Chapter 27 Chapter 27
Chapter 27 Chapter 27
“I’m going to get some sleep,” Sebastian grumbles as he holds his hurt arm to his side and goes up the stairs. “How can an old woman fucking beat me like that?” he mumbles to himself in disbelief.
She beat both of us. At least Sebastian put up a fight, she wiped the floor with me. I couldn’t even come close to her to land a hit.
I chuckle as I follow him up and go to my room. I have a quick shower before I dress up and enter the kitchen to make a sandwich. I grab the jar of Nutella, a plate, a knife, and bread and place them on the kitchen counter to start making my yummy goodness when Casper enters the kitchen.
“Hey,” he murmurs as he snakes his arms around my waist from behind and kisses my shoulder.
I smile. “Hey back to you.”
“How was training with Dakota?”
I groan and throw my head back. He spins me around and steps back to watch me with a smile on his face. “It was so bad. She had Sebastian and me fight her and for an old woman, she sure can kick ass. I wasn’t even able to land one hit on her.”
He chuckles. “I could spar with you if you want.”
“No thanks. I’m not trying to get my ass handed to me twice,” I groan.
He looks over my shoulder to the incredible ingredients of the world-renowned famous Nutella sandwich. He frowns, “And you’re gonna survive on that for the rest of the afternoon?”
I shrug.
“I told you yesterday that I couldn’t cook. Didn’t you listen to what I said last night? I would survive on crackers if it ever came down to it.”
He starts moving around the kitchen. “Trust me, I listened to every single thing you said last night. Luckily for you, I don’t want you to starve,” he tells me and flips the pot before placing it on the stove.
“A man after my own heart,” I say and we both grin.
“Do you have an idea on what to cook?” I ask as I stand on the tip of my toes, trying to peer over his shoulder.
“I could make you the pesto pasta with roasted asparagus.”
“Michelin star. Nice.”
“Or I could bake something.”
“You didn’t tell me that you also baked. Where did you have time to hone your culinary skills?”
He shrugs. “I don’t know. Maybe the Moon goddess knew she’d send me someone who couldn’t cook to save her life,” he says and starts moving around the kitchen collecting ingredients.
“My grandparents would love you.”
He chuckles. “Why?”
“You can cook,” I exclaim. “Who doesn’t like a man that can cook?”
“Can’t argue with that.”
“God, I used to be so fat as a child. My grandparents would stuff me with so much food. I always felt like Hansel and Gretel, getting prepped for a witch.”
“I’d love to see that.”
“I’m sure they’d be happy to show you old pictures.” I narrow my eyes at him. “Maybe this is your plan.”
“Plan?”
“To feed me and get me fat so I’d never leave.”
He smirks. “Would you rather I tied you up?”
My cheeks get hot. “Fuck off.”
“Do you have any baby pictures?”
“Maybe at my parents’ old house. Everything should be how I left it. I didn’t do anything after they died.”
It seems like the mention of his parents makes him lose concentration because he hisses in pain. I hop off the counter and rush to him. He’s cradling his hand close to his chest.
“Let me see it,” I urge as I take hold of his injured hand.
He shakes his head and just looks at the cut. “It’s okay, don’t worry.”
I frown and forcefully take his hand to look at it. “It’s not that deep, it’ll heal,” he says and takes back his hand before picking up the knife.
“No. Let me do that. It’s not that hard. You go sit down, I’ll ask for help if I need it.”
He looks like he’s about to argue but he doesn’t. “Keep an eye on the boiling pasta,” he says and takes a seat on a stool.
“I know I can’t cook but I obviously won’t mess up boiling pasta.”
He smirks. “Says you. You can’t even boil an egg.”
“I swear it’s not that easy,” I try to defend myself.
“Mhmm. I hear you.”
I playfully frown at him. “Remind me never to tell you shit like that again.”
“Famous last words.”
I roll my eyes at him. “Stupid,” I mumble to myself. I concentrate on the meat that I’m dicing into tiny pieces, albeit slowly.
“Can you go any faster? I can go faster than that even with my injured hand.”
I spin around and point the knife in his direction. “I. Will. Stab. You.”
He just laughs at me. “Relax, I just like riling you up.”
“And all this while, I thought that was just your personality. You were doing it on purpose.”
“Being an ass is my personality, don’t worry. But I put special care into pissing you off.”
I resist the urge to laugh and continue trying to cut the pieces very carefully and slowly. I could feel him staring at me as I worked and I got nervous. I didn’t want to mess up when he was paying close attention. That would be embarrassing.
“Done,” I tell him and turn off the fire for the pasta.
He hops off the stool and walks towards me. He inspects the cut meat and smiles at me. “Well done, it is perfectly cut. Didn’t think you could do some form of cooking to save a life but you can.”
I could slap this man. “I can make omelettes and coffee.”
He scoffs. “Like that’s actual food.”
“You’ll be thanking me when you break your arms and that’s all you’ll be eating.”
He grabs my wrist and pulls me closer. “Okay, okay, I’ll stop teasing.”
Who knew Casper could be so touchy.
“Better,” I grumble.
I dice tomatoes and onions under his watchful gaze and let him take over from there. He’s almost done with the food, now just waiting for it to cook a little. He spreads my legs and settles in between them as I sit on the countertop. We kiss and pull back.
“Do you even have a pack?” I murmur as he plays with my hair.
“I’m the alpha of the northern part of the capital. You know that huge lake down north?”
“Yeah.”
“My territory starts from all the way there to down here.”
My mouth opens in shock. “Really? That’s a lot. That should be more than half the capital. How do you do it?”
“Why do you think I always look tired? Plus Victor is there to help.”
“And the rest of the capital?”
“Under the command of the werewolf royals. The king, my uncle,” he explains.
“I could help if you want.”
He stops playing with my hair and looks at me. I clear my throat. “Or I could just leave it. You might not need my help anyways.”
“No, it’s okay. I would love it if you did help. But I have to warn you, it’s stressful,” he says and continues his ministration. The timer goes off and he pulls away to check on the food.
He then pulls out two plates and plops the food on each plate before sticking a fork into the pasta. I hop off the counter and sit on a stool as Casper places the plate of food in front of me and takes a seat beside me.
“So, I was thinking of taking you somewhere nice.”
I swallow the food I had in my mouth. “On a date?”
“Yeah if you want to call it that.” If I didn’t know any better, I’d say he sounds nervous.
I smile. “Depends—where are you taking me to?”
“I’m not telling.”
“Want me to say please?” I tease.
“In due time.”
I blush when he looks at me like he’d rather be eating me than the pasta. I look away. Does he know that he looks at me that way?
“You know, I’ve never gone out on a date before.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, like a proper one in a fancy restaurant and all that,” I laugh. “There weren’t a lot of date ideas for a bunch of seventeen-year-olds.”
He takes my hand in his. “I plan on treating you right, you know?”
No I don’t.
“I know,” I say and we kiss.
