Chapter 34 : Disappointment and anxiety

Sarah remained quiet all the way home. It was growing late, but Rayen, like Sarah, just kept staring at the busy street. Scenes such as this were hardly new to the driver who had brought them. Sarah and Rayen are accustomed to it that way, which is the reason.

Are you upset with me?

Sarah pivoted abruptly. "Irritated?" Sarah dipped her forehead in astonishment. "What is making you so angry?"

"Because I mentioned our wedding to Josh."

With a flimsy smile, Sarah shook her head.

"Why am I furious? Not at all. Just the fact that Brother Rayen told me directly surprises me."

"Do you feel let down?"

Once more, Sarah shook her head. "Not much; I did not feel anything for Doctor Josh right away. I thought of him as a close friend. In addition, he was humorous, loving, and compassionate. That and nothing else at all."

"So why is there a sorrowful look on your face?"

Rayen saw the sorrow on his wife's face. Sarah appeared to be thinking a lot as she went. Rayen peered through the car window, studying Sarah's face in private. Sarah appeared to be considering something, that much was obvious.

"I am sorry for Dr. Josh. Am I treating him unfairly? I had no idea that he felt anything for me. Maybe I would have told him about our marriage right away if I had known.

You are not to blame for this. I requested you to keep our marriage a secret right away. It is not necessary to ruminate on guilt. Josh is going to comprehend."

It is accurate. However, Rayen is unaware of what it is like to witness a close friend or relative be disappointed and upset, especially when Sarah was the one who started it. The girl is starting to sense this and consider how Josh is currently. After what occurred tonight, Sarah was worried that Josh would avoid her.

Josh took so many beers to drown his current discomfort that he was unable to keep track of them. Josh took some time to himself when he was in one of the best bars in the city.

He felt deeply hurt, angry, depressed, and disappointed all at once. It intensifies into excruciating pain. Sarah was not entirely off base.

Josh came to the realization that he was solely to blame. Why had not he just told Sarah how he felt a long time ago? Sarah already has a boyfriend; he finds the confidence to tell her how he feels.

"Are you upset?" asked a person seated next to Josh.

The man kept blinking to get his vision perfect. Josh, barely aware, gave a weak smile at the figure. "Heartbroken to the brink of breaking into pieces, not upset."

This was the first time the long-haired girl in the black short dress had seen a doctor who was inconsolable, and she chuckled. Josh was irritated when he heard the female next to him giggling.

"Luc, stop making fun of me."

"All right, I apologize," Lucy murmured, trying not to chuckle. Josh looks adorable when he is like this, if you glance about. It is especially endearing to see his face when he is irritated.

Lucy was apprehensive to talk to Josh there at first. He drank so much because he believed Josh was in trouble. Josh, though, had assisted her in getting away from her violent ex-boyfriend. Lucy decided to go with Josh as a result. Who knows, maybe the guy needs someone to vent to about his problems.

The explanation for this is the obvious fatigue on Josh's face.

"So, what exactly is upsetting you so much? Who is the woman who has the courage to break a dashing man like you's heart?" questioned Lucy, who felt very comfortable.

That is just the way he is. Given that Lucy is a friendlier person than Sarah, it is not unexpected that she has more friends overall.

"You are quite familiar with him."

Lucy was staring at one name for some reason, as seen by the sharp furrow on her face. "Sarah?"

Josh slowly nodded. After taking a second taste of his beverage, the man spoke. "I have had a deep love for him. However, it appears that he is already wed." Once more, there came the sound of labored breathing. This time, in fact, it sounded extremely clear, capturing Josh's dejection. Lucy was unable to look at it.

"So you have heard about Sarah's wedding already?" Lucy enquired with curiosity. The explanation is that Sarah's marriage to Rayen was kept a secret, as far as Lucy is aware.

Josh gave a nod. Indeed. Her spouse informed me beforehand."

Lucy's jaw fell open in shock as her eyes grew wide. "Really, Brother Josh? Thus, Rayen told you straight?"

Indeed, he did say it himself. More accurately, he forewarned me against approaching Sarah once more."

Lucy continued to shake her head in shock. To shake off her incredulity, the girl took another sip of her beverage.

"Thank God, Rayen is open to making their marriage public. I have felt bad for Sarah the entire time since she had to be a secret wife."

Josh was effective in his baiting. Lucy gave him a veiled update on Sarah and Rayen's marriage. To be honest, Josh still finds their marriage odd.

Rayen had to keep his marriage a secret from Sarah, but why? He said only dumb guys, like Sarah, could hide gems. What is odd is that Sarah wanted to marry, but for what reason? Sarah had the option to decline, right? But why did Sarah keep going till Rayen revealed their marriage to the world in the end?

"So, Luc, you are already aware of all this?"

"Yes, sir. But I was forced to conceal their marital status at Sarah's request."

Curious as ever, Josh eventually began to slowly grasp that perhaps Lucy was not aware of it after all, since he answered every statement Lucy spoke in the most organic way imaginable.

This sounds peculiar, does not it? Rayen's appearance suggests that he is not your typical individual. I infer that he is a well-known individual. Why did he decide to keep his marriage a secret? Is this not highly dubious?

It is accurate. Why had Lucy not considered it that way? He had only been believing Sarah's explanations to him all along. I am not sure if Sarah is susceptible to Rayen's deception or if she knows the truth but chooses to keep it to herself.

Lucy became uneasy after hearing Josh's remarks, as her thoughts were occupied with suppositions and potential outcomes for Sarah. Even worse, Lucy's thoughts result in negative outcomes.

"Why do not you say anything? Was there a problem with my previous statement?"

"Not at all. I was only considering what you had mentioned before. It is somewhat true; I am just worried Sarah could be keeping anything from me." Lucy shook her glass and kept wondering if her guess was correct.

"Yes, perhaps; maybe not. Given that Sarah is the most naive girl I have ever encountered. Your best buddy is someone you judge by yourself."

Lucy inhaled deeply. "I will research it later."
