, I simply nodded at his words.
Then I saw his shocked expression, his eyes widening. I realized my nodding was exactly the answer he was hoping for, as if he had been confessing and I had nodded yes.
“Wait, wait, wait, Koba! I didn’t mean it that way! I was just nodding at you because you were being emotional. Don’t think I’m saying yes right away, but I’m not rejecting you either,” I explained.
Three years ago, I thought I didn’t feel anything for anyone. But now, seeing Koba again, my heart indeed skipped a beat when I saw him.
When he showed care for me, I saw the love in his eyes, he was ready to do anything for me, even risk his own life, which moved me so much.
That’s why I decided I wouldn’t stop myself from falling for him. I was going to let myself fall, because if my heart was beating for him, there was nothing wrong with that.
"Leo, you’re cheating right now! You nodded! It means you’re accepting to be my boyfriend. You can’t back out now! You can’t! You’ve broken my heart!" Koba said dramatically.
His dramatic tone made me laugh. I couldn’t stop; I laughed so loudly that after a few seconds, my lips and even my stomach hurt. I tried to calm myself down with deep breaths.
Then the servant who had just left returned, carrying a wheelchair. My eyes went to Koba again.
“Well, I brought the wheelchair so you can move around freely as you want. There’s an elevator in the house, so if you want to go upstairs, you don’t need to use the stairs. You just need to use the elevator,” Koba explained.
I couldn’t believe Koba’s words, there was an elevator in his house! That was amazing. Now I could easily go upstairs and come back down. Even though this wasn’t technically my home, since I was going to be living here, it felt good.
But should I really trouble Koba? It seemed like I couldn’t give him anything in return, yet he was ready to do everything for me.
“Koba, you aren’t going to regret this, right? I’m not rich, and I don’t have anyone to rely on. So this… being with me won’t really benefit you. Who knows? You might regret helping me, bringing me here, especially if you meet someone better in the future,” I said quietly.
I didn’t want to leave Koba either, where would I go if I did? Still, I needed to know that he wouldn’t regret it. If he said he would, then there was no point in staying. I would leave and figure out how to live on my own, without bothering him again.
Surprisingly, Koba reached toward my cheeks and pinched them, which really hurt. I jerked away and glared at him.
“Silly, do you think I’ll regret it? I didn’t even regret it three years ago, so how could I regret it now? I never regretted meeting you, never regretted what I did for you, and I’m never going to regret loving you.”
Saying that, he pulled me into a hug. My heart, which had been racing and anxious, started to calm down.
“Koba, let’s start fresh,” I said. “Like we’ve just met and are trying to get to know each other.” A smile appeared on my lips, and Koba looked happy too. After a moment, he picked me up and carried me to the elevator.
When we reached the upstairs floor, he showed me to my room and gently set me down on the bed. The room was spacious and had a balcony. My wheelchair was already placed right beside the bed.
