Chapter 12: Judgemental

"YOU have the same name as the woman who stole a kiss from me, but actually doesn't know how to kiss." Yazed sarcastically reminded the woman.

"Hey—" she pointed at the grinning man, but she stopped when she noticed Edwin staring at her.

"Which woman are you talking about? And why did you let others get close to you? You know you already have a woman to marry and you can't ignore that." Edwin scolded his son.

"I think she's just a pretentious social climber and you know I have no love for that kind of woman." Yazed answered his father emotionlessly.

Jenny secretly clenched her fist while Yazed watched his father approach his mother's bed.

"Take back what you said," she told Yazed in a low voice.

He looked at the woman in front of him. "Even though you only finished high school, you are smart because you understood what I said." Yazed mockingly praised her.

"Yes. So don't immediately judge someone you don't know well." She rolled her eyes and boldly met his harsh gaze.

Yazed changed his mind and suddenly thought of a prank to tease the woman. He bent over a little closer to her face. "So, you really don't know how to kiss?"

Jenny's face was flushed as she turned her back on the man and approached Edwin to avoid him. She knew he just wanted to tease her and make her admit that she was the woman he was talking about, so she had to be careful. She wore thick make-up to make sure she looked different.

"When will your mom be able to get out of here?" Edwin asked his son.

Yazed approached his father before answering. "Maybe the day after tomorrow."

"Good."

"I'll find a nurse for her." Yazed repeated what he wanted.

"Kailani is enough for her." Edwin said firmly.

"She's not a registered one." Yazed argued stubbornly.

"She is more experienced and trustworthy." Edwin looked at his son and showed him that his decision was final for the sake of his wife.

"I doubt that." Yazed sighed irritatedly and controlled himself. It seemed that the woman was important to Edwin, even though he denied his real relationship with her when he confronted him.

Edwin turned to Yazed again. "Why do you hate her that much?"

"I must know the person who I will entrust my mother's life with."

"I told you…"

"Your words are not enough for me to immediately entrust my mother's life to her." Yazed didn't care if the woman was hurt by his apparent dislike for her.

Edwin's attempt to defend Kailani was interrupted when his phone rang. He came out, leaving the two.

"Are you that kind of person? You are too judgmental." Jenny asked the man. She had to find a way so that he wouldn't interfere with her work.

"You're just one of the women I randomly met at the bar, drunk and whom I shared a bed—"

"Hey! I only kissed you!" Jenny interrupted what the man wanted to say. It was too late to take back what she said. She accidentally disclosed it due to being carried away by her emotion.

"Now you admit that you and she are one." Yazed smirked and he liked the woman's blushing face.

"Don't worry, I will learn to kiss because your dad is a good kisser." Jenny said to get even with him.

Yazed’s face darkened. "So, the news that you are my father's mistress was true? That's another reason why I shouldn't trust you."

"What are you thinking? I will kill your mother? I just didn't finish education, but I'm not a criminal." She folded her arms.

"You're fine with being a mistress, then?" He asked incredulously.

The woman smirked. "We live in the 21st century. The mistress has more rights than the legal wife."

"And you sound very proud." Smoke almost came out of his nostrils because the woman made his blood boil.

He neared the man and leaned slightly to him. "Because your dad is good in bed. Aren't you proud of him?"

"Looks like you're not just a gold-digger! You are…" He stopped when the woman laughed.

Jenny held back her anger as she stared at him with a grin. "Do you want my service? It's free because you are Edwin's son." She can't let his rudeness slide, thus she threw insults back.

Yazed clenched his fist and restrained himself from hurting the woman, knowing that she was intentionally making him angry.

"Don't forget the belief of others that it is better to be friends with the enemy so that you know their every move." Jenny said meaningfully. Based on the man's reaction, he probably got what she meant. That was the only way she knew to stay by their side.

Yazed turned and left the room without saying anything. Even though he didn't want to admit it, he was impressed by her sharp tongue and intelligence. Based on her way of speaking, he can say that she knew a lot. She was cunning and smart, so he must see her and his father's every move.

"Did you get into a fight?" Dexter commented when they met and he noticed his dark aura.

"That woman!" Yazed gritted his teeth.

"Who?" Dexter asked confusedly.

"Kailani." He replied shortly to Dexter.

"Oh!" Dexter exclaimed and let him rant about it.

"At first I thought she was an innocent woman. But I was wrong. She's a whore and a gold-digger."

Dexter saw Edwin ahead, busy talking on the phone. "Where is she?" He referred to the woman Yazed hated.

"Inside. Dad hired her to take care of Mom."

Dexter laughed. "Really? The mistress taking care of the legal wife? What a history!" Dexter commented, amused.

"I will not be reassured if I entrust Mom to her."

"But you know that your father has the final say." Dexter knit his brows as he stared at him.

"Then, I need to think of how to keep her away from my father. But for now, I will let her feel like a queen first."

Dexter brought his face closer to him and whispered, "why don't you date her?"

"Not her!" Yazed exclaimed. "She's nothing like my ideal woman."

"I'm not talking about your dream girl. The important thing is that you get her away from your father." Dexter laughed because of his friend's reaction and he didn't get his point right away.

Yazed thought and was embarrassed because he immediately overreacted.

"Anyway, I do have something to report about Jenny." Dexter changed the subject.

"What is it?" Yazed asked eagerly.

"She's not missing."

"What do you mean?" Yazed frowned and couldn't wait for more information.

"Her aunt hid her abroad in fear that the criminals who killed her parents would take her life too."

"Have you seen her?"

"Not yet. But her Auntie called me today. They set up a meeting with me."

"Good. When can I see her?" Yazed asked again. According to him, the two had returned to the country, but have not yet informed those who know them.

"I'll bring them here tomorrow so you can meet your future wife." Dexter said half-teasingly.

Yazed did not say a word. He would have been against getting married, but he wanted to grant his mother's request. Maybe that will help in her recovery.

"Let's go inside first and I want to see Aunt Amber." Dexter invited him, but he noticed that he did not move, so he turned to him again.

"You go inside. I'll cool off here first." Yazed refused.

"I thought you didn't trust that woman? But why did you leave her alone in the room with your sleeping mom?"

"Shit!" Yazed cussed and went back inside first. He forgot about that because he was annoyed.

Yazed stopped by the entrance when he saw what the woman was doing to his mother. He watched her staring at his mother as if she missed a mother's care.

"You really look familiar," Jenny mumbled sadly. She didn't know anything about the life of his godfather. She didn't think that Edwin had a child and that his wife had such a gentle face even when she was sleeping. The only thing she knew when she was little was that she was his favorite godchild and visited her often because he treated her like his own daughter.

When Jenny remembered the past and the present again, her heart became hard. She didn't want to feel sorry for the lady because she was the family of the person she hated.

Jenny turned to the door when someone hemmed. She saw two handsome men. But she also quickly told herself that Yazed's companion was the only one that caught her attention.

Yazed did not like how the woman and his friend exchanged smiles. But he chose to remain silent and approach his mother. From the corner of his eye, he could see Dexter talking to her.
